故事开始于一个虚构的城市浅川，北方一个长满了高大香樟的城市。几个年轻的人开始自己的高中生活，一切都似乎格外的平静和缓慢，带着夏日特有的让人昏昏欲睡的叙述情绪，仿佛夏日午后浓烈如同泼墨的阳光一样。故事就在这样的环境里开始。接下来，几个高中生开始了各自曲折的人生路程，因为傅小司的画而喜欢了他已久的立夏，让他渐渐喜欢上了自己，二人最终在高中度过了幸福的高中时光；陆之昂的母亲因为癌症去世，深深地改变了他的性格；而傅小司因为参加上海的津川美术大赛一举成名，成为全中国都小有名气的插画家。

之后那些曾经在一起的年轻人因为毕业而分离，立夏和傅小司去北京中央美院继续念书，陆之昂因留学而去了日本，而七七为了歌唱到了上海。从小孤独的遇见，为梦想被迫放弃了自己在浅川的一段与青田的美好感情而在高二退学单独去了北京，开始为实现自己的歌唱的梦想而努力。从此每个人的命运都有了千差万别，而一开始缓慢而安静的叙述被快节奏的变故所取代，成人世界的大门打开，里面的世界一点一点地展现在他们面前。在傅小司的画集发行后，他红遍了全中国。而立夏成为了傅小司的助手兼他的另一半，七七在大学期间因为一次陪朋友参加歌唱比赛而成为了歌手，在发完第一张唱片之后飞速成为全中国的青春偶像，而一直为了唱歌而努力的遇见，坚持在北京辛苦地生存下去，因为她没有放弃成为最好的歌手的梦想。

在世界的各个角落这些曾经拥有梦想的年轻人都在各自的奋斗。然而，陆之昂的入狱、程七七的背叛、立夏的离开、傅小司的悲伤……他们因沾染世俗而变得随波逐流，他们在美好的友情中摧毁自己，他们因至深的友情、比爱情更加珍贵的友情而遗忘当初最美好的承诺……正在每个人都被急速到来的世界冲撞得看不清未来的时候，他们并不知道之后的更大的逆境就要降临，也正是接着的种种事件，几乎完全逆转并摧毁了每个人的人生……

This is one of the famous work by Guo Jingming. This book is about a love story of a couple in the high school, they both live happily together. But at the lives after educations, the friend of the girl betrayed on her dated the boy, this lead to the couple split. The ending of the story is quite sad and unfortunate, but the boy and the girl still met up at the end. I waited long and the story is finally decided to be filmed as a TV show which was realeased as a drama Tv show in China.

What is youth? I think Guo Jingming told me. A young heart carries a full dream and runs on the horizon. Even if the summer sun is glaring, we must sweat with our youthful wings, and we are always working hard and running. We must know that we are no longer just a child, so even if you stumble in the road of life, you can't cry, and go on! Put aside the stubborn temperament, the delicate tone, and the life with a confident smile on the face of the adult! Oh! This is what youth is like!
