Jennings “Jay” Maverick is a tech billionaire. He has the world at his feet, and he thinks he can buy anything…but he can’t buy her. One look at the mysterious Willow, and Jay knows that he is a goner. He wants to give her anything and everything she desires, but he’s the man responsible for the pain in Willow’s life, and getting close to her—well, that’s not going to be easy.
Her life is a nightmare that she can’t escape.
Willow woke up in one of the “Lazarus” research facilities. She now has increased strength, incredible speed, and some scary psychic bonuses. Because of the danger associated with her new gifts, she’s afraid to touch anyone. One touch from her, and a man’s darkest fears will seemingly turn into reality. But Jay isn’t afraid of her touch. Instead, he seems to…crave it. To crave her.
She can’t trust him, and he won’t let her go.
Willow knows that Jay has been involved with Lazarus in the past, but he swears he only wants to help her. She never expects the white-hot desire that burns between them, a desire that grows more with every moment that passes. Thrust together as allies, Willow finds herself wanting to put her faith in Jay, wanting to find someone she can rely on, but Jay may still be keeping secrets from her. Secrets that could get them both killed.

Another great addition to the Lazarus series. I wasn't too sure about this one with Jay being a techie geek but oh man! Did he ever surprise me. I loved seeing him go full alpha male protective mode, and fell for him hard. That alpha testosterone was always there, it took Willow to drag it out of him.
What I was a little disappointed with was how flat Willow was, I was expecting and, if I'm honest, hoping for a kickass alpha female to come along and sort the baddies out. I get that Jay wanted to protect her but still, she needed to get her moves on and she didn't.
There was a teeny tiny bit of "the other woman" drama, this never bothers me and didn't here either, in this case it was necessary and used really well to drive the plot forward. Oh, and no cheating and nary a virgin in sight - yay for me!
I LOVED the sneak peek at the next book, Luna has got me fascinated. Roll on March!
Was the OW drama necessary? No it wasn't and I really hope this author doesn't continue with this again in this series. Yes the hero was gone for the heroine but I just couldn't past the OW btw I don't mind OM drama but OW makes it harder for me to enjoy the book. I also think the heroine for being a Lazarus subject became somewhat weak, I wanted her to be a kick ass heroine but she was insecure when she met the hero's ex lover. (Can I say the word lover is starting to grate on my nerves?) This book was the least of my favorites. But I can't wait for Maddox and can we get a book about West??
There’s undoubtedly a darkly seductive, nightmarish insane edge to Cynthia Eden’s super soldiers engineered to always come back from the dead. And that keeps me coming back.
However, this far down the series, I've found things that I both like and dislike about the narrative arc and Eden’s peculiar characterisation of her protagonists here in particular—which I suspect I’ve mentioned in previous reviews of this series—bugs me quite a bit. So this puts me in the minority (what's new?), having found ‘Run To Me’ a disappointment, all the more so because I was looking forward to Willow’s and Jay’s book.
Willow runs; Jay tries to chase and atone; the baddies aren’t too clear-cut and the race for ‘normalcy’, if there’s ever such a thing, continues—my gross oversimplification, of course. The non-stop action is a draw, as are the twists and turns in this story, though having gone through all the books in the series thus far, I find myself running into several issues that I can’t seem to ignore.
One thing that personally irks me in this book is that there are entanglements or conflicts built around ex-lovers who are still in the picture, and that these drive a wedge—no matter how big or small—between the pairing that Eden tries to bring together. Somehow the involvement of other women/other men diminishes the impact or the force of the pairing that I want to get behind…and now can’t exactly quite because of this particular white elephant that shines rather brightly in the room with them.
For this reason, I actually think it’s darkly ironic that all the other characters kept inadvertently saying things that further damned Jay in Willow’s eyes, when all he wanted was to protect her and atone for his misdeeds in the Lazarus project. Jay/Willow’s relationship is an uphill battle as a result, which after a while, becomes a repetitive push-pull of chasing and running away. Yet if I expected a hard, kickarse heroine, Willow seemed the opposite, never quite able to get past her own demons to rise above them.
Something else that niggles: there isn’t much that differentiates one alpha male from another, apart from the possession of a super power or whether they wear a suit or not. I find myself struggling here Eden’s heroes after a while, as they tend to meld into each other. Jay Maverick—who isn’t a super soldier—suddenly acts like one instead of the technological-baron billionaire he is and his stepping up as alpha—not that I don’t appreciate the possessive and protective vibes he gives out—just didn’t set him apart anymore from the behaviour of other protagonists like Sawyer or Flynn, minus the superpower.
