Yet another book with outside of the relationship sex, plus a text from the "other woman" with details of their night together. Why on earth would anyone want to read about a main character having sex, especially the very intimate acts mentioned and in great gross detail, with someone other than the person they end up. This is supposed to be a romance, right? That stuff isn't romantic, it's gross. It ruins the story, destroys that character's morality and credibility and makes it seem as though the person he or she ends up with isn't as important, especially since they're bound to get together soon after that disgustingness. Also, the punctuation is so off and the way it's written makes it very hard to read. Others may enjoy the book, but I did not at all. I couldn't even finish it.
This was my guilty indulgence over the past week. Single dad and Scottish pretty much sealed the deal for me and was the second single dad / deflowering a virgin read for me this weekend.
Mac is a successful businessman, likes to indulge in beautiful women, plays rugby with his mates and has a pretty good life really - okay he does still pine over his ex a bit but he is working through that.
When a social services person shows up at his office to inform him that he is a father to a three year boy whose mother is no longer of this earth he is completely blindsided - as anyone would be. WTF is he supposed to do now? This is how an au pair called Ella comes into not just his but his son Louis life. In fact she moves into his home and completely makes his life so much easier.
Only problem is that she is absolutely stunning, ever since his son arrived he has had an extended dry spell in the bedroom so he is suffering badly from blue balls. This means a lot of unspent sexual energy surrounds him and he expends it by flirting with Ella. She is definitely attracted to him too and eventually heavy petting becomes part of their daily life, they never go as far as second base though.
Until Ella makes a proposition that any sane man would be silly to say not to...
Things are about to get very sexy as the foreplay ramps up a notch or 10.......
Single Daddy Scot by Donna Alam a five-star read you will want to marry. Yummy Yummy Yummy, comes to mind when I think of this book. Macormac Adams is a man who makes me want to run all the way to the gym. I would happily stalk him anywhere. He’s a busy man and when something pops up in the shape of a little boy he knew nothing about, he really is someone who could melt the knickers off a nun. (I know sister Gertrude will be turning in her grave right now agreeing with me) When things start to get too much he gets some help, an ho-pair (au-pair in scot mother speak). Things should go smoothly as Mac has things to remember to help him stop from wanting his au-pair. But what happens if twenty-three-year-old virgin Au-pair Raphaela Alescio wants Mac? Would he be able to help her out of a predicament? This was funny in ways and places you don’t expect and had circumstances that made you want to swallow your tongue as well as other body parts. It was hot and heavy and filled in all the right places. Mac may well be my favourite Scot and that’s saying something as he has some amazing company. There was one scene that made me smile so big I thought my face cracked and if you have read Donna’s other book you will recognise the scene. (All that hotness in one room, that would melt more than just panties, the pasty’s may come off then as well and I ain’t talking about Greggs pasty’s). Well done Donna on a sublime read, I can only go back to being Stalker McStalkerton now until you grace us with the next amazing read.
There are possessive men, and there are true Alphas, and then, as if to tempt and torture women everywhere, from the deliciously wicked, witty and salacious mind of Donna Alam comes Mac Adams!! Christ on a cracker! What this woman can do with words in creating the imagery of a dirty mouthed, physically impeccable specimen with a Scottish brogue, is enough to incinerate a girl's panties!
Mac is now my all time favourite of Donna's heavenly Scots. He is the perfect mix of grumpy frustrated male, with a filthy way with words, and a surprising soft marshmallow centre that he keeps well guarded, until his "Big Man" and the lovely Raphaela crash into his world. Between learning to be a single Dad, and having a luscious young au pair living under his roof, Mac has a lot of adjusting to do, and this extends to his trousers, as the chemistry with he and Ella burn up the pages. I can't ever remember getting so hot and bothered reading without ever getting to the actual act!! You're killing me woman!
But both these two are holding back secrets, and amongst the angst of revealing their truths, throw in some hilarious family interruptions (I mean, we can never get enough of Natasha), a couple of unwanted lewd advances, and a cute little man and his feral rat of a pet, and this rib tickling sexy romp ticks all the boxes!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest and voluntary review, but I will be purchasing as well and gifting this, as it's just THAT good!!
The latest installation in Donna Alam’s series about the Scottish men and women from the same town doesn’t disappoint. This is the first time in this series where one of the leads has a child. (Playing His Games features the male lead, Dan, who is also a father.)
