I want to thank Donna Welch Jones and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for my copy of Killing the Secret that I won with two other books in the Sheriff Lexie Wolfe series.
The plot of a murder mystery revolves around figuring out 'who do it' and when one is written with multiple murders of women on a basketball championship team from twenty years ago and you have to read to the end to find out the murder, this is a great murder mystery. Eight girls were on the championship team and four were killed by the time Sheriff Lexie Wolfe realized that they were most likely connected. The four other women were hiding secrets from the past and no one was talking.
One secret was revealed and then two others so the case went from very little evidence to so much it were hard to figure out where to start. In the end the murder is revealed but the other mysteries from the secrets continue into the next book, which satisfied and intrigues the reader to move into the second book Deadly Search.
I want to thank Donna Welch-Jones, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the Sheriff Lexie Wolfe Trilogy
Women from the local championship high school basketball team are being murdered and as Sheriff Lexie Wolfe investigates she finds three leads going different directions to make this a difficult case. Locals are beginning to blame the Sheriff for the continued deaths as the investigations continues. One of the remaining team members is about to become 'The First Lady' of the United States to add more pressure to solving these crimes.
I loved Lexie and how she works to solve the murders in Killing the Secret ~ Sheriff Lexie Wolfe ~ Book 1 and I want to read more of Donna Welch Jones.
I got this book through Kindle. I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I mistaken. This was a real page urner, the characters were interesting and the story had several surprising twists and turns. I have finished it now and throughly enjoyed it. I will keep my eye peeled for the sequel.
And turns. The twists and turns need some more thought and fleshing out. The "love scenes" need a bit of work, too. All in all, I will follow this series.
This story is about 8 women who were star basketball players in their community 20 years ago, they went onto win the state championship. Now 20 years later they are being murdered one by one. Sheriff Lexie is desperately trying to solve this before the remaining 4 are killed. As she talks to the ladies she discovers that each of them is protecting each other from terrible secrets they swore 20 years ago to never tell. without knowing the secrets, Lexie fears that each of them will die. Slowly Lexie starts to crack open their tight bonds and find the missing pieces needed to solve this case before its to late.... This story was a fast page turner, I couldnt put this story down. I was on the right track of solving it, but I was wrong on who and why... The who wasnt terribly shocking but the why I never saw coming... I was like Whoa!!! I certainly would love to read more books in this series. I won this book as a goodreads giveaway.... Thank you so much for choosing me to read this story.. I hope the other books in this series are just as good... Good luck onyour future stories..
I received this signed advanced copy direct from the author at no cost to me. However; it is definitely worth the actual cost of the book. I've chosen to do an honest review. After receiving the book only today in the mail it was hard to put down. With shorter chapters it was easier to do something and jump right back in, The Sheriff Lexie books has easily become one of my new favorites. This author has come up with a clean, tastefully done mystery. The story line exposing dirty secrets and possible suspects it is hard to put the book down. Untainted by so much garbage disguised under mystery titles, this book is the real thing. I gladly give it a thumbs up.
Very interesting and entertaining storyline about the mysterious murders of women who once played together on a championship high school basketball team. They all have secrets from their past but is that enough to cause someone to kill them ?
Well I've got to say that was quite the novel! Or should I say quite the mystery.. Wow.. I thought I had it figured out..or part of it anyway.. But.. 🤔 I was very surprised.. Ill just say that. Lexie is awesome. Looking forward to her next adventure.