I think I keep coming back to this series in the hope that the overall plot would get better and better, but they haven’t yet worked out too well yet. ‘Run To Me’ is the weakest of the series so far however, and I’m still wishing—or is it wishful thinking?—that the waters would be less muddied the next time around.
Cynthia Eden delivers another fast paced, action packed installment in the Lazarus Rising series. Run to Me is Jay Maverick’s book, and as expected Willow, the only known female Lazarus test subject, is the woman he has set his sights on.
"I crave you… When you touch me, my control nearly shatters. You’re not ready for what I want."
The tension and chemistry has been bubbling between these two since their introduction to each other, even though at that point Willow was intent on Killing Jay and the rest of the Lazarus team, his attraction towards her was evident from the get-go. Although she still has very little in the way of memories from her past, it doesn’t take long for Willow to understand the attraction she feels for him is not just plain old lust.
"Once won’t be enough… I’ll want you again and again."
This was a quick read, with all the previous characters playing their part in its telling, the situation with Wyman Wright takes an unexpected turn as well, and as always the author keeps you on the edge of your seat in relation to the action that occurs and with exactly who all the players are that are involved. Jay, definitely shows another side of himself in this one, with the tech billionaire showing his softer side, when the true depth of his feelings for Willow emerge.
"I’d never give up on you."
The author looks to be branching off a little with the next book - Lie Close to Me due for release in March, as we get too meet more new characters and Lazarus subjects, so I am interested in seeing how she will tie things together and how things are going to progress in future books, especially with the revelations from this one.
"I’m not exactly the type to talk shit."

Cynthia Eden gave us a little twist to the series in Run To Me. This time the super soldier is a woman. We got to learn a little bit about Willow in the previous book. She was being held in one of the Lazarus labs but isolated from the rest of the subjects and we finally learn why. I wasn’t expecting how Willow’s story would turn out. The author is doing a great job of keeping each book in the series unique despite carrying the same overall plot to the series. I do wish we got to see a bit more of Willow kicking some butt since she has all these heightened abilities. Instead Jay seemed to step it up as an Alpha. The sneak peak into the next book sounds awesome and I can’t wait! ARC provided by NetGalley.
I'm really enjoying this series about the Lazarus test subjects and was thrilled when I realised that this time we were getting a female Lazarus heroine. It makes for an interesting flip on the previous stories but rest assured even though Willow has her secrets and history explored there's still plenty of testosterone floating around this book ! So we have super soldiers that are virtually unstoppable and able to come back from death but Jay has decided to do everything he can to help Willow recover her past life. Usually there's nothing his genius can't solve but Willow and his feelings for her are not something that hacking or money can solve. Jay has made mistakes and unfortunately he's still making them which puts them both in the firing line as there's someone out there who very much wants to reclaim Willow. Another good instalment that certainly has wetted my appetite for more. The only thing I'm not sure about is Jay if honest. I'd previously pictured him as this tech genius who perhaps doesn't interact very well and yet here he's very much a macho kind of guy and actually quite possessive and very passionate. It was interesting finding out how Willow became involved with Lazarus but the person responsible just seemed to have had a personality transplant! I love a really good villain and understand that sometimes authors want to redeem them but having been aware of someone's cold and merciless attitude from the first book I'm not sure that I was convinced. However with the introduction of the Norseman idea it gave the author even more scope to continue this series and I for one cannot wait. If hot and sexy men fuel your dreams then this series deserves to be read ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Oh man, this series just keeps getting better and better!
I was a little hesitant about how Jay and Willow’s story was going to work out. Jay was the financier behind the Lazarus project and had kept Willow in a containment cell when they first found her. His plan from the beginning had been to use her as bait to draw the puppet master behind the project out of hiding and into the light. However, what Jay didn’t realize was that his feelings for Willow would escalate to the point that all he cared about was keeping her safe even at the risk of his own life.
Willow is the most broken of those who have been turned. She was the control subject while the others were repeatedly tested on. Like the others, her memories are nonexistent. She also has an ability that makes her afraid to touch others. Initially, she can’t allow herself to forget that Jay is using her as a target and that her tentative reactions to him are not reciprocated.
Jay lives with guilt for his role in the project that has stolen lives and replaced them with men that are lost and confused as well as struggling with the images of monster that run rampant through their minds. He is seeking atonement and knows the first step is to find the man that he partnered with to find any other subjects that might still be out there. What he wasn’t expecting was to fall in love with one of them himself, but soon his whole focus is insuring that Willow is protected from not only outside threats but from her own confusion.
