I write about alpha protectors who fall in love hard and unconditionally, through the good and the bad. My characters are strong, sexy, and slightly damaged... because no one is perfect. All of my novels have happy-ever-after endings. What else would you expect from a die-hard romantic? I'm the author of the McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series of contemporary romance novels.

Hero was a good man, gentle, compassionate. If you’re into assholes heroes I suggest you look elsewhere because this man was pretty much amazing. They were both broken people, I love how he pursued her, it didn’t stop him that he couldn’t see her at all. Heroine was diagnosed with Breast cancer, she chose to have both of her breast removed (Mastectomy) For him she was perfect even with her “imperfections” which I didn’t think they were really imperfections, to me they were battle scars, she fought a great battle and won! I thought she should be proud of her scars. She chose not to get a reconstruction surgery. I get why she felt insecure. Her ex-husband abused and humiliated her because of it. She was scared that no one would want her because of it but Jamie showed her that he did, that she was still as beautiful as before.
Sometimes I felt like I wanted to shake her, I wanted to tell her to stop pushing him away. He was a patient man but he did pushed her boundaries close to the end, if he hadn’t he still would have been waiting for her to let him in. I felt bad for her.. Up until the end she was still working on her issues of being naked with him and letting her touch her chest. He was pretty patient with her, asking her to trust him. I wouldn’t mind if author decides to write another book for this couple, their story felt unfinished.
Safety: Hero has been celibate for long time, he’s not a manwhore even before he lost his sight. He was focused on his Navy Seal career, women weren’t on his sight. Heroine has been married for 10 years, never had a orgasm in the hands of her husband. There’s absolutely no OW drama. Like i mentioned before it has a HFN ending.
This was more of a 3 stars book. But I’ll rated 4 because I love animals in books and these two animals were so cute. And because hero not being an asshole and a manwhore. How often do we get a good man in books? I also need the words “I love you” this one didn’t have them that’s why I said it felt unfinished. Also author needs a better proofreader. At first she said she was 32 and later in the book she’s 35 and some repetitiveness but it really didn’t stop me from enjoying it.
“Do you know what I feel?” “Nothing. Because there’s nothing there.” “Wrong. I feel the body of a survivor. I feel the courage and determination of a woman who took her health and future into her own hands.”
“I love your body, Molly, because it’s yours. I love every inch of it. Every scar.”
“You’re beautiful, Molly. One tiny scar on your cheek won’t change that. It will just add to your allure.”
you should let me touch your chest.” “Why?” “Because you need to learn that every inch of your body is beautiful to me, whether it’s perfect or not.”

Wow! After completing Imperfect, I had to sit and let Jamie's and Molly's story sink in and absorb all the emotions that April Wilson had flowing through my body at an alarming rate. I absolutely adore the McIntyre tribe and am always happy to be back in their fold again when I begin another of their fictional journeys, but never did I expect Imperfect to be so profound and hit my heart so hard and pack such a powerful emotional punch! April delves deep into many touching subjects with this story that a reader can't help but be left stunned and speechless. While Imperfect still contains much suspense and sexual tension that leaves the reader panting, April Wilson gives us such a huge piece of herself and her personal experience that you can't help but to feel closer to her and in awe of her as a writer and a woman.
Jamie McIntyre is absolutely fascinating in all his former Navy Seals, “I'm not going to let blindness stop me” glory. I am left completely awestruck and impressed with his unwavering strength whether he is showcasing his prowess in the ring, protecting those he loves, or showing Molly her beauty both inside and out. I have never seen a hero that has drawn me in more with his sunny disposition even when all he sees is darkness. Jamie has me so in love that I am beside myself, stumbling over my own feet for this hero. I don't know what it is about these McIntyre men but they keep me salivating and blushing like crazy!
Molly Ferguson can see beauty in life and can create it on any type of canvas but after viewing herself through her ex husband's eyes, she cannot see her own beauty. It isn't long into Molly's story that I can see all of the scars and strength that make her so unique and fascinating and leave us in awe of her stunning presence which is more than skin deep. I have never met a heroine that gets knocked down by life so violently yet she still gets up and fights. Her bravery makes me weep and pierces my heart.
April Wilson delivers a book that is so thought provoking and hits you deep in so many places, that the story will forever be embedded in your heart. April Wilson never fails to impress me with her story telling skills but she has truly out done herself with Jamie and Molly's romance. I cannot wait to step back into the McIntyre world and get a front row seat to the hotness between Cooper and Sam. Go ahead April bring it on! We are ready to experience all the feels, the danger, and the unquenchable desire!
