Fandom: Harry Potter -------------------------------------------------- A lonely eight year old Harry Potter learns he can talk to snakes, shaping future events in a way not many would have expected.
This long HP series thus far reminds me a lot of my own "Perfectly Normal" fanfic series, and I recommend it to my readers who are looking for something a bit similar to devour. It has some similar themes of a Slytherin!Harry, an awkwardly protective Snape, a pet snake, some pure-blood culture elements, and a relatively realistic take on the long-term effects of child neglect. It's not a copy, it's a unique work in its own right, it's simply playing with similar tropes. It's well-written and edited, with an engaging storyline. I'm currently up to "Pyrite", the third fic in the series.
While short, this is a very sweet and great story in itself already, how Harry and Jax discover the worlds around them, accepting but not too trusting either. I’ll be wondering what (probably) Hagrid will bring, for there are bound to be some changes.
A misspelling threw me off until I read the sentence thrice, but otherwise well written. Very captivating, too.