Ella comes along just when Mac needs her the most. This virginal au pair is going through a bit of a quarter-life crisis. (Having gone through one myself, I can relate and YES this is a real thing!) Although not all people approaching the age 25 mark go through the phenomenon, the quarter-life crisis is where you’re an adult, but not sure what to do next. Ella wants a degree in Early Childhood Education and has just returned from Paris. Like many of us do, she realized that while she can change her physical location, wherever she goes, she brings herself along with her...and one cannot escape oneself nor all the emotional baggage one may drag behind her. I know this to be true because like Ella, I tried to figure out life by running to different places to see if it was the place and people in that place bringing me down.
Unfortunately, that’s never been the case for anyone. If you’re unhappy in London, eventually you’ll be unhappy in Paris, Rome, Berlin or Timbuktu. That’s just geography. It’s much harder a task to face yourself, realize you’re the problem and figure out what makes you happy. It’s easy to travel, much harder to bloom where you are planted.
But I digress. Louis, the child, takes to Ella like ducks take to water. What happens when Ella becomes the nanny/au pair? Well, you’ll have to re@d it to find out.
There are funny times as well as smexy times. Ms. Alam has also provided the readers a “Wee Scottish Dictionary”, for those of you who haven’t devoured Outlander...or for those of you who get confused by the terminology. I didn’t really need it, but since Mac is as Scottish as they come, it was a good idea to add the definitions to the less common terms.
Overall, there’s nothing to disappoint. Nothing scary, nothing trite, nothing over the top. There will be some surprises and a cameo is made by everyone’s favorite “so bad he’s good a boy”, Kit (from One Dirty Scot, he also appeared in Playing His Games....that dude pops up everywhere!).
There’s going to be some steam, the kid doesn’t annoy or detract from the story (there have been books where the kid was whiny or annoying and Louis is a sweetheart). It’s a fun book and was a pleasure to read. I suggest you get it for the low price it’s at right now because it’s totally worth it. There are bonus items at the end, but since I like for people to be surprised, you’ll have to get your own to find out what. 😉
I voluntarily read an arc of this book for a fair and honest review. Mac was doing everything and everyone trying to get over the newly married and out of his reach Fin. No blue eyed blonde was safe. His sex life was a lather and repeat lately. Ella, had just returned from her a pair job in France. She decided she wa going back to university and start all over again, at the age of twenty three, to get her degree in early childhood development. Mac was busy running his gyms, fending off the ladies, and weekend rugby games when his life turned upside down. When someone from .social Services comes by his gym and informs him that he has a three year old son and the boy’s mother was killed in a car accident. Mac has no idea what to do with a child, let alone a child he was never aware of. And who knew kids had off from school in the summers? Mac needed help. Enter Ella. Even though Ella thought their first encounter a mistake, I was happy to read that Mac didn’t. Some people just write books (Alexis Angel, Cassandra Dee) but they are not authors. An author tells a story that is unique, complex and not entirely predictable. There doesn’t need to be seven men and one woman to make a story. There only needs to be be two perfectly/imperfect people who meet, and start with one step at a time on the road to their story, their life, and their love. And THAT’S exactly what with Author, does. Sooo good.
This is Mac and Ella’s story, and it is fan-dabby-tastic. Seriously.
The characters are just so loveable and straight to the point. Mac is blunt about his feelings from the start. Telling Ella exactly what he intends to do to her. His words are HOT! Oh man! Ella is as sweet as they come. She’s to the point, caring, loving, and perfect for Mac.
Mac’s friends Keir and Will bring the banter and laughter I have come to expect from Donna, and she really upped her game with these two. They are hilarious. We usually get the girls banter so to get the boy’s was amusing. I’m hoping we’ll see more of them in future books.
And Mac’s kid, Louis, OMG, Donna portrays him so well. His quirky little word mistakes, and I can just hear his voice in my head lol.
This book was just sooooo amazing. I may have said it before, about her previous books, but THIS is definitely Donna’s best to date. I could just read and reread and reread Mac’s story. Give me a Single Daddy Scot any day!!
Donna Alam’s hottest Scot and best one yet! This one might be about Mac but it’s equally a story about Ella. Mac is going about living his very single, very sexually active, work laden life when a son he never knew about shows up on his doorstep with no other family except Mac. Mac knows nothing about children and needs help with Louis and finds Ella, an au pair. The attraction between Mac and Ella is immediate upon their first meeting but they each have their own baggage to contend with, even without their professional relationship getting in the way. Mac is pining for a lost love and Ella is trying to find herself after splitting from her fiancé who wasn’t who she thought he was.