With this we finally get Jamie’s story. It is a unique love story as he is blind. Molly his neighbor who Jamie wants to date has secrets and imperfections of her own. Throw in Molly’s stalker ex and we get an intriguing story. Great addition to the series. I’m knocking the rating down a little as some of this occurs simultaneously with the previous book, so I know what occurs, but is from a different POV. 4 1/2 stars!
I picked out this book out of the blue, just because I liked the blurb and because why not. I don't know this author nor this series, and I had never read a book with a blind hero so I wasn't sure what to expect. I read it in a day, I couldn't even concentrate at work, I grabbed my book anytime I could. This was one of those readings where you don't want to put it down but you don't want it to ever finish.
I just loved this book. I loved Jamie and how strong and confident he was, I loved every little thing about him: how he was with his family, how he could handle himself, and most of all how he was with Molly. Molly moved me, I get that some people might find her insecurities annoying but I really identified to her, and I felt like her issues were treated realistically. Too much of the time when the heroine has body issues, they miraculously disappear after one round in bed with the hero, but it was not the case here. I liked how Jamie had to coax her out of her shell and into trusting him with her body and heart.
I also loved the whole community of friends and family surrounding them and will definitely read the whole series!
Jamie is ready to be on his own, he loves his family and has appreciated all the help they have given him since losing his eye sight but he needs to fend for himself. Moving out into his own apartment is a step in the right direction and it is where he meets Molly. Jamie feels something for Molly but will she return the same feelings and how will she feel about dating someone who is blind?
Molly is a survivor of breast cancer and has been rebuilding her life vowing not to repeat past mistakes. She is not sure she can take a chance on Jamie, the man who was supposed to be her rock when she had cancer destroyed her faith in man kind. Is Jamie different and can he be with someone who feels broken?
This was a powerful read. The emotions that poured through each page for both characters was heartfelt and had me shedding some tears. Wonderful addition to the McIntyre series.
Take the title and the McIntyre family and you know 1/2 the story you are getting. Bring Molly into the mix and emotions are heightened! This is a story of vulnerability and taking chances! I love April’s writing and of course the McIntyre clan! I can’t get enough! Love love love!!!!!
5 perfect Imperfect Stars! Each moment is this book built upon the rest, the whole gang showed at times and just added to the story perfectly. All I can say is I want more of them!
Shane's fiancee, Beth, helped me pick out this apartment. It has everything I need: convenient access in and out, an easy-to-navigate floorplan, the basic amenities, and two bedrooms, one of which will serve as my office. The apartment is within easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, the post office, and a grocery store... everything I need is close at hand. Anything else I need I can order online or grab an Uber.
Maybe its just me but dammit, that was clunky (and 'needy').
And then Jamie arrives at his new apartment, driven there by his brother Shane. I am assuming, from the paragraph above, (the 'needy' one) that Jamie has visited his new apartment before - a logical thing to do??
He walks into the main entrance - with the help of his guide dog - who SURELY would have been taken there to let him get accustomed to a new environment - only for Shane to carefully explain to Jamie (as if he is a small child on his first visit) where the mailboxes are, what the number of his new apartment is, and which floor it's on.
HUH???
It made no sense to me. Jamie MUST know that, surely?????? And if he did, why didn't he say something?
Dnf at 2 % Sigh.
This gets 1 star. The clunky paragraph should have been caught by an editor and it doesn't bode well for the rest of the book.
Imperfect is the 5th book in the McIntyre Security series, but the first book I've read by this author. I quite liked the concept of the series after finding it in KU - large family, security/bodyguard, and Imperfect could be read as a standalone within the series. There are a lot of secondary characters due to Jamie's large family, that on checking were main characters in the previous books in the series. I found that the storyline could be followed easily enough.
Jamie is an ex-navy seal who was seriously injured by an explosion. After living at his brothers estate following his injury, he is determined to win back some independence and move out on his own. Jamie's life may have changed permanently due to his injuries, but he is still a dangerous and lethal opponent when the situation requires it. Molly is Jamie's new neighbour. Molly has been divorced for 12 months, but still has to deal with her crazy ex, who won't stay away and has been showing increasingly erratic behaviour.
I found Molly to be quite frustrating throughout the story. The constant cycle of letting Jamie get close, then pushing him away got tiresome quickly. The story was repetitive at times, but it was an easy afternoon read.
