When I purchased this book I was hoping for a comprehensive guide, exploring the topic to the very fullest - a compendium on shipping container homes.
Unfortunately, the book is quite vague and skims through the topics briefly. It scratches the surface, being repetitive at times, especially at transitions between chapters. A striking contradiction about sustainability of the solution goes on throughout the entore book. Whilst the author acknowledges containers may not be the most ecologically friendly homes in one of the chapters, references to green living and reuse of material are constantly made. Very inconsequential.
Overall, if you are new to the topic, have not researched it already in the internet and it will be your first introduction - go for it, as you should benefit from the read. On the other hand, if you read some articles or blog posts on container architecture already, you will highly likely just refresh what is already known to you.
The book is a straight forward read. The author provides some good advice from his perspective as well as the container home community. The author identifies the pros and cons to consider when building.
