This is stupid!

Damn coconut whippin’ my ass like this.

He was a little frustrated with his incompetence in the matter. He tried the wedge idea a couple more times with the same outcome. Finally he just threw the thing at a big chunk of concrete on the beach, left over from when the Japanese held these islands. It bounced off without any harm to the concrete or the shell.

I threw that pretty hard and it didn’t make a dent.

Now he was determined. He went looking for his claw hammer. Found the hammer, retrieved the coconut, placed it on the concrete slab and beat the crap out of it.

He won.

The coconut gave up its life in about 10 pieces and lost all its milk.

Oh well…..hell at least I can eat the meat.

From someone who is not a "professional" author this was really good! Military fiction isn't my go-to, but this did not feel overwhelming technical at all. I could've used a bit more "show" and less "tell" in places. If this was a career author I probably would take off points for that, bit from an indie author I was very impressed. This would be an excellent movie that my husband and I would both enjoy. 4 stars

Kinjitsu is a tale of adventure, courage, drama and deceit. The starts with its protagonist Frank Simmons taking a lonely voyage across the Pacific. On the way he meets many challenges including rough sea, death of the companion cat and other mishaps. But, Frank is a fighter and never gives up. He is blessed to have a strong ship who carries him safely through all the ordeals. However, this ordeal helped make Frank a discovery which could change the face of the world for better or worse. Frank is determined for a better fate and does everything in his power to seal the fate of Kinjitsu. There are links to the WWII and much more adventure and death till the end envisioned by Frank is achieved and Kinjitsu is in safe hands.

Sam Skinner the author brought out a great personality in the form of Frank Simmons. The hero has both his strong and weak points but his head is in the right place. The narrative of the long journey in the Pacific is fascinating and I loved the part where the hero tried to break open the coconut to drink the milk inside. I as a reader felt instant connection with the hero and was really surprised by the climax. The introduction to most of the other characters are kept short and the author has refrained from giving names to minor characters to save any type of confusion. To sum up the story is delightful, wistful, adventurous and refreshing and I enjoyed reading every part of it (even the ones that made me sad).

A wonderful story about a man who is set on a voyage, overcome his fears and determined to give the key information into the right hands. It is journey of Frank Simmons to complete his mission or at least try to his last breath. He faces many challenges, but his courage defeats all. The plot is very interesting and thrilling from beginning to end and characters unfolds with the story.

Sam Skinner’s, “Kinjitsu: A Thrilling Tale of Deceit, Desire, and Struggle- a Fearless Salute to the Future,” a dramatic adventure that follows Frank Simmons across the Pacific Ocean. He is a great character that Skinner took the time to develop and mold, which I appreciate, because I find dynamic and multi-faceted characters to be something that makes a plot become even stronger. He is obviously an individual who is of sound mind, but also has some questionable flaws, but that is what makes him human and exceptionally relatable. His character development throughout the story is fascinating, as it is a parallel to his devotion to protecting Kinjitsu. There is quite a bit of dichotomy within the story, the highs and lows are eloquently written and makes you shift your mood as you read through the various situations. It was very entertaining to say the least for the connections that Skinner made throughout the course of the story.

There is a good story in here but the format and the pacing where very disruptive to the flow. A couple of the things that were disruptive were the descriptions of people (height, build, and weight) and I always felt like it was repeating something that was said earlier. I did like the book but with some more editing it could have been much better.

Confusion

This was a very different story without a consistent protagonist. It was like there was a thought about a good story but it got along the way. It was hard to follow some of the jumps in the story.

I found this to be a very interesting and entertaining story. I did find that the writing style change a little from the beginning compared to the ending. The story kept me engaged and moving.
