"The weirdest part about kissing my best friend is that it isn't weird at all."

Drew Riordan is excellent at compartmentalization. It's the only way he's managed to survive three years at Bellamy university—and on the crew team—and how he's made peace with staying in the closet for the foreseeable future. But when he and his supposedly straight teammate start hooking up in secret, Drew quickly falls for the more vulnerable side of Andy he sees. But Andy can get any girl he wants—why would he settle for someone as quiet and reserved as Drew?

"I made a mistake. I shouldn't have let things get this far."

Spontaneous and sometimes reckless, Andy Craig has always been a bit of a mess. Whether he's starting an essay the morning it's due or finding a girl to take home for the night, he still somehow manages to land on his feet. But when a kiss that started as a joke turns into something very real, Andy finds himself getting swept off his feet by Drew, who's stoic, steady, and seems to have no idea what kind of effect he has on Andy.

"It's a huge risk, and I'm terrified. But you're worth it."

Their relationship in college failed, both of them too afraid to admit how they really felt. But Andy and Drew are given a second chance when they reconnect at a wedding several years later. Though they're both ready to be open and honest about their feelings, there's just one problem—now they live hundreds of miles apart and lead completely separate lives. Drew loves his career, but he's terrified to ask Andy to uproot his entire life to move to be with him. Andy would do anything to make things work this time, but he doesn't want to come on too strong. Will they be brave enough to ask for what they want before it's too late?

Riptide is an m/m contemporary romance with second chance, out-for-you, and friends-to-lovers themes, plenty of heat, and a happy ending.

Último libro de la serie Bellamy sobre una pareja que aparece en el primero, Drew y Andy. Adorables, un punto de angst y un punto sexy, muy entretenido. Una serie estupenda para huir del mundo.

OMG how many times did this book frustrate the Hell out of me! Andy and Drew needed their heads banging together and a crash course of therapy and a public speaking class or two.

Both of them are utterly perfect for the other but they have so many personal hang ups and anxieties that you spent the whole of the book just wondering whether they'll ever get their acts together and let the other now how they feel.

That I didn't end up throwing my Kindle across the room is testament to the skill of Ruthie at giving the reader enough of their inner thoughts to know it would eventually change.

I had been waiting for the two Andrew's romance since back in book one of this series so I had high hopes for it. It didn't quite match them fully, there was perhaps a little bit too much of the relationship drama and it took too long to finally get them together.

But, having said that, these two remained on my faves list but didn't push Rory & Milo off the top spot.

👍👍🔥💜👬Can this thing between Drew and Andy last after college or will their adult cares separate them forever?!
January 17, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
Another very emotional and 🔥 hot 👬 romance between college roomies that kept me glued to my Kindle! Drew and Andy both have emotional issues, with Andy a bit hyper, subject to anxiety attacks and constantly affirming that he is straight, although his behavior is contrary to his assertions. Drew comes from a humbler, less prosperous background, brought up by his taciturn father; he tends to keep his feelings hidden down deep and fears disappointing his family when he comes out to them. Due to a HUGE lack of communication, Drew and Andy go through a lot of unnecessary angst and separation. Thankfully, they finally start communicating! But have they waited too long?

Loved the changing POV between the two so we get a full picture of their hangups, thoughts and feelings. Well-written, good secondary characters like Andy's younger brother Noel and his friend Rory, and the length of the novel gave plenty of opportunity for the relationship to ebb and flow in a realistic fashion. I was rooting for both guys to find their happiness and was totally satisfied with the ending! :-)

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I didn’t expect to feel so negatively against Andy or Drew as I did at various times during the course of this book. During the first part, I was so very disappointed in Andy and what basically amounted to him using Drew to get off knowing that Drew didn’t have any sexual experience. Then I hated Drew for being so cold and refusing to open up to Andy about his own feelings which led to them both being miserable and alone. Only to once again have it all happen again two years later, with all of the same miscommunications, assumptions, and hurt feelings!

I loved Andy and Drew as supporting characters in the previous books, and I felt so happy when they were together in this book, that when they weren’t, it was gut-wrenching. Ultimately both Andy and Drew had to mature enough to realize that they each needed to make their relationship the highest priority in order for them to work as a couple. When it finally happened, it was beautiful, and well worth the wait.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I am never disappointed with Ruthie Luhnow's writing. This wasn't any different when reading Riptide. The story focuses on 'the Andy's' from Max and Finn's story in Still Water Andy and Drew and how their relationship developed through their final year of college and then later in their lives. I thought that the move from Bellamy as a setting into the future was a part move. After 3 books, Bellamy was becoming too comfortable of a setting, too predictable if that makes sense. By moving it into their future and out of the comfort of college it added more tension to their relationship. College and 'real life' can be quite a different change and that adds dimension to the tension.

