A tiny, chatty fairy artist with multicolored pastel hair. A burly, bearded landscaper who can’t get a word in edgewise. They have nothing in common, but is that enough to keep them apart?
Willow Sharpe has two current relationships: her recently relocated best friend, and the fairies she draws for a living. She’s promised to create a romance for her most popular fairy, but can’t seem to make herself follow through. That changes when a local landscaper nearly mows her over, disrupting her solitary existence.
Clint Kirkland doesn’t pursue relationships. Most women expect him to hold up his end of the conversation, and he’s not adept at small talk. When he meets the city slicker artist with the pastel colored hair, the only thing he knows for sure is that she makes him uncomfortable. But things get even more complicated when one of her fairy creations begins to look a lot like him.
Soon the two can’t decide whether the real relationship is driving the fairy romance, or vice versa. And though they both know that opposites can attract, they have to discern whether opposites can sustain the kind of love that lasts.
USA Today bestselling author Christina Coryell was born and raised in southwest Missouri, where she lives with her husband and children. She had plenty of people tell her that her degree in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing would be useless. They were probably right. Added to her dual major in History, she became the least likely candidate for nearly every career on the planet, save being a writer. That suits her just fine.
Christina has written from the back hatch of an SUV, in a lawn chair while at soccer practice, in the front seat of her car, with kids climbing on her, and often with extremely loud noise in the background. At least half of her books have been written during baseball games.
She believes great fiction mirrors life, and great life contains a little humor, so it's difficult not to sprinkle a little funny business throughout her work. Oh...and character is everything.
She loves hearing from readers. You can find all the ways to connect with her at www.christinacoryell.com.
I first read this story in the Love at First Laugh box set.
Willow is a quirky, rainbow-haired, super chatty fairy artist. While Clint is a bearded, no nonsense, quiet landscaper. After their first meeting, where he nearly mows her down, can these two complete opposites find love?
This was a different story than the norm and Clint and Willow are not the typical romantic leads, which I found very refreshing and I completely loved. Willow's such a fun character and Clint is quite dreamy. (I might have a wee bit of crush on him.) This was a really great story and the first I've read by Christina Coryell. After totally adoring this novella, I'm definitely going to be checking out her other books.
I read books 1 & 2 out of order because I was curious as to how Willow the fairly lady and quiet Kirk got together. I love the unique characters in both of these opposites attract-books. Willow, who could've come off as just a weirdo, came off as fun and creative. Likewise, Clint, who could've been boorish, was a charmer beneath that beard and reluctance to speak.
I'll definitely be looking for other books by this author.
The two main characters in this book are so very different that, at first glance, one would wonder how they would ever work as romantic partners. But they do! Willow and Clint are pretty sweet together, actually. And watching as they navigate the interesting, fairy-filled waters around them makes for a lot of grins. Nothing about their relationship goes anything like either one expects, but what fun I had reading about it! (Also, who knew a beard could make a guy swoony?!) Oh! And I can't forget the cute little Jane Austen-y references. Very slight, but they're definitely there. Which, of course, just made me love this story ever so much more.
This novella story was adorable! I loved Clint and Willow together, including their sweet awkwardness as they interacted with each other. When he first asks her out! So sweet. I loved how his awkwardness only endeared him to her. I loved that he was big and burly and she was tiny. I loved how free they each were to be themselves with each other and that they really liked each other, quirks and all. They were just such an adorable and perfect fit even though it might not have looked like it from the outside. There was so much that made me smile as I read-silly little moments, sweet awkward moments. Loved it all! I love it when a book makes me smile big or laugh out loud and this book was one of those that did both. I don't know that I could name another couple who I just so loved together. Theirs is a story I will probably read more than once.
Mowed Over by Christina Coryell was an entertaining, fun-loving story about a fairy artist and a landscaper. When Willow thinks he's going to mow over her little fairy world she's constructed in the yard, she puts herself in the path of the mower. Clint instantly thinks he's just encountered the biggest "nut job" in the world. They really seem to be complete opposites....she never shuts up and he rarely speaks, but can opposites come together in the end? There are definitely laugh out loud moments in this book! I highly recommend it.
This is an opposites-attract romance of teeny-tiny proportions! A hardworking, bearded mountain man sets out to woo a dainty yet feisty former city gal. The plot is so sweet and the characters are completely endearing. I can't wait for more stories in this series!
I purchased this story as part of the Love at First Laugh novella collection.
I had the pleasure of reading this story in the Love at First Laugh collection of stories. What a HOOT! Fresh, quirky, endearing, and loveable characters, hilarious situations, and so much to gush over. I am not usually a fairy person, but this story wouldn't be the same without them. Totally worth the read. A perfect summer read. A real breath of fresh air.
Love comes in all shapes and sizes. It is also expressed in so many forms as evidenced in this book. This book can be read to a child and can be enjoyed by an adult too. My thanks to the author for this sweet magical book!
This was a laugh out loud romance between a tiny fairy artist and a landscaper. The setting, storyline, and characters were entertaining. I recommend this novella who funny, quirky,Chick lit.
I love a good opposites attract book and This one did not disappoint me in any way. It was fun and sweet to read as these two characters found their way to love.
