Beck has finally finished all his studies to become a Grand Master, all that's left now is the official ceremony and then he can return to Atlanta to help Riley with the final preparations for their wedding. Riley has been given official recognition as a Master Trapper and she's continuing her magic studies with both the witches and the necromancers alongside training her apprentices so for once in their lives things are going pretty smoothly for the couple. Of course nothing stays that way for too long in this world and when entire cities start being destroyed the Vatican call on Riley for help thanks to her unusual link to both heaven and hell. The church doesn't trust her but they're out of other options so it's up to Riley and Beck to try and figure out exactly what is going on and they need to do it fast if they don't want to put their wedding plans on hold.

I've loved the Demon Trappers series since I read the first book back in 2011 so I've waited a long time for Riley and Beck to finally reach this point of their relationship. I've loved the journey they've taken and I really love that they're both such kickass characters who will do anything to protect each other. They both have their strengths and skills and working together they're a pretty unstoppable team, more importantly they can rely on each other to always have their backs.

I'm sad that this series has reached the end but I've enjoyed every minute of the journey, it was great to catch up with some of the previous characters and see some surprising appearances of characters I thought we'd seen the last of. A lot of the side characters have gone through just as interesting journeys as Riley and Beck have so it was great to see some of them earn redemption along the way. It's always upsetting to leave a world after you've spent so much time in it but I'm looking forward to seeing what Jana Oliver comes up with next.

Well, this was about as exciting as doing my taxes.

description

I’m kind of ashamed to start my year off with such a disastrous book, but since all my books have been stored away in boxes for the first couple of days, my kindle was the only thing I could muster.

I should’ve kept going with the fanfiction, though.

Never mind the book took forever to start, the plot was so vague and insignificant, I didn’t realize the book was ending until the epilogue began.

description

You’d think that there’d be less explaining of the last 5 books since this is the sixth installment in the series, but oh boi. There is no need to explain every goddamn detail from the previous books.

I skimmed half the book and was only mildly interested in the dialogue. I literally cared for -4% of the characters. Around the 150 page mark I was actively rooting for someone to die, because at least something would happen.

description

I know this series is no Six of Crows or Throne of whatever but is it too much to ask to get a new plotline every once in a while? This is so unoriginal, yet so badly executed. It’s like bad idea, horrible execution. I’ve read fanfics by fifteen year old’s on ao3 with a better plot structure and better sex than this.

description

Let’s not even start on the tropes, because I know that this is full of tropes and horrible YA-clichés. I just picked this series up on a whim and got too attached to the gooey, cringe-y romance. And I am okay with that. I just feel like it wouldn’t hurt to flesh out the characters a little more as the series continues, because we get the chance to get to know the characters for a longer time.

But now, I feel like Riley is an empty shell of person, who is bound by plot to do the absolute-perfect-always-very-heroic-thing (almost like Jace Herondale in the later Mortal Instruments books). I thought 2018 was all glow-up and be the best version of yourself, but that apparently doesn’t apply to this series.

Ugh, i give up.

Valiant Light, the final book in the series, is another excellent book in the Demon Trapper’s Daughter series. Being the last in the series, it is also a sad time for me. I’ve been reading this series since book 1, The Demon Trapper’s Daughter, was released in 2011. Watching the character development of Riley and Beck over the years (book release-wise, not timeline of the series-wise) has been fun, frustrating, and emotional. Book 6 is a wonderful finale to one of my favorite series’ and cast of characters.

Riley is in Atlanta trying to protect humanity from hellspawn and Beck is in Scotland, having just finished up his studies to become a Grand Master. Amid all of the protecting and studying, Riley and Beck also have their upcoming nuptials. To say things are stressful is probably an understatement. When entire cities are being discovered completely destroyed under a layer of fire and brimstone, Beck now has another thing to add to his plate. Things get even more complicated when Riley is summoned to Rome to explain the goings-on. Will Beck and Riley get their happily-ever-after?

As in the rest of the books, the story is easy to follow but the twists and turns are not easily figured out. I also love the emotional feel to these books. The love between Beck and Riley is undeniable, even in the midst of chaos, death, and accusations. I am able to feel all of the emotions that have been put into Valiant Light and the author does a fantastic job with that in all of The Demon Trapper's Daughter novels. The world building is also done well. I am able to visualize the story in my mind.

