Gwen thought that opening up a muffin shop next to a firehouse was going to be a dream come true. Especially next to the hot fireman of Colwood, Montana who like to walk around half-naked. Boy, was she wrong. Because every time she walks outside, she ends up fighting with Zane, the frustratingly handsome firefighter who always gets her heart pumping, her palms sweating, and her pulse racing.
Zane, the Kodiak bear shifter, can’t stop fighting with the girl next door. But his inner bear has other plans for his curvy neighbor and he doesn’t seem to care what Zane has to say about it.
When the two enemies are forced together for a night will they be at each other’s throats, or be at each other’s clothes?
The first book in the new standalone series by Kim Fox. Come for a stay at the Colwood Firehouse with two hot bears, two scorching lions, and a firefighting dragon. Oh, yeah!
A hot, new paranormal romance writer who loves Werebears and the tough, BBW that can handle them.
Her latest series is Smokejumpers: Werebear (Bear Shifters of Flathead Forest) a cast of fun, lovable and sexy smokejumping shifters. Each book focuses on a different member of the crew and the women that they fall for.
I thought it was all a fluke reading Vega Ranch: Julius cause I didn't see any of the funny, snark, worship from the Alien Barbarians of Zandipor but this proved me wrong.
It still wasn't the same but I had a good time. It was ridiculously short and I wish there was more to the plot but it made me smile and that's what matters, right?
My how I’ve missed the Colwood Montana folks! Kim Fox kicks off her new shifter series by taking us back to Colwood and into the Colwood Firehouse where we meet Zane. He’s the second in command, and hotter than hot!🔥🔥
As with all Kim Fox novels, this one has s kickass storyline; a whole new group of characters we’re going to love—and love to hate; plot twists upon plot twists; sensational sex; and a HEA sure to have ready for more! This book is everything you could possibly want...so 1-Click you copy today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and loved it!) ❤️❤️
The first book in the Colwood Firehouse and it got me hooked. I love Zane's story. Just the right amount of steamy sex and a good story line. Glad I have this book in my library because I will read it again.. Can't wait to read the other 4 books in the series.
This was a good story. I liked Gwen and Zane overall and enjoyed their story.
Gwen is a muffin shop owner in a small town. Gwen and her mother had always dreamed of opening a muffin shop so when Gwen's mother died and left her a modest insurance payout, Gwen used it to open her shop. Unfortunately, business isn't the best and Gwen's also having issue with Zane, a fireman that's also her next door neighbor.
Zane is a fireman and also a bear shifter. Zane grew up in an orphanage because no human has ever been able to accept him when they found out he's a shifter. Zane has a good life now but has no trust that a human could accept him so he generally keeps his distance.
The story is short so I wont go into too many details or risk spoilers....you can pretty much guess how the story goes. I did enjoy the story but there were a couple of instances when a MCs did something really stupid and I just wanted to shake some sense into them. But in general, the story was nice and I liked the characters (except when they made me want to shake them, hehe) so it was good overall. Things do get worked out nicely so by the end of the story, Zane and Gwen are together and well on their way to a HEA.
This was an enjoyable story. Gwen and Zane were both good characters that I liked so I was happy to see them get together. There were some issues (noted above) but it was a nice story...I'm just glad I got it as a freebie. :)
OMG they are finally here, the firehouse shifters, I've been waiting to read about these hunks since reading short snippets about them in The Wilde Crew and all the other series that Ms Fox has written, I just love these shifters.
Gwen can't get a better view than the one she has of her neighbors The Coldwood Firehouse hunks. Only one problem exists there the very rude and obnoxious Zane who insists on getting her newspaper wet everyday. Is he really a problem, or could it be that she enjoys riling him up so she can get a better look at that scrumptious chest with all those yummy abs he has? Lucky newspaper!
Zane can't help himself, he just has to rile up that gorgeous BBW that owns the muffin shop next door, he just loves to watch her turn all kinds of colors when he talks to her even if she does get in a twist. He would really love to get her to do the twist with him, but he could never subject such a treasure to a man that harbors a beast within him. She deserves so much better than the likes of him, but his bear doesn't think so.
In the meantime danger lurks in the air around Colwood and Draven the chief and alpha of the firehouse knows exactly who it is. Now everyone around must prepare for what could be disastrous.to the town.
This one really should have worked for me, had all the things I like in it, shifter, hot fireman, yet I stopped reading about the 30% mark. I didn't care for Gwen, she was very much TSTL, the way she named her muffin shop and how she reacted to her newspaper getting wet, just everything. Zane wasn't much better. I realized I didn't care how their date ended and if Gwen was able to save her shop. This one just wasn't for me.
I have read several series that Kim Fox has written and she never disappoints. I love her imagination and the thought that she puts into each of her books.