I absolutely loved this book! Willow’s growth from the beginning to end was amazing to watch and Jay’s possessive protection was the type of behavior that just sells me on a hero. Together they searched for answers even as their own relationship exploded off the page. The chemistry between these two were sizzling and no one does sexy alpha chemistry like Cynthia Eden. There was more from the previous couples, plenty of villainy and a level of suspense that will have you grasping your Kindle and flipping the pages as quickly as possible.
I personally think this can be read as a standalone although you might be a tad bit confused as to some of the back history of the project so I’d recommend you read the series from the beginning if possible.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Hocus Pocus Publishing.
Multi POV – mostly H/h No apparent triggers Safety – some OW/OM drama
Jay is a very protective, possessive man, “Willow’s done.” His voice didn’t carry past their little group. “And if one more man looks at her like he can’t wait to get her naked, I’m going to lose my ****.” I loved Jay the man could be so sweet, "he was staring straight at her. “Maybe the next time you do decide to run, baby, why don’t you think about running to me?” I like this series and I'm genuinely excited to see what comes next.
I've been waiting to read this book ever since they discovered Willow and it became clear who her hero would be. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book especially the twist and cannot wait to see where the author takes us next.
If you love paranormal and suspense mixed together I can't recommend this series enough. It's filled with action, sex and awesome storylines.

I really enjoyed Run To Me. It was suspenseful, exciting, romantic, hot, sweet, and it answered some much needed questions, while also setting up for a fantastic future for this series. I loved that our heroine was the super soldier, I thought she was such an interesting character. Her life was definitely not easy, her past not pretty, but she was so strong and brave. And her and Jay were perfect for each other. I definitely recommend to fans of this series.
This was another good edition to the Lazarus Rising series. Jay was introduced in the first book of the series and it was revealed that he actually backed the Lazarus Project. He's been trying to make up for it ever since. And yes, he was the former lover of the heroine of the first book, but it isn't as bad as people are making it out to be, in this book. Yes, it's mentioned, more than once, which is an annoyance, but there is not one scene in this book, not one, where he ever has a look with Elizabeth or even thinks of her romantically. His focus, all of his focus is on the heroine, Willow. It's clear from the first of the book, that he is devoted to her and only wants to protect her. Seriously, he is all about Willow and protecting her.
I really enjoy this series and how alpha the men are and how protective they are of their women. It's pretty obvious from the beginning how Jay is in love with Willow.
Willow is the only woman (so far) that they know of from the Lazarus Project, although, her reason for being brought into the program may surprise some people. As with all the others she has no memory of her past. What she does know is that she is afraid of hurting Jay.
I highly recommend this series. It's a very good paranormal series with alpha heroes protecting their lady loves! :)
Quotes & Faves:
♥ Jay’s eyes squeezed closed as he held Willow. “You’ll come back to me.” His body began to rock just a bit as he held her. “That’s what you do. The Lazarus subjects always come back.”
♥ “I fucking held you,” he growled. “And I told you to hurry that sweet ass up and come back to me.”
♥ “Will you stay with me?” Her soft voice stopped him. “Just for a little while?” He’d stay with her forever. That stark truth settled inside of him as he squared his shoulders.
♥ She was his. And he’d fight the world to keep her.
♥ “I don’t have super strength. I can’t come back from the dead.” His expression was determined. Dangerous. “But I’d fight like hell to keep you safe. When will you see that? This isn’t about atonement for me. You’re more. Willow…” He sighed out her name. “So much more.”
♥ He’d grabbed her and tumbled her onto the bed. Normally, she was the one who moved fast. This time, he’d been faster. “You are never less.” Anger was there. In his voice. In his eyes. On his face. “Don’t ever say it. Don’t ever believe it. You are more than any other woman out there. Never fucking say less.” Then he was kissing her. Kissing her with the frantic need she wanted. The wild rush of lust. The consuming intensity that made her feel— He wants me. Only me.
♥ His eyes stared into her soul. “Fucking.” Thrust. Withdraw. “Love.” Thrust. “You.” OhmyGod.
♥ He stared at her with wide eyes, and he looked at her— No one has ever looked at me like that. Like she was everything. The only thing that mattered to him.
♥ Jay’s eyes opened. They locked on her. And he smiled. “She is my family.” His right hand extended toward Willow. “She’s my home.”
I have been waiting for Jay Maverick the Tech Billionaire also, financier of the Lazarus Program and the Lazarus Soldier Willow. Willow has memory loss after she is brought back to life with the Lazarus formula. Jay falls for Willow from the first time he saw her.
The story is predictable, but has some good twist and turns. I always knew there was something more between Wyman Wright and Willow. It was a pleasant surprise to finally understand his motivation behind creating the Lazarus soldiers and running the Lazarus Program.
