The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, also called "anointing" and "infilling," simply describes the infilling of the Spirit into the life of the believer. This special anointing has been available to believers since the day of Pentecost. In Chapter One, Personal Experiences, Dennis Smith states that the work of the Holy Spirit is twofold: "the first is to lead us to accept Christ and be baptized in water; the second is to fill us so we can truly live the Christian life and do the works of God." (p.7) "... the changes the infilling of the Spirit will bring to the life of the receiver are: (1) a stronger desire to study God's Word, (2) more earnest prayers, and (3) changes in lifestyles and activities." (p.9) Into Chapter Four, The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, Smith said that in order to receive the Spirit, "we must ask in faith believing He will bestow it. Secondly, we must be willing to give ourselves completely to God." (p.29)

This is but a glimpse of the gems to be found in this book. This easy-to-read, but scholarly small book is not meant to be an in-depth study of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is the steppingstones to a more thorough study on the subject. Smith also asks the question of how we know we have received the Holy Spirit? Is it an emotional experience? I know these were questions I had and now, thanks to this Christian book, I have answers to my questions. I invite the reader to open the pages to learn the answers to these questions and more concerning the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