Zane is a shifter; in other words there is also a grizzly bear living inside of him. He is the Beta at the fire station and on of his jobs is to wash the fire truck; which he seems to enjoy doing everyday.
Gwen moved to their little town two years before, her mom and her were best friends until cancer took her away. One day she got a letter in the mail containing a check from her mother's life insurance and it was a substantial sum. After selling everything she moved here and opened a muffin bakery next door to the fire house. It seemed though that Zane was going out of his way to be a bad neighbor. Every time he washed the truck he got her newspaper soaked and ruined. He made fun of the name of her shop and made some offensive comments about the cover add on her van. She looked at it later and discovered it to be true. Her shop was failing she was desperate to do something different to inspire more people to come in but all she did was burn up her oven with as Doritos muffin. Who knew Doritos would catch fire?
She went to the bank to get a loan (which she couldn't afford) for a new oven. Before returning home she stopped at the action the Fire station was having. It was a charity event and the money was to go to help children. For some reason she couldn't help herself and ended up spending all of her money to buy a date with Zane.
Zane had a hard childhood being abandoned by his parents, and then tossed out of an orphanage. The thought that Gwen deserved better and that once she found out that he was a shifter she would shun him.
Then things got really complicated The Alpha's half brothers were looking for him and they were all mated now; which meant that their true abilities could come out and they were stronger than ever. Worst of all the wanted to destroy the world and bring it back to medieval times were the dragons were the rulers of all.
Now how does Gwen accept Zane if she does and what is she going to do when she finds out about all of the other shifters, and a dragon that wants to kill everyone, or should I say several dragons.
Hurrah!! We've come back to Colwood, MT. Gwen is the owner/baker of Muff Rules in Colwood. She loves her job but has to put with the bane of her existence Zane, one of five firefighters occupying the station right next door. Theirs is a love/hate relationship that screams nasty innuendos that can only make any reader smile and laugh out loud. Zane's play and teasing Gwen over her business's name and the paint job on her van is one for the books. Gwen just seems so naive. It takes a while for the light in her brain to come on. Zane has a chip or should I say log on his shoulder because of his family or should I say lack of family history. His parents had (abandoned) dumped at an orphanage after his first bear cub phase at the tender age of 5 and the second dumping was when the humans that ran said orphanage dropped him and fellow firefighter Jax off in the woods because these so-called humans were afraid of loosing funding if "their unfortunate condition" was revealed. Zane is justified in his hostile feelings against humans but he's just really afraid that if Gwen were to discover his bear she would act like all the other humans he had ever known. The only problem is that Zane's Kodiak bear knows that Gwen is their intended. When their chief Draven compels the station to take part in the charity auction all "H-double toothpicks" breaks loose. Each man has their reasons and some have fun upsetting the apple cart. There is laughter, love, and drama in this story; mainly with the threats to Draven that I'm sure will run through each future story. The reader is briefly introduced to Draven and his problems. This Colwood Firehouse is a new series but is interconnected to previous Clawed Squad, Vega Bros., and Wilde Crew and brief appearances are made by some of these characters. I would suggest reading these to understand where the firehouse individuals are coming from. Watch out for Gunner as he has history from the Wilde Crew stories. I was given an ARC for this wonderful story for my honest and voluntary review.
Colwood Firehouse: Zane is an intriguing, funny and sexy introduction to the new series The Shifters of Colwood Firehouse. It’s also a huge reminder to me that I need to spend some time in early 2018 getting caught up on Kim Fox’s series since this story does have connections and I don’t want to miss seeing those things that connect by being so far behind – even if life does happen.
For some reason Gwen and Zane just rub each other the wrong way… or at least that’s how Gwen sees it. Of all the handsome, hot as sim men working at the firehouse next door Zane is the only one who gets on her nerves, teases her without ending and is simply a jerk to her. She often gets back at him for soaking her newspaper by taking offerings of the delicious muffins her shop creates for everyone at the fire station… except Zane. She always seems to forget his.
I liked Zane and Gwen together, their bantering and really mock feud is entertaining especially as we are privy to Gwen’s inner most thoughts – and there’s nothing PG rated about them. By the strike of luck or jealousy, Gwen and Zane up on one amazing arranged date and each begin to see the other a little differently. But the reality of Zane’s world is about to come crashing in on their date and bring new dangers to everyone in the area.
I enjoyed my time in Colwood Firehouse: Zane and I’m looking forward to following the rest of this series. But first, for my own sake, I need to do some catching up to get all the back story mentions. So, yes, I do follow my own recommendations and go back to the beginnings when I realize that series connect. There’s just more fun for me when I know the entire story, and that often includes what went on before.