Imperfect Imperfect is just Perfect. What an amazing emotional story of Jamie & Molly. Jamie was robbed of his eyes whilst serving as a navy seal for his country. He's been recuperating and protected by his family whilst staying at Shane estate. With the help of Shane's fiancée, Beth, he gets his own apartment and his independence back. Molly is a survivor of breast cancer loosing both breast but opting for no reconstruction surgery. She is also trying to move on from her ex husband, who she has a restraining order against. When they meet each other they both feel that instant connection but Molly fights it, she can't get a blind man mixed up with her evil violent ex. The scenes between them, with Jamie showing Molly his eyes, that's a first, and Molly letting Jamie touch her, another first, are very touching. This is book 5 in The McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series and I have loved every book but this ones the most emotional but heart warming so far. 💖 Look forward to book 6
Just finished reading Imperfect. I cried. I’ve waited so long for Jamie’s story. Imperfect was PERFECT. You can READ a lot of books. I have. 1143 in my Kindle collection. But if you want to FEEL a book. Become one with the characters, April Wilson does that. Read these books and become enthralled, spell bound with these characters and you’ll wait on pins and needles, with baited breath as the next installment comes on line. In all my years of reading, i have never, ever, connected with an author the way I have with Ms. Wilson. She writes from the heart. She is a true talent. READ. HER. BOOKS.
I absolutely love everything about the McIntyre Security series. Given the amount of books I read, it's easy to lose a story line or characters in between the release of new books but never once has that happened for me with this series. April Wilson is a fantastic author who brings such life to her characters and their stories that they are not easily forgotten. Jamie and Molly are no exception. A beautifully written, sweet and sexy story that shows that we are more than our imperfections. Perfectly imperfect.
I love this series by April Wilson! The men are alpha and the women they love can stand on their own. Definitely recommend & now anxiously waiting for her next book!
Here’s the thing, I think if you read this as a stand-alone, it would be better- however, it wouldn’t make sense to read this as a stand-alone because you would be missing context and backstory for a lot of of the characters. This is the problem of this book. About 70% of it is basically the same story as Book 4 but rather told from the perspective of Jamie and Molly, which is fine if you’re just picking this up randomly but absolutely feels a little scammy if you’re reading this as part of the series because you’re basically rereading the exact same plot (and sometimes lines) again.
The premise of this is that Jamie, who lost his eyesight completely in the military has put his life back on track and is living independently in his new apartment till he meets his neighbour, Molly, who’s being stalked by her ex-husband and dealing with the insecurity of living with a double mastectomy.
I liked the actual premise of this novel. I loved the author’s choice of protagonists because it is very rare to have a completely visually impaired alpha hero and almost unheard of to have a romantic heroine with a double mastectomy and no plans for reconstruction. I think this story of Kamie and Molly was written really well. My downsides were with the majority of this book being a retelling of Book 4, and once again minor editing issues with continuity where issues that had already been resolved crop up again as if they hadn’t been discussed and resolved a couple of chapters previously.
I do really like this author’s premises and I think she’s telling important stories and I love this family and so I plan to continue with the series.
I loved the plot and the characters and this book has a wonderful story line. I would have given this book 5 stars except for a few things... I felt like there quite a few times that things were being repeated almost word for word. Molly was very, very indecisive through the ENTIRE book. Literally, one minute she decided she was going to be with Jamie and the within just a few seconds all of a sudden she changed her mind and couldn't be with him. I can totally understand when I character does that at first. Nobody is 100 percent sure about the beginning of a relationship. But, to do it in every single chapter, every time she's near him, it just gets annoying. As for Beth, I'm sorry, but if she is that important and in that much danger to where she need a bodyguard 24/7, why would he bodyguard not paying attention to her surroundings and why on God's green earth would she take a FREAKING UBER anywhere? That I just don't understand. If she had gotten attacked and almost ran over and her bodyguard did in fact get run over and almost died, why in hell would she take an Uber to see Molly two days later? Why was she not in a secured vehicle? That's the party that really got me the most. There is no way if someone had just tried to kill her two days before that, that she would be walking around with just one bodyguard again and taking Ubers where ever she needed to go.
I really did enjoy the story and I wish I could have given it 5 starts. But for me, those things were just too big to ignore.
I love this author and all her books. Sadly, this one fell short for me. I didn’t like Jaime’s desperate attempts to ask Molly out. It felt a little pathetic to me. Also, I was so sick of Molly asking her ex to “please” leave, trying to be polite. I can’t believe Molly called the cops once on her ex and not every time he showed Up! There were a few mistakes that should have been caught, like when Molly says that Jaime just texted her that he’s coming to her shop, to a little later then swapping numbers; meaning Jaime couldn’t have texted earlier???? I’ll keep reading the others, I just wish this one was better. P.s I also thought it was totally in appropriate for Jaime to keep touching Molly’s chest, so soon after they met and got together. Give the girl a break!