Mac is hot and not what Ella expected a dad to look like. He wants her in all the ways she needs to be wanted and he’s not afraid to tell her. She’s desperate to give up her v-card at 23-years old, and thinks Mac may be just the man to help her out. Ella is sweet and caring and everything Mac doesn’t even realize he needs.
I connected to Ella on a personal level so I couldn’t put this one down because I had to find out if she found her happily ever after. This book is hot and funny and you won’t want it to end.
I truly fantastic, pleasurable and entertaining read. Single Daddy Scot is sexy, sweet, hot, with laughing out loud moments and enough dirty talk to light your knickers on fire. The banter between the H/h is delightful and relatable. The friendship and relationships of the other characters in the book are also well written and keep you engaged. I love how Ms Alam doesn't water down the Scots speech patterns, allure and overall sexy appeal of Scottish Men with a kilt or without. Donna Alam has created with Mac another yummy and stunning alpha male ; perfect addition to her other books and the Tremaine brothers, Kit being my favorite. Read this book, you won't be disappointed, it will leave you with a smile on your face and naughty thoughts.
Single Daddy Scot is a highly entertaining and enjoyable read. Sweet but so sexy, this book focuses on the romance that blooms between single dad, Mac and newly hired au pair, Ella. Packed with heat and steam this is a very sexy romance. A well written book that features complex main characters and also a great cast of support characters. An all around awesome read. I am posting an honest review after reading an arc copy of this book.
I love Donna Alam's scots! They are so hot and alpha and make me squirm with their dirty talk. And to top it all off Mac is a single dad. 😍 What's not to love?!? I always find her books extremely easy to read and enjoy the characters.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I simply adored this book so I am going to buy it when it becomes available!
This book was moving, emotional, and downright erotic all at once. I didn't want it to end! The story moved at a good clip with both familiar faces and new, memorable characters, engaging plot turns, sexy Scottish accents on nearly every page (YUM), and it also had the hottest, most vivid teasing you've ever read.
Mac, the male lead, was a single self-made man who owned a chain of gyms and was, at heart, a very honourable person. His world was turned on it's head when he discovered he was father, and only living parent, to a darling four-year old boy, Louis. Being new to parenthood, he quickly learned he was in over his head and he accepted advice to hire an au pair; an au pair he took one look at and fell deep in lust with.
Ella, the female protagonist, was the shy, child-loving young woman with self esteem issues whom Mac hired to help with his son. Ella and Louis forged a quick yet enduring connection, which made for several warm, heart-melting scenes. She was such a kind, patient, and nurturing character that, even though her attraction to her boss was unprofessional, I couldnt help rooting for her to win him over; she definitely deserved a happily ever after. (and so did Mac)
The chemistry between Mac and Ella was full-on combustible with steam and teasing aplenty. Trust me, it was HAWT.
The story wasn't just naughty antics, it also had sweet tender moments as Mac and Louis adjusted and learned to live with each other, learned to love and depend on one another. Watching their relationship develop into a true father and son bond was magical and beautiful. Ella played her part wonderfully as she helped to build the bridge that enabled it to happen.
Secrets and petty rumors tested the bonds of trust once Ella and Mac embarked on a relationship of their own, which caused grief and some heartache; but it also caused them to really examine what they meant to each other and attempt to work their way past the upset. Even when at odds, the sparks between Mac and Ella were at full voltage!
Honestly; I recommend this marvelous tale that demonstrates perfectly that sometimes what we think we want isn't even close to what we need. And that life, in it's craziness, oft-times knows best.