I’d recommend this story to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who enjoys lively bantering, sexy heroes and interesting secondary characters.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is a new series from Kim Fox. I am so glad she started this series because in her previous series we met up with these firefighters. Because Gunner left the crew he was with before and ended up with the firehouse crew I really was looking forward to his story. This author started the her new series with Zane and Gwen.
Zane is a shifter, just like the rest of the guys at the firehouse. He is a Kodiak bear shifter. He and the owner of the Bakery next door, Muff Rules have a love and hate relationship.
Gwen, thinks the big muscular fire fighter is a jerk, but a jerk that lights her fire in so many ways. The two of them are constantly bickering. There is a fine line between hate and love, which these to learn in this story.
It was so good it ended too quickly for me, so I hope you can see that as a resounding endorsement of this start of the new series. I look forward to the next story in this series and hopefully it will come out soon. There is much more to happen in Colwood, Montana with the Colwood Firehouse gang.
was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.Gwen is fairly new to Colwood and she's spent all her money on opening up her bakery .Her shops location has its advantages one being that its right next to the firehouse and a bunch of great guy There is one in particular though that she just can't stand he's the worst neighbor ever even if he's as hot as a four alarm fire .He maybe sexy but he's just ride and irritating.Zane loves pushing his gorgeous new neighbors buttons she's just the worst neighbor ever with her ugly van and that ridiculous shop name.I loved watching as these two got to know each other, passions ignited and Gwen sounds her niche in Good old. This story had me grinning and giggling it's was a delight to read .I love Kim Fox's books and I can't wait to get my hands on her next one. This is a must read for paranormal lovers out there .Two thumbs way way up.
Welcome back to Colwood, MT. This is the story of Gwen (owner/baker of Muff Rules) and Zane (sexy firefighter and Kodiak bear shifter) and boy do the sparks fly between them. Their story is a hate/love relationship that will make the reader laugh out loud and keep turning the pages til the end. Zane's teasing over Gwen’s business name and the paint job on her van is one for the books. You’ll also get introduced to the rest of the crew.
While this is a new series, these stories are interconnected with Kim Fox’s other series and there are brief appearances made by some of those characters. While you do not need to read the previous series, I would suggest that you do read them to understand where the firehouse individuals are coming from and for a great read.
While I was given an ARC for this funny story, this is my honest and voluntary review. Please either buy or borrow this book (which you will not regret) and leave your review for the story.
Colwood Firehouse: Zane by Kim Fox is the first book in her new series The Shifters of Colwood Firehouse. This series follows her other Colwood, Montana series and is full of shifters you'll recognize. This series is focused of the sexy firefighter shifters. I'm so excited about reading the entire series. I've enjoyed all the shifters of Colwood completely. Zane is a Kodiak bear shifter and second only to Draven. Zane had deep seated issues with his bear and being a shifter. He believes he's unlovable because he's a shifter. Some parents can be awful to their children sometimes. Owen is new in town. She owns the bakery next door to the firehouse. She loves watching the eye candy at the firehouse everyday. Zane's story will have you laughing and on the edge of your seat. It will also wake up your girly parts. Great job Kim. I can't wait to read the other guys stories.
Gwen was living her dream. A muffin shop. Add to that she was right next to a firehouse with five hot--make that four hot firefighters and one hot jerk who also fought fires. If she could just make a go of it before said jerk forced her to commit murder.
Zane played the jerk well. He had to do something to keep his hands off the curvy beauty. He and his bear wanted her. But she was human and deserved better than a man with a beast inside.
Can the two give up the feud to move on to more pleasurable activities? If they admit their true feelings will the danger let them live long enough to explore them?
This looks like a good new series from the author. She doesn't disappoint. Hot firefighting shifters is a recipe for one. I'm ready for book two. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
This book was cute and funny. Gwen owns the muffin shop next to the firehouse. She has been there a little over a year and every day she fights with Zane. She doesn't know about shifters and Zane is a Kodiak bear. She purposely antagonizes him daily with little things such as bringing four muffins for the other firefighters but not having one for him. Drachen puts on an auction for charity where each firefighter has to go on a date with the winning bid. Well Gwen goes just to watch but when women started bidding on Zane she got jealous and spent all the money she just borrowed from the bank. There is intrigue going on with Drachen and his dragon family going on in the back ground. Love all of the Colwood shifter books. If you haven't read them yet, I strongly recommend them. They are fun, romantic, adventurous books.
I borrowed Zane ~ The Shifters of Colwood Firehouse ~ Book 1 from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Zane is one of the five big firefighters next door to Gwen's muffin bakery and he gets on her wrong side and is just the worst neighbor. The other four firefighters are all friendly and great neighbors to Gwen but Zane goes out of his way to cause her grief.