Absolutely loved the strength of Molly to make the decisions she did it takes a strong woman to do this I know because my mother had to make the same decision and she is the strongest woman I know and Jamie is my hero
This is the fifth book in, the McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series, and I have to say I think it was my favorite so far. This is the story of, Jamie and, Molly his new neighbor. These two people are both living in a world that is, always looking and asking for perfection. However, for these two they feel as if, they are having to always prove themselves.
Jamie, because of his lack of eyesight, fights that he is capable of living a wonderful active life on his own. In, Molly’s case, she has to keep repeating to her, ex-husband who cheated on her, she divorced him, and now has a restraining order against him. And, that he was the reason for the marriage dissolving.
Not all men respond to a wife’s illness and loss by screwing their co-workers. He told her he would be okay with her treatment decision. She might have reconsidered if he’d been against it, but he’d said he supported her. It wasn’t until after the fact that he decided he couldn’t live with the consequences. The divorce goes through, and, DaddyWarbucks chicky dumps him. All of a sudden, Todd becomes hyper-focused on something he lost, Molly.
Todd doesn't just want her body back he wants her back to fix what went wrong with her body. An actual sick SOB! But, as time goes on his stalking has gotten more and more out of hand. Molly came home to find him in her ex in her apartment of course, this was before, Jamie moved in. Same behavior at her gallery/art studio, too.
The more her friendship and she just saw, Jamie, walking, Gus the more she liked him. It was also fueling worse outbursts from, Todd. It's when, Beth and, Miguel came with, Jamie to see, Molly’s gallery that they caught him in the act of choking her. She filed charges and he was arrested.
This was a sensitive and emotional situation on both their parts. Their so-called imperfections were only seen by themselves because the others loved all of them no matter what.
I loved everything about this couple their inner monologue gave you so much insight into their insecurities. But, it also gave a true insight into the attraction for one another. The first time he fought for her in the ring with his brothers to prove his sonar ability was the best. Then, to feel her pride for him when he fought a second time at Shane and Beth’s and beat Liam his youngest brother. To his mother’s dismay and crying tears. Then utter joy. I highly recommend this book!
I have to admit that I completely skipped over the first few books in this series because I don't particularly enjoy romance stories that span several novels. That said, I'm happy that I picked up Imperfect.
The characters' imperfections are what make them a perfect pairing. Jamie is a former Navy Seal who lost his sight in a severe explosion while serving his country. Frustrated by his family hovering, Jamie moves out to live on his own. It is clear, though, that Jamie is still a lethal and dangerous man despite his injuries. Above all else, Jamie is a protector, which becomes more evident as he gets closer to Molly.
Molly is strong in her own right out of a toxic relationship and dealing with her own injuries from a life-threatening disease. She's spent the last 12 months rebuilding her life as a single woman, all while dealing with an obsessive ex-husband. Molly has an inner strength that never wavers, which defiantly made this a good read. It was also my most significant source of displeasure with this book.
Despite continual proof that Jamie was more than capable of taking care of himself, both his family and Molly always try to make his life easier. I won't go into Jamie's family here. But with Molly, this manifests in a push and pull between the couple that I just couldn't enjoy. Molly would get close to Jamie, and something would remind her of her obsessive ex, and she would pull away.
This happened so often that there came the point where I almost couldn't stand the character. Especially since Molly's reasoning was always that she wanted to 'protect Jamie' even though Jamie has shown that he was more than capable. It showed Molly's lack of faith in Jamie’s skills and capabilities I didn’t enjoy.
This book is a lovely light afternoon read. I read and reviewed this as a standalone and not as a part of the larger series. I'm not sure if I'll be reading any more of this series, but I'll defiantly be more from April Wilson.
The male protagonist was lovely albeit portrayed as a love sick fool chasing after a woman who pulls hot and cold, accepting him then rejecting them... and despite his disabilities, they don't sting deep. The female protagonist made me want to chew hardened cement - self-absorbed, cowardly, self-concerned and unwise. For two people who hadn't gotten to know much of each other, what their values and character are like, what they want from life, what they're willing to give in a relationship, I could not for the life of me believe the male protagonist's feelings for the female protagonist. Was it the opportunity to be her hero? He puts himself out there in front of his friends and family, she dances with him and then walks out of the room and leaves him standing there alone (imagine how devasting and embarrassing this scene would be in real life) and he doesn't cut his losses? After sleeping with him she tells him she doesn't want him anywhere near her. Even when she reflects on her actions, she's still thinking about herself, how her guilt makes her feel. Yet the author would have us believe that he is such an emotional superman that he kept going after her? Baloney! What does she do for him? Does she take a break from obsessing about herself to make him feel like he's no less a complete man because he's blind? Nope, it's all about her. Another completely unrealistic and illogical portrayal of romance. I get tired of these self-concerned female protagonists justified as 'broken' by the author. No man should be treated the way she treated him, double mastectomy, crazy ex-husband, or not.