Single Daddy Scot by Donna Alam is a sexy and delightful romance read that is delicious, wicked, and witty. This is Mac Adams story and what a story it is. Mac was trying to do everything to get over newly married and out of his reach Fin. No one who is blonde was safe and he was quite the active man, sex wise. But then things were becoming somewhat boring since he was just doing the same things over and over. He finds out suddenly that he has become a father when a social worker shows up on his doorstep with his son and tells him that the child’s mother is dead and he is the father. That is how the story starts and from there is gets really exciting. We meet Ella who had just returned from her a pair job in France. Her ex fiancée wasn’t who he led her to believe and she got her heart broken plus she didn’t have a great home life with her dad and step mom. She decides she would go back to university to get a degree in early childhood development. She is recommended to Mac as a nanny for his little son. As soon as they meet, the chemistry is electric. Mac is hot and not what Ella expected a dad to look like. He wants her in all ways that a man can want a woman and he’s not afraid to tell her. Mac is one hot Scots man, he has a filthy , sexy dirty mouth on him and he will make you want to drop your panties, that’s how good he is. Mac goes back and forth over will he or wont he cross the line with Ella. Ella may come across as quiet but she is one sassy woman who is going to be the woman to change the man , change him in ways he never knew he needed. This story has a few twists and turns and the ending has a surprise which didn’t confirm if she was or wasn’t so I wish we were told if Ella was or what was going on. Maybe the next Scots story will update on that. Overall this was one good boss to lover , single dad story that I really enjoyed! My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Mac is a sexy alpha that we met in a couple of the author's previous books set in this same world. Here, he finally gets his own story, and what a story it is! He starts off quite contemplative, which for Mac means he's being surly and moody, all because the girl he thought was the "one who got away" just got married. As he's sorting out his feelings for her, he discovers that he has a son, a little boy who desperately needs a father. And that means Mac desperately needs a nanny, or au pair.
Ella is at a crossroads in her life, and realizes that spending the summer as an au pair before heading back to school is the best opportunity available, so she shows up on Mac's doorstep and promptly lands smack in the middle of Louis's heart. Mac is instantly enchanted not just by her beauty but also by her instant ability to connect with his son, something that Mac has been struggling to accomplish.
To say that all three of these people desperately need each other is a vast understatement, and the beauty of this book is watching them - each individually and together - come to the same conclusion. Mac and Ella have such a strong chemisty, but they also have a much deeper soul connection that pulls them together despite all the reasons against it.
As I've come to expect from this author, the writing is exceptional and the dialogue is so on-point that it sounds authentic in my head as I'm reading. It's a funny, charming, and steamy love story that fairly pulses with energy and keeps you turning pages as fast as your eyes can devour the words. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Single Daddy Scot: A Single Dad Romance written by Donna Alam and voluntarily reviewed this book. The Hot Scots friends/family clan is enlarging now, with the welcome addition of Mac’s hot au pair Ella and newly claimed son. With a singular visit from a social worker, Mac Adams gets the life-bomb-drop of his life to date: he is now an insta-father to a little boy named Louis. His parents sweep in to help with the settling in to his role of a father, but soon they give him the handover nudge, and Mac is left to deal with a toddler who is prone to night terrors and seems to take to just about everyone but him.
The only reason why Ella had even ended up on his doorstep in the first place was due to her calculating stepmother, who had only offered Ella’s help most probably for intended personal gain. But this, of course, backfired on her as soon as Mac had set eyes on Ella’s natural beauty, and because Ella had been able to draw Louis into her confidence in the space of a mere five minutes, she was hired by Mac on the spot. But both their pasts hold their minds captive, as they both yearn for more or what could have been. When their bodies rule over their minds, then it is only a matter of time before their brains finally work things out and realize exactly what they have in each other. I absolutely enjoyed and loved the slow-burning heat smoldering between Ella and Mac as well as all the sassy & witty conversations between Mac and his friends and family; Nat was surely the winner when it came to dropping new-to-me Scottish terms 😁
Well Ms. Donna, you've done it again. Every time I think, that was my favorite, you give me another. I super serious this time, I love Single Daddy Scot.
Firstly, and most importantly, the Scots just do it for me. Secondly, Mac is just the bomb.
I was to be in Scotland last week and unfortunately had to cancel my trip, but I had told my hubs I was going to find me a Scot in a kilt and I wasn't coming home. He laughed being used to my nonsense, but I was absolutely not jesting.
Lucky for me, Donna serves me one right up in Mac. I love his humor. I am big fan of funny and all the books in this series have such great "laugh out loud" dialogue. I love Mac's dirty mouth. I could listen to him spout naughty thoughts for hours...days....years. That accent, ladies, I could hear it in my head as I read. Swoon.
Ella is such a great heroine. She had some rough times in a bad relationship and struggled through to come back to herself. She also has a great sense of humor. She is so good with Louis and with Mac for that matter. I liked how she thought things through and wasn't tossed about every little thing.