Series’ come and series’ go. Some never get beyond a third book and some go on for 15+ books. I’ve read some that are discontinued before we get a satisfying ending and I’ve read some that just keep going. I’ve never been emotional about the ending of any series until now. I really hate to have to say goodbye to Riley and Beck. I’m glad I found the series so many years ago and loved it so much I purchased each book in paperback for my bookshelf. I can still enjoy them for years to come. Thank you, Jana Oliver, for writing a series that kept me coming back for more. I wish you could find a way to continue their story – there is so much more for them in store.

If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed.

OMG what a bitter sweet moment. I can't believe it's over. I read this book in less than 24 hours. I just couldnt put it down. I have absolutely loved every minute of reading the entire series (I re-read the others just in preperation for this books release). There were so many ups and downs for many of the characters. Plus too many close calls for everything to go wrong.

If you have not yet read the other book to this series i would strongly recommend doing so before reading Valiant Light.

I am so happy that after everything that Beck and Riley have endured they got their day. They really were perfect in every way for each other. I have laughed many times whilst reading some of the antics that this pair have gotten up to. Also held my breath on many occasions when this have seemed at their worst. But no matter what has been thrown at them, they have come through it all together. As they would say "All or Nothing".

Even Ori got his happy ending in his own way. And with his surprise for Beck at the end just shows how he really was one of the good ones even if he did make some mistakes in the process.

This book has been just as action packed and surprising as the others. With a few twists you wouldn't likely pick.

I would love to see a novella to show what happens a bit further down the road for Beck and Riley but also Ori. Now he's free just what will he do.

This is the sixth, and final, book in the Demon Trappers series. This is a series that I keep thinking has ended but then “surprise!” another book gets released in it. This was by far the worst book of the series and didn’t really need to be written. The book moves very slowly and was tough for me to get through. It does tie up all the loose ends from the previous books but it wasn’t very interesting or exciting.

In this book Beck is just about to be made Grand Master and Riley is continuing her Summoner lessons when whole cities of people start ending up destroyed/dead. Of course everyone thinks it is an ArchFiend but Riley and Beck think there’s more to it than that.

This story jumps around between many viewpoints, sometimes multiple in a chapter and as a result the story moved really slow. This book was more about tying up some loose ends that were left from book 5, than actually creating a new and engaging plot for this book. I almost stopped reading this book a number of times because it was so slow and boring. I really wish the series had stopped with book 5.

The above being said we do get our wedding scene and mysteries from other parts of the series were tied up completely. I just wish it hadn’t felt so boring and forced.

Overall my least favorite book in this series. I loved the series as a whole but this book just wasn’t as good as previous books. If you are a huge fan of the series I guess read it and finish it up. Honestly though I would have preferred to stop at book 5.

This book brings about a great close to the series. I liked how Riley and Beck kept talking about the wedding despite all the chaos they encountered. The trip to the Vatican was interesting. I liked how Riley rocked them with her thoughts on what was going on and her blessing when she left. It felt like it was almost an acknowledgement of keep doing what you are doing.

There were some quiet moments in this one, those involved all of the central characters giving both Riley and Beck advice or best wishes on their marriage, it was very sweet. Those moments rivaled those between Riley and Beck talking about the wedding and their future.

The battle at the end was great! I liked that Riley, Beck and others prevailed, how they realized the bad guy wasn't really bad, just doing what he was made to do and had regret about that and gave him what he wanted.

The wedding at the end was great! Loved that things ended on a happy note, loved the gift that Beck got. But the best was where Riley and Beck spent their wedding night, it was very much in character with them.

This was the perfect conclusion to this story, how this series original ended at book 4 I don't know! I am so glad we got to see the things we did in this book. Riley has matured so much throughout this series, honestly upon re-reading the first book I found her slightly anoying but she has grown up so much and become such a strong female lead. Beck has matured into such a gentleman! This was such a bittersweet book and I dragged it out longer because I found myself not wanting to say goodbye to these characters. Again there is a lack of Peter scenes though! The overall plot of this book is well established, I enjoyed our foe I thought it was a compelling take on a classic mythology. I also enjoyed how this book made you question if all demons are bad and all angels are good. The character development of the main and side characters is my favourite part of this series by far.