I loved Andy's relationship with his brother Noel, and no lie, I would love to have a book about him to read in the future. Although I did have a question about Noel - is he meant to be on the spectrum or just shy and reserved? Thats was the one thing that I couldn't quite make a decision about.

I also really appreciated Luhnow's inclusion of characters from previous books. And not just casually mentioning that the other characters still existed, but incorporated them into the plot of the novel. And Rory being someone that Andy was still in contact with warmed my heart - not to mention his cats... I'm a sucker for some cute cats.

There were only a few minor issues that I had throughout Riptide. 1. Andy's coming out to his mother was done in some throwaway line when he was stressed about Drew. For someone who is crawling with internalized anxiety, I just couldn't believe he would have admitted to being in a relationship with a guy that easily. 2. I had hoped there would have been more help given to Andy with his self-worth and anxiety issues. He had some serious hangups that weren't addressed in a way that showed he would get help for them by the end of the book. And as much as I love books where 'love cures all', a person who is having panic attacks needs to work on that.

Overall, Riptide was another great installment to the Boys of Bellamy series. With each book that Luhnow writes, she adds more depth and layers to her characters that I wouldn't have even expected to see. No lie, she is one of my favorite writers and I cannot tell enough people to read her books.

Final notes:
- Told in alternating third person
- Set in college and 2 years later
- there are cats!!
- extra steamy scenes in abundance
- anxiety
- angst!! miscommunication!!

What did I think? Well I loved it! Absolutely loved it! :) :) Riptide is the 4th book on The Boys of the Bellamy series by Ruthie Luhnow. It's also the book I have been waiting for to read since I read the 1st book. The ending of the 1st book is just so delicious and really made me want to learn more about the Andrews! Don't get me wrong I did love reading about Jamie and Milo but all the time I was also waiting for this book to get written. And I have to say I wasn't disappointed even tough my expectations were certainly high when I started to read. In fact when I started to read I finished to book in one day even tough I was forced to socialize with "real" human beings for few hours during the day..

For those of you who might not have read the series. I think you can read this book as a stand alone but it's definitely better if you have read at least the 1st and the 3rd book. The main characters are both called Andrew or Andy and Drew like they are called most of the time. The books timeline is the same as in the first book but is told from Andy's and Drew's point of view instead of Max's and Finn's like in the 1st book. Like we already know from the 1st book the guys are students in the Bellamy university and they row in the university rowing team together.

But I have to tell you that this book is not only about student life in the campus or parties etc.. I would say that best part of this book deals about friendships and dealing with your problems and personal growth! Neither one of the guys is perfect and there is regretful miscommunication between them in the beginning but they do not give up and they do get their happy ever after.. They just have to have the courage to ask want they want and believe in themselves!

If you have read the earlier book there is absolutely no reason to not read the 4th book. Grab it now ans enjoy! In the Riptide we learned a bit more about Andy's relationship with his brother Noel and I liked to read about the brothers getting closer to each other's during the book. Who knows maybe there is a 5th book with Noel's name on it coming some day! Lets hope at least! I was given an ARC in return of an honest opinion. Now stop reading these reviews and get started with the book already! ;) I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

An amazing friends to lovers read from Ruthie Luhnow.
I haven't read the book involving Matt and Finn but didn't feel like I'd missed out at all, though will be going back to it after enjoying this book so much.
Drew and Andy are best friends in their last year at Bellamy University, are on the same rowing team and share some room.
Drew is the quiet, studious one, relying on Andy to help him experience life and only out to Andy.
Andy is loud, easy going and adventurous, relying on his friendship with Drew to reign him in when needed but hiding his anxiety in social situations. Andy's discovery that Drew has never kissed another, he takes it upon himself to give Drew those experiences that he think all should have when in their college years.
However, lack of communication between the two and misunderstandings lead to the 2 years after uni having little contact until both are attending their friend's wedding.
I love the way Ruthie has written the time line if this book. Our prologue is present day but the first half of the book takes us through their last year at uni and all they experienced together. Both characters talked through what they were feeling with their inner monologue but rarely with each other. Time moved quickly but it never felt rushed, focusing on the events that mattered to both.
Drew and Andy's individual problems stop them from making that final connection at uni and continue on through to adulthood. They come across as endearing, self deprecating and need their relationship to get through the day. The way they treat each other, rely on each other and talk to other friends about each other makes their feelings obvious to everyone but each other. It makes for frustration towards them but oh, you're so rooting for them throughout.
I love the way Ruthie has written about social anxiety experienced by Andy, highlighting his feelings and also the worry of his best friend. It's well written and as someone who's experienced them myself, it's nice seeing it written by a popular author for others to understand in situ.
I'd highly recommend this read to fans of Ruthie, friends to lovers and generally of a good read.