One night she has a fire in her oven and Zane is the only firefighter on duty. He comes and puts the fire out but her professional oven is ruined. This is the turning point in their relationship.
Zane and all the firefighters are keep a secret from Gwen, so he feels he is not good enough for her. An auction of firefighters, a date, a revelation of Zane's secret make this a fun paranormal romance between a curvy girl and a hot Kodiak Bear Shifter with an element of danger too.
Gwen is the owner of a muffin shop right by the firehouse. She has eye candy anytime she wants by looking out the window. If only Zane would not ruin her newspaper when he washes the truck or argue with her all the time, Gwen's life might be a little easier. Zane is polar bear shifter. Zane has a thing for the little muffin shop owner, but he has be a jerk and keep her away. Zane knows he's not good enough for Gwen, as soon as she were to find out about his bear, she would leave him just like his parents did, just like the orphanage did. When deserves a human. I liked this one because the Zane character knew Gwen was probably his mate, but tried to stay away, not because he was stubborn, but because he was afraid of being rejected again. Jax is a funny character, I'm looking forward to reading his story. Explicit sexual content, so adults only reading this one.
What an incredible start to an incredible new series! I’ve seriously missed the big bad boys of Colwood! These boys live hard, play hard, and love hard! If only this town really existed, every single woman in America would be clamoring to live there. This book really has it all… drama, action, romance, friends, family, and love. I was totally hooked from very early on and remained riveted to the very last page. This frenemies love story really had me reeling. If this is what we can expect from this series, I am beyond excited for the upcoming books in the series. I would very highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet and sexy romance.
*I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.
Kim Fox has created a humorous, well-defined and exciring shifter world revolving around Colwood, Montana. A shifter haven Colwood provides the location for Kim's brilliant alternate world with bear, wolf, lion and even Dragon shifters. This latest shifter series by Ms. Fox promises to be another fun, exciting and engaging one. Zane is a wonderful, thoughtful and gorgeous man, who is also a firefighting bear shifter. Gwen is the muffin baker next door who is Zane's dilemma. He's drawn to her, but all they do is bicker. Delightful, funny and heartwarming this love novella is grand. Throw in mysterious and dangerous dragons and we're promised a captivating and entertaining new series. Thrilled to read the firehouse gang's adventures.
I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. This book is the first book of Kim Fox’s that I have read. Because of that, I wasn’t sure on what to expect. I needn’t have worried as I found the writing style easy to follow and the characters loveable. The chemistry between Zane and Gwen was clear to see. I liked that they had a dislike for one another but a secret liking of each other. My heart ached for Zane. I wanted to shout at him to give Gwen a chance. I understood his fears but his insecurities were clear to see. My favourite part of this book was Gwen’s reaction to Zane’s bear and the ending of this book made me smile. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read. I cannot wait to read more books from this series.
I started this book, read 4 or 5 other books, and finally came back to it. I didn't like the characters much. Zane is arrogant, and Gwen is silly, and not in a funny way.
I liked that Gwen had a struggling business. Running your own business is difficult. But it is really all her fault, and not just a case of bad advertising, bad pricing, or poor location.
The relationship: Zane and Gwen start out feuding. Then they just have sex (no reconciliation) and everything's great. They don't really help each other. They don't really have anything in common. There's nothing that makes them a good or even interesting couple.
I finished reading because the sex is mostly hot and the background characters are fun and quirky.
Colwood Firehouse- Zane by Kim Fox is a 4 star read. Bakery owner Gwen has a love/hate relationship with firefighter Zane. Everything he does drives her crazy but she can’t seem to keep her eyes off his sexy body Firefighter and bear shifter Zane had a rough childhood, one that has led to him feeling like he doesn’t deserve any kind of happiness, but when Gwen is around his bear sits up and takes notice. I loved this story and laughed out loud more than once. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to read the firefighters stories and I’m so glad that they’re finally here. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Yay we're back in Colwood, MT. What a come back indeed. I loved the love-hate things that Gwen and Zane had going on. You could already tell that all that bickering was nothing but foreplay. In this enjoyable and entertaining read will have you laughing out loud with all the guys shenanigans. This book had everything you need for a great read. Family drama, action, and of course steamy romance. Overall a fantastic start for a new series. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store for these guys. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I loved this book! Who doesn't want to live next door to sexy firemen. Watching them washing through truck with no shirt. Gwen didn't mind that part. Zane was walking sex. But they couldn't get along. She was drawn to him. Zane didn't really mind their sexy baking neighbor. When he had to save her, the fire was blazing with them also. The other part of the story is the mystery surrounding Zane's alpha, Draven. Are the dragons coming to wipe the out. I can't wait for the next book. How are they going to defeat the dragons? I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.