The relationship between Jay and Willow was romantic, very sensual and loving. The best parts of the story was the interactions between the H/H.
I have the same problem with the story as I did with stories 2 and 3. They all follow a formula. The basic storyline is the same.
5 Stars! I keep underestimating Cynthia Eden's love for taking you on the most heart stopping, sexiest, romantic rides through her eyes. Every time I'm convinced that I loved the last alpha she wrote, she makes the last one disappear. I love this series. Even though she keeps her series 3 to 7 books, I see a lot of characters that I would love to see a happily ever after. More please.
I am devouring this series and loving every bit of it.
This installment brings us back to the scoobies and focuses on Jay & Willow. Of course, Willow has a deep dark past that slowly comes out as she is hunted, not by Lararus, but by the reason she even became a part of the Lazarus project.
Continuing on the Lazarus Rising series, Jay Maverick finally gets his book. The Lazarus Project was a super secret hush-hush, maybe it's the government, maybe the government doesn't even know what's really happening, type of project. They were trying to create super soldier, and they did, but there were some...side effects.
The soldiers have to die first.
The Lazarus serum resurrects them, and the soldiers are blank slates. They have no memories of their previous lives, they have enhanced senses, sometimes even telepathy or other extra senses.
Willow has been free from the facility for a few months now, but she's confused. She has no memory of her old life, and no one can find anything out about who she was, not even tech wizard billionaire Jay. She stays with Jay now, and since he funded the project originally, she figures he's just trying to atone for that. But she has no idea he wants her close because he just plain wants her.
Willow is dangerous. She can make people see/live their worst fears. And she worries that she's going to hurt Jay. Jay decides that taking Willow out to a red carpet event where reporters will be swarming the place is a good way to use her as bait. Her face will be splashed everyone and they can draw out whoever might still be looking for her. When someone takes a shot at him on the red carpet, she jumps in front of him knowing she'll survive a bullet, but that Jay won't. That sets off a chain reaction of several people from Willow's past coming out to find her, and not all of them are good.
With secrets from her past popping up left and right, with a few memories making themselves known, Willow is able to piece together some parts of her past life. But none of it is enough for her to recognize the danger stalking her.
Will help from previous characters Flynn and Sawyer, she and Jay must find out as much as they can about the danger she's in and how to keep her safe. That's if they can keep her safe. With every new discovery about Lazarus, they each learn that there is so much more going on, and it goes much deeper than they'd thought.
This book went in a new direction, and I'm excited to see more. I like how with Cynthia Eden you never know which side a character is on at first. Is he a villain? Is he a good guy? Read and find out! She has a knack for keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, and her plot twists are never predictable. With her style, you always get some insight into the bad guy's mind, and sometimes that's a dark place to be. I can't wait to read the next one!
I despised this book, because I despise Jay. He's a loathsome, condescending bag of shit who spends the whole book deciding what secrets to keep from the too-precious (and shockingly pathetic, especially for an Eden heroine) Willow.
From withholding info about Wyman and Lazarus, to condescending to allow her to talk to him after she demanded it, to caging her and babying her in such rapid-fire order that I got whiplash... I hated him. And when he decided And Jay doesn't get a say, because his life has been LEAST impacted by Wyman.
In fact, I firmly believe Jay is just like Wyman... And maybe worse. Because Jay funded Lazarus, and while I used to think he was just innocently supporting Elizabeth, in this book he says he knows all the down sides of Lazarus because as the major funder he got to read all the research. That's not innocently supporting Elizabeth. That means he knew exactly what Lazarus does, and he read along as Wyman experimented on PEOPLE. That was after Elizabeth was out - she wasn't there for human trials, not until things went wrong and Wyman brought her back in - so Jay was way beyond just supporting her dream of saving people from death. He was onboard the super soldiers. Onboard the torture of these subjects. Onboard the experimentation, the caging - he built the fucking cages! - the dehumanizing, calling them numbers and not names. He's fucking scum. Worse than Wyman, because Wyman didn't care about these people, but Jay claims to care about Elizabeth.
I need a break from this series. That's how much I hated this book.
The electrifying Lazarus Rising series continues with another thrilling novel full of fascinating characters and an exciting plot that keeps reader glued to the pages.
Willow and Jay’s story is one sensational story that really has readers holding on the edge of their seats. Willow and Jay’s relationship is explosive with not only chemistry but emotional issues as well which really compels readers to want to get know them and in my case had me rooting for their “happily ever after” especially since in this book that remains questionable throughout.