This book is a long, thorough look at the relationship between best friends Drew and Andy. The book starts two years after they graduated from college, giving a little peek at their lives before it goes back to their senior year.

Drew is the quiet one. Not emotional and the likely to have a stoic expression and avoiding all emotional connections, except one. His best friend and roommate Andy. Andy is the complete opposite. And for some reason, they mesh. Andy knows that Drew is gay, but he doesn't want to come out until after college. Andy, learning that Drew hadn't even been kissed, pulls him aside after a party and gives him a kiss. Their relationship changes from there.

Although I loved the book, there is a lot of angst between Drew and Andy. It's obvious that they love the other, but only obvious to only the reader and not the two men. Because of Drew's past and the way he had been raised by his father after his mother passed away when he was four, he doesn't really show his feelings. His upbringing wasn't effusive, so when Drew is hurt, he withdraws and pushes everyone away before he shuts down, and he doesn't let anyone in, including Andy.

Many times as I read this book, Drew's emotions would feel overwhelming. Andy would be hurt by his best friends actions, but he never gives up on Drew. Because of that, I loved the ending. It was bittersweet and completely realistic. Characters are flawed and a work in progress and both Drew and Andy are perfect examples of that. And because of that, the ending stays with you long after the book ends. Drew and Andy get their HEA, which is a depicted as a work in progress, and I loved every moment of it!

Finally, the long-awaited story of the Andrews, Andy and Drew. And it was everything I hoped for. How could it be anything but? Ruthie Luhnow is such a marvelous author, which they confirmed yet again with this amazing story.
We know Andy and Drew from the previous books in the Bellamy Boys series, and their love story had to be written. It has been a good decision to leave this story for last as these boys had to take their time finding each other. They are just too troubled and complex to have an easy ride.
They were best friends, and both wanted more, but they are so afraid. Afraid of their own feelings, afraid what others would think, afraid that the other Andrew wouldn’t reciprocate their love.
Every time I read a novel by this author, I feel such a close connection to the characters. They have an absolute knack for bringing the guys to live. I want to hug them close, but I also want to smack them on their heads for being so stupid.
Once again I went through tons of emotions. I was laughing and crying. I got happy when Andy and Drew were together and then got so frustrated when they went their own way again. And it wasn’t even always their own faults. When they told about their families, my heart went out to them.
It was also lovely to read about their friends, Max and Finn, and Rory and Milo. They all played such a prominent role in Andy and Drew’s live throughout their college years that it is only justified that they feature in this book.

"I want You to let me love You"

Riptide is the 4th book in The boys of Bellamy series but it can be read as a standalone. Finally we have Andrews story (with a happy ending of course).
First of all t is HOT, there is A LOT of man on man action. Contrary to what I normally think about roommates experimating and straight guys having any type of sex with his friends just to have fun, Andy and Drew's story was quite believable. Maybe I wanted to believe in this whole thing, but it was good.
The writing style is as good as always and the pace is pretty fast. I loved it that we met Max, Finn, Tina, Milo, Rory again. I didn't even realize how much I actually missed them!

I liked the story and the main reason for ONLY four stars is TOO MUCH ANGST for my liking. It was devastating. The misunderstanding at the end of college was bad and I am sure they both regretted their actions, but after 7 years of friendship they couldn't talk with each other. They were speaking but they weren't talking. I can't believe I had to wait till almost 95% for some serious conversation!!! That was too freaking much.

Sweet End to Super Series

Filled with wall-to-wall angst, full of characters who are not sure about anything, especially themselves or commitment, this series wraps up (I think) with a semi-delightful, totally riveting and awfully cute (at times) mindbender.

Drew and Andy--or, "The Andrews"--were just straight crew members and roommates in Book 1, at least that what their other roomies thought from freshman to senior year. Then in Book 3 we got in on a secret during a conversation Andy had with his fellow MBA roommate Rory, which led to Andy revealing that he was nervous about meeting up with Drew again at an upcoming wedding two years after they graduated.

Yes, you should read Books 1 and 3 because the MCs in those books are really crucial in this one as Andy and Drew flail non-stop when they reunite, and you just know that this one is going to scorch them and you, dear reader, and not only with bedroom scenes.

