Ten thousand years ago, agents of an advanced civilization clash with a pacifist cult over control of prehistoric human society. This sci-fi epic from the creators of the critically acclaimed Ancestor also contains additional comics from Brandon Graham and Simon Roy.
This was an interesting attempt at a colossal SF work, but scaled down perhaps a bit too far, and the seemingly random time spans mentioned were very distracting. It was the first combined work of Sheean and Malachi Ward, and the early published pages were a bit too rough, but the quality got better over the course of the story. There were some very interesting pieces of art in the story, especially once they had gotten going in the collaboration, and those will make it worthwhile to read. It's a small book, and a quick read.
"Expansion" is a high concept Sci Fi space opera with striking visual elements that fails to tell a convincing or entirely coherent story. This is definitely a graphic novel where the art is the leading and most notable element.
Loved this little standalone sci-fi graphic novel, though it was over too soon! I hope the creators return to this universe again...seems like there are a lot of stories left to be told!