The story not only has keeps the suspense building in the relationship, there seems to be danger following Jay and Willow with every step that they make. The thrills continuously build excitement as twists and turns keep readers guessing on just who is the bad guy, especially since when the enemies include the original scientist involved in the Lazarus project and Willow’s lack of a past and Jay’s secrets that add to the anticipation.
Cynthia Eden’s wrote another sensational book that I couldn’t put down. The Lazarus Rising series is fast becoming one of my favorites, so I can’t wait to read the next one, especially after that interesting conclusion.
After reading book #3 in this series (but not 1 and 2) I was excited to read this one and actually put aside other books on my to be read list just to read this one. We had a small glimpse of Willow in book 3 but the stories that were told of her had me wanting to read this book ASAP.
Unfortunately the book did not live up to my expectations.
First off, I found Willow to be annoying and immature. I expected a strong, kick ass woman who can stand up for herself which was not the case.
Second, there was no real basis for the relationship between Willow and Jay. It's obvious they knew each other previously but we're not told how exactly they knew each other or what their relationship had entailed. It's hinted at near the end of the book but it wasn't enough. This was a HUGE issue for me because I struggled to see how or why Willow should trust a man she barely knows. I have a feeling this was covered in book one or two (which I didn't read) but if so it should have at least been touched upon in this book for new readers.
Third, the ending fell flat for me. Yet again there is no closure and it's obvious that it's set up for another book including with new yet to be introduced characters. But I wanted closure between Willow and Jay which I didn't get.
Overall not bad, just not what I was expecting. I missed the connection between the characters that was in the third book in this series. There's also A LOT more players in this book than in the last one which was also confusing.
A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This series is getting better and better. I really enjoyed this book. I have read the others but I think this reads well as a stand alone. I loved the chemistry between Willow and Jay. I think most readers would enjoy this book. It does have some suspense as well. A few twists!! Fun to read.
Meh ... I expected better especially since i was really glad reading about this couple. The book started in a middle of something and i was a bit lost, then i felt nothing about their couple. Even the big plot lost a bit of interest ...
This books was awesome. Cynthia Eden delivered as always. However, Willow is a character that I did not live, for a super soldier she was too whiny for me.
I absolutely love this series but was nervous as this one was a little different with the heroine being the enhanced one. At first I wasn’t sure how this was going to go as Jay always came across as more geek than alpha. But man oh man but did he get his alpha ON in this book, he was possessive and protective which is exactly what I wanted and I ended up falling for him big! As for Willow well let’s just say she ain't my favourite heroine, I liked her well enough I just didn’t get the kick ass heroine I was expecting.
Also I am a little disappointed as I was excepting see John from Stay With Me show up, but no he only got one tiny mention ☹
I am seriously drooling for the next book I cannot wait to see what Luna is all about.
I loved all the other books in this series and was really looking forward to Jay and Willow’s story. But for a bad to the bone super soldier, she was whiny and wimpy. As for their love story, he just seemed obsessed with her rather than in love. No different than the cartoony villain. I was disappointed in this one since I have loved almost every other book from this author.
I received a courtesy copy of this book nd am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The Lazarus Project was the brainchild of a man that wanted to make a "Super Soldier". The subject is given a choice upon their death bed but when they awaken next, they have no memories...no past. They have increased strength, sight and hearing and possess a psychic ability. Some of the subjects have remembered bits and pieces, snapshots, of their previous lives but there is no guarantee.
They project is disbanded and some of these same subjects have gotten together to find others that were abused in this program. Jay Jennings is a techie billionaire who initially funded part of the Lazarus Project until he learned the truth about it. Now it is his goal to help also.
Willow is the only female subject. She was always isolated from the other, never allowed any interaction. The training she did, she did away from the other subjects. Jay fell for Willow the first time he saw her. He would do anything for her. Although he has repeatedly tried to assure Willow of his feelings, Jay has decided to just support her and hope she will eventually see him as a man who cares for her. Willow has mixed feelings about Jay, she knows he funded the project but is he telling the truth about how much involvement he had?
Willow doesn't really want to involve herself in any of these lives. She doesn't like to touch people because of what her abilities can do. She has seen how bad it can be for the person. The scientist is apprehended but seriously injured and all he can do is warn them....
I loved the character of Willow! She has to deal with all the issues the others do but has the isolation she endured added to it. She does care about Jay but is afraid....afraid of the snippets of memories she dreams and afraid she may hurt Jay.
Someone is looking for Willow though and he won't give her up.....
Really nice twist to the story which of course had everyone doubting what they thought they had figured out. I look forward to more!
Ms. Eden is an author I read often and she never fails to amaze me.