This book has a brilliant prologue and a super epilogue which serve as the wrappers around a terrific filling of plot, romance and just plain stupidity. Take a bite, and you will swallow every bit of it.

Oh my gosh! I am beyond obsessed with this series! I don’t understand how it’s possible, but it really does get better and better! Drew and Andy simply melted my heart. To watch them grow in love from two completely clueless kids to two mostly mature and supportive adults was a true joy. Their journey to love was so honest and true and utterly heartbreaking at times. Through numerous misunderstandings and misconceptions, their love was always there just under the surface growing and blossoming, just waiting for the perfect moment to truly take hold. These two characters, and all of the characters in this series, are so real and open and true. You just can’t help but fall in love with them. This book was just everything. It was insightful and inspirational, impassioned and intriguing, romantic and loving, and absolutely riveting. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet, sexy, and utterly endearing read.

Andy and Drew were....well..they were great. Their story starts at the same time as Max and Finn from book 1, so, you see a little bit of their story from the roommates perspective.....But that does not take away from the fact that Drew and Andy were all kinds of sweet, wrapped up into a nice helping of angst.

You have two best friends, who, fall into a pattern of hooking up...one thinking the other would never want more, the other falling harder than he thought he would. What you have between these two is a huge bottle of miscommunication. Unfortunately, that leads to some time apart. But once the two reunite...the spark is still there, but again, one wants more than the other is willing to admit. However, this time, Andy is not willing to let Drew go without a fight. And who would have ever thought it was ANDY who made the grand gesture? Color me shocked but that kid was all kinds of perfect when it came to his adoration and love for his best friend.

All in all, another excellent installment in the Bellamy series!

This is the fourth book in the Boys of Bellamy series, and, although it can perfectly be read as a standalone, it would increment your enjoyment if you read the rest of them, particularly the first one.

This is about friendship, about how Andy and Drew become friends during college and later each follows a different path. That is, until the wedding of their friends, when they meet again and discover that both have been harbouring feelings for each other.

Self-doubt, and the misunderstandigs fuelled for it, made their path to happiness a difficult one but they'll get there... eventually.

Again, Ruthie Luhnow brings to us a beautifully written book, with characters easy to connect and love, and a storyline interesting and compelling. A fantastic addition to the series that will let you wanting for more.

I received an advanced copy for an honest review, and honestly, I can't recommend this book more.

I loved this 4th book in The Boys Of Bellamy series! I have never been disappointed with a book by Ruthie Luhnow and Riptide is no exception. It is beautifully written, full of angst and the characters are wonderful. Everything about this book works for me and I could not put it down. I really connected with Andy and Drew with their confusion about their feelings and their inability to communicate with each other. I loved how they tried so hard to do the right thing for each other even if it caused hurt for themselves. They both have amazing hearts and deserve a beautiful life together if only they can learn how to ask for what they want and need. The secondary characters added a lot of depth to the story as well and it was great to catch up with characters from the previous books in this series. I felt so many emotions while reading this book that I was sad when it ended. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

I liked this quite a bit; it was a good friends to lovers story and I liked that the book was kind of split into two sections, one from back when they were in their last year of college and one for the present, two years after graduation. I liked both Andy and Drew and I liked them together - there was a lot of heart in this story. The only drawbacks, for me, were first that I'm sort of tired of the 'we messed up our relationship because of a complete failure to communicate' plotline although I guess it was fairly realistic given their personalities and age and second there was a decent number of typos/missing words - not fatal but enough to make me notice that it was happening and pull me out of the story.

Finally, we get to the Andrews story! Since this is the 4th book in the series, we've already met the Andrews and seen glimpses of their lives. I don't know about the rest of you, but I was so ready for this book! Ruthie did not disappoint.
You don't need a summary from me, you can read the blurb for that. I will tell you this story is, in turns, funny and touching, sexy hot and sweetly romantic, and bring you to tears, why can't he just say it angsty. And I loved every minute of it! Plus, you get the bonus of catching up with Max and Finn, and Rory and Milo.
This is book 4 in a series but, can be read as a stand alone. Be forewarned- you'll want to read the other 3 after you've read this story! Do it anyway!!

Book four in The Boys of Bellamy series. Even though this is part of a series you can read as a stand alone. However, each book gives you more into each character and it is a great series. Drew and Andy are best friends and roommates. Their last year in college they start having feelings for each other but neither one communicates and they so their separate ways. Forward two years after college at their friends wedding and they both realize that they have feelings still for each other. Lack of communication and self doubts creep in and threaten them again. Drew and Andy are sweet together.