I am giving this book five stars because the plot and the characters are fantastic. I have read every book in the series so far, and I love how interconnected they are. I love how characters keep popping up in pivotal ways, not just tiny cameos. The stories are believable, interesting, and heartfelt. Those are the reasons I'm giving five stars. HOWEVER, if I could give editing its own review, I would give the editing for this series three stars. There are not glaring typos and spelling mistakes and punctuation errors like another books. However, there are a ton of continuity errors. I noticed two major continuity errors in the first book of the series, but I thought it was just a fluke. Unfortunately, there were a ton in this book. The heroine is 32 years old, but 20 chapters later she's 35. He's going to text her when he gets there, but two pages later he is giving her his number so she can text him. The errors did not prevent me from finishing the book or enjoying the book, but they were incredibly annoying and impossible to ignore. I realize this book is several years old, so the likelihood of the author going back and updating the Kindle version with corrections is unlikely.
Time in the military left Jamie McIntyre sightless and slowed him down a bit but Jamie defines handi-capable with the help of technology and his support dog, Gus, he ventures away from the family estate to his own walk-up apartment and starts a flirtatious friendship with his next door neighbor, artist, Molly Ferguson.
Molly’s a stew of emotions with a new flourishing business, a year-old contentious divorce with an ex that refuses to accept Molly’s life doesn’t include him plus the mental repercussions and confidence issues from a health crisis that shook Molly to her core. Though it’s cliché, Molly regretfully tells Jamie ‘its me not you’ more than once as the pair try for a romance.
At first blush, sweet leads, Jamie and Molly, appear damaged but it’s more insecurity adapting their normal to the world around them as they battle their own emotions, wondering if they’re enough and acceptable for the other. That said, while I understood Molly’s issues she was at annoying, aware and accepting that she was demanding much, much more from an equally imperfect person than she was willing to give. Rating: 4.5stars
A story of finding unconditional love that is full of poignant moments and overcoming insecurities. Molly has been single for a year following her divorce. She left her ex after his ultimate betrayal. Molly has moved on with her life. She’s happy with her job at her own gallery and being on her own. Jamie is Molly’s new neighbor. He’s living on his own too for the first time. After a military career and then a career ending injury, he’s started a new life. He’s had to learn how to get around being blind and he started a new career as a writer. Their friendship is instant but Jamie wants more. However, Molly’s has a stalker ex-husband and a secret that’s holding her back. This is Jamie and Molly’s story of finding your person who loves you regardless of what you perceive as imperfections. It’s about leaning on that someone, trusting them with your heart and finding it’s not about what’s on the outside. These two heal eachother abd begin to build their lives together. Looking forward to seeing where they end up in future books.
I read a lot of romances and this one has the most emotional impact I can remember reading in a long time. I loved how Wilson unraveled the emotional wounds for Jamie and Molly who are grappling with their new normal of their physical losses. I loved this story because the impetus and motivation for the romance is what lies within a person’s heart and soul, not the emphasis on a set of attractive breasts, which the author points out in the author notes in back of the book. The author writes this straight from the heart to show us what it is really like after a mastectomy. Wilson bleeds on the page and I salute her for doing so with courage and honesty. I loved both characters. The hero has learned and adapted to his impairment, which has opened his heart and awareness of sensing what’s going on with people around him. I wanted him to be just a little flawed, he seems too perfect. But that’s part of what made us all fall in love with Jamie. I highly recommend reading this book. Readers will be immersed in what it’s like to have a romantic relationship after a mastectomy. Well done!
Jamie and Molly. I enjoyed this story but although Molly has 2 main issues with them being together that are valid I got a bit fed up of her giving mixed signals. They are attracted to each other and she wants to be with Jamie but due to her issues she keeps pushing him away but also not. I don't think Jamie had to be blind to be confused. I liked the fact that neither of them were sleeping around, it is understandable due to their circumstances but it was a nice change. We catch up with the others in the gang including Shayne and Beth who have their wedding and we see events from the book Shattered (McIntyre Security Bodyguard #4) from a different perspective. We meet Molly's best friend and other members of Jamie's family plus a few extras so plenty of material for more books. I like this author's style but this is not a book I would re-read.