Just when you thought that it was finally time for Riley and Beck to enjoy their life a bit amidst all the hellspawn chaos, trouble ensures. And this time this is some rogue angel who is hell bent on destroying civilizations around him.
This threat is no small one and has the capacity to destroy every single one. Can Riley and Beck save the day? And along with it also save their dream of being together forever?
A gripping tale like all the other installments. This book, the final in the series is an epic ride through adventures that will never let you keep your book down. A fitting end to the whole series.
However, I really wished there was some kind of novella after this. Just to know how Beck is faring as a husband and how hard Riley is keeping him on his toes :P

Wow! What an end to this fantastic series. In readiness for reading this book I decided to re-read the entire series.
I found myself pulled into Riley and Beck’s story even more than the first time I read the books.
Valiant Light is the cumulation of 10 years work and it’s so worth it.
We join Riley and Beck just as Beck is about to take his vows as a grand master. Riley has just been made a master demon trapper too. She’s also been working on her magic and has realised she has a lot of power. As long as she can figure out how to harness it.
As their wedding day approaches, whole cities are turned to ash. What horror are they facing now? Will they both be able survive it?

I remember picking up the first book in this series at the library because the cover was pretty. than I fell in love with the story so of course after all these years of enjoying this series I got the print on demand copy of the last book. (the book before it was also pod and I have that one too)
I started reading this a few months ago but kept putting it off. this is the last book in this series. I didn't want to be done and have to say goodbye to these characters. it's been a long ride but I've enjoyed it.

Didn't want it to be over!

I can't believe it took me so long to read the second book after reading the first but when I did I just couldn't put it down. Fast forward almost 2 weeks later and I finished the series! I can't believe how amazing that was. This series is definitely up there as one of my favourites and I'm hoping Jana gives us a glimpse into the future of Riley and Beck at some point. I'd love to see to see how they handle being a Master Trapper and a Grand Master along with being parents.

I'm so sad that this series has come to an end, and its been such an adventure spending time with Riley and Beck.

Although, not my favourite book of the series, I love how Jana Oliver writes her characters. There is so much personality in Riley and Beck that their journey became mine.

Highly recommend this series for anyone looking for a good time! The series as a whole is probably one of my favourites.

Five stars and could have been better?
Well lets just say I love a lot of the concepts that were introduced in this and I hope to see more of them if the series continues, but they were introduced a bit clunkily into this part of the series. BUT HEY, IT WAS STILL R E A L L Y good I missed these damn kids so much ;o;

Hope it’s not the end

The story of Riley and Beck has been with all of us since the start and I’m so glad that they have found the happiness that they longed for.
Sure hope that this wouldn’t be the end of their tale as I wiuld love to read more about where Riley advanced with her magic and would she and Beck have kids.
Only time would tell I suppose.

What a finish!

This is a series I've read and loved for years and I couldn't have imagined a better ending.
Loads of surprises, new obstacles and battle as to face and overcome. I loved it, and couldn't put it down.

Loved this book! It tied up many loose threads and was such an engaging and enjoyable read! Loved the ending for Riley and Beck although I'd still love a couple of novella's in the future. Can't say what kind of novella's though as that would be a spoiler!

Thank You

The plot was complex and well structured, yet not too overkill, and everything ended pretty well! I mean I had a couple questions but I always do, and I would have liked an extra hundred pages - but that too I always do. Thank you! And to potential readers I vote yes

Very much enjoyed this series. Even get a kick out of the fact it brings up another series I love.
Characters I love and it seems to be the end of them but then again, other items brought up that could either do a spin off or another few books.

Had to reread all previous books to understand all. Not big fan of "center of everything" and "saving world", also too much focus on wedding. She 18 for fucks sake. As I said, didn't like"special flower" aspect, but otherwise good read.

So let’s sum it up: an ok series, some nice fighting scenes, not much mystery and characters come and go, nice topic with the demon trapping, annoyingly perfect or almost perfect main character and a way too perfect happily ever after too predictable.

I thoroughly enjoy this series, and it is by far one of my favorites, I feel the last 3 books in the series have been a bit of a let down, most of the book is leading up to the main event and then that event feels incredibly rushed.

Great book

I have loved this series from the first time I picked the first book up In 2009, the story has kept me captivated. Wonderful work by the author, the story has flowed from the start all the way to here. I can’t wait to start all over again from the beginning

I really loved this book; the story stays fresh even in book 6 in the Demon Trappers series. I love Riley and Beck. they have come really far since we met them at the beginning. The story was really interesting; the killer was a surprise and the ending was really poignant.

Amazing

As always, the story continues! Well written, easy to read. A heartfelt story of everlasting love and sacrifice. Riley and Den are perfect for each other. With funny one-liners and stubbornness from both. They continue to save the world.

I really struggled with this story. Tbh this would have been better as a novella like mind games.

I skim read it to find out how it all ends. A good series anyway