BOYS ARE SO DUMB!!!!!
As ridiculous and frustrating as it is, it's totally believable. Unfortunately. Hahaha. You may not think it is.... but it's sooooooo possible...
*sigh*
The Andrews are freeking wonderful <3 I especially love Andy. This was just lovely. The whole series was really good. I hadn't been eager to read them even though Ruthie's The Plunge is one of my absolute favorites... I guess for some reason I judged maybe based on the covers or something, I didn't think they'd be as meaningful and wonderful as they are. So if you're reading this and haven't read some of these, READ THEM!!!! I AM a total sucker for both college boys and friends to lovers... <3

I just love this series - and this instalment, where we finally find out what was going on between the Andrews (Max and Finn’s roommates from the first book), was a delight. My enjoyment was slightly limited by the Prologue, which gives away major spoilers for a significant plot twist / conflict about half way through the book. Why? Why do this? It was at the back of my mind all the time! So, I recommend starting at Chapter 1 and skipping over the huge spoiler at the start (this scene is repeated later on) - if you do this, then it will be a five star read.

Drew and Andy have had a long more-than-friends relationship, on and off. They go back and forth, waffling between wanting more but being afraid to ask for it. I was torn between wanting to smack some sense into the both of them and just riding out the long wave of longing and hopelessness to find their way back to each other. It wasn't just a friends to lovers story. It was also a story of self-realization and not being afraid to go after what (or who) you really want in life. I enjoyed it very much, but the angst went on a bit long for me.

Another satisfying visit to Bellamy U. This time we get the story of the Andrews (I love it): Drew and Andy. Riptide is a rather angsty chapter, so if that's your thing, you will be a very happy reader - if not, stick with it! The happy ending is worth it. Andy is one of my favorite characters from this series. I absolutely love how he wears his heart on his sleeve, and it was such a joy to see him finally embrace his sexuality and then go for what he wanted. I also really liked that we got to catch up with characters from previous books in the series. Very much recommended.

THE ANDREWS!!!!!!!

Seriously after reading Bloom, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book! I loved Max and Finn's book (Book 1 in this series) and I was so looking forward to getting Drew and Andy's story from the beginning, and it did NOT disappoint! I couldn't put this book down! If you haven't started this series, I definitely recommend them all! With each book, this series keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to see who's book is going to be next! I am really looking forward to Kit's book though!

This book just about undid me. Talk about a lack of communication. I almost thought about not continuing. The highlight for me was that Milo was in this book again. Even though the guy had his issues, at least he said something. Drew and Andy are so afraid the other person isn't feeling the same way the do everything they can to avoid a relationship. I finished and it was fine but not the best in the series. I actually was kind of hoping there would be a book about Kit. Now there is a person who really intrigues me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was frustrating as all get out but it was worth it in the end. It's a frustrating romance because the entire issue throughout the entirety of the book is COMMUNICATION. They don't talk either of them and they really should. It would save all the heartache and time wasted. In the end we get out happy ending but at times it was hard to get through just because fuck come on get it together people. TALK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS.

I am so glad we got to revisit The Andrews from Max and Finn's story.

I loved the quirky-cute detail about their names being the same, and the couple's differences compliment each other really well.

However, what really dragged it down for me was the miscommunication that happened all the time. I mean, just speak to each other already! Could have solved all your problems in no time.

My favourite of the Bellamy series. I liked the dual/split timeline, that worked really well. Andy and Drew were both well drawn and interesting. Their issues were a little annoying and frustrating but I was very happy for them to get their HEA. Not sure I completely bought into Drew's love for his work, and Andy seemed a little too disengaged from his life in the later time section.

Nice idea and well executed.

This was rather lackluster. I wasn't sold on the four roomates that start "straight" and then become a couple of couples and it didn't get better. The lack of communication was super cliché and I forgave it for the first part of their story but when they got reacquainted it wasn't justifiable. One thing I appreciate from the author is how her stories intertwine and they don't read like: now that these two are together, the next couple can start to ckeck each other out.

Enjoyable return to the Andrews

I really enjoyed the Andrews' story. I think the pacing could have been better...too much time on the college part, but still rushed...and. Not enough time exploring adult feelings in a more nuanced way. Also would have liked more interaction w Max and Finn, rather than just referring to them.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the 4th book in The Boys of Bellamy Series, and Drew and Andy’s story.
This was a great read as a second chance book. Their relationship failed in college, one was in the closet and the other was straight. With them living a huge different apart are they prepared to make sacrifices for each other to get their HEA?