Love this series and all the characters but mostly love Donna's writing. It is down to earth and believable. I can see people I know in the characters. They speak realistically and interact as I do with my friends.
Hot Scott’s man ✔ Filthy mouth ✔ Full blown alpha ✔ Brooding over a lost love ✔ Smart, gorgeous woman to keep said alpha in his toes ✔✔✔
Here is Mac and Ella’s story. He is a man, sulking one the loss of the woman he loves. A one night stand, turns into a visit years on from a social working saying he is a daddy to gorgeous little boy. Thrown in the deep end, with no idea how to raise a child, he takes on au pair Ella.
She is supposed to be Louis’ nanny, but the chemistry is off the charts from the 1st meeting. Live in nanny equals “just a matter of time”, Mac is about to get a rude awakening with Ella. She may, seem sweet and quiet but she is a fireball that he won’t be able to resist. Crossing the line never sounded like so much fun.
Mac and Ella are funny, and sweet, but I really struggled with the whole language barrier... short cut words and meanings meant I was swapping fro page to page for clarification. If you can over look you'll love this story.
A Macnificent Daddy Scot - Hot, Sexy, and Hilarious - A Sexy Daddy I would love to marry!
This is my voluntary review of an ARC I received. I have read all Donna's books and loved each of them.. but this one was definitely the best so far!!
I loved the banter between Mac and his friends, and watching him and Ella's passion for each other grow, despite insecurities nearly ruining everything..
Mac learning to be a dad had some fantastically hilarious scenes where I found myself laughing out loud - one in particular I could just picture so clearly, with a mixture of yuk and laughter - if you read the book you will know exactly which bit I mean!!!
There were also some twists that link back to previous books and I got this "of course" moment...
I loved every page and couldn't put it down until it was finished - my only disappointment was that it came to an end!
This is the first book in this series that I have read and holy hell!! I am definitely going to be checking out the rest!! These characters are fantastic. The banter between Mac and Ella is hilarious...actually the banter between all of the characters is great!! So easy to forget where you are when you are reading this book (and that you have to go to sleep at some point). It had me alternating between giggling (awkward dog moment) and fanning myself whilst muttering OMG (pretty much anytime Mac spoke to Ella). Add in little Louis and you have the perfect book!! Thank you Donna Alam for a great read!! I have only read a few of your books so far but I will definitely be rectifying that!! Highly recommend this author!!
I received an ARC of this book. At first i had a little trouble keeping up with the Scot (thank goodness there is a dictionary to decipher words) but I soon got into the swing of this book. Mac and Ella’s story is sexually charged for the get go. Ella’s character was beautiful and sweet and down to earth. I loved Macs bluntness straight to the point alpha-tude towards Ella. He was straight from the beginning of his intentions but what happens when those intentions change... you have one hell of a love story with a beautiful ending!!
What is not to love about this book, one hot scot, one cute kid, a fiesty au pair. This had my attention from the start, it was entertaining and steamy, Mac and Ella had such amazing chemistry, I couldn't put it down.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my own opinion
This was such a great book by Donna Alan, who has become one of my most favorite authors. The story is about Macormac, a Scot who owns a bunch of successful fitness salons as he adjusts to raising his young son, Louis who has just come into his life. Imagine Macs surprise to learn he has a young son with the boy’s mother dies in a car accident. Despite all his efforts, young Louis is having difficulty adjusting with his hulking father. Enter young Raphael/Ralph/Ella who has just returned from an au pair position in France and speaks, fluent French, which is Louis’s native tongue. Oh, and she is also a Virgin. When Ella makes great strides she makes an impression on the boy as well as his daddy. I read the last chapters with great trepidation as I knew this sweet romance with some of the hottest seduction scenes I’ve ever read was soon coming to a HEA. Donna Alan has a knack for pulling you into the romance and satisfying your need for some sizzling sexual encounters.
It was a really good book. I enjoyed the characters and the story but there a few issues. It was a bit difficult to understand at times especially the part where they were altogether in Scotland and it was only when the book finished that a mini dictionary was provided. Which wasn’t helpful as by then we have already read the book.
The history with his sister and Dylan gets mentioned a lot yet we never get to understand it even at the end when they had their fight I had no idea what was going on. I presume there is a book about them but still confusing for those of us who haven’t read it.
The notions of virginity were also very much back in the day. Most virgins are open about it. It is not something to be shameful or about or to be repeated so much as something of a shock that a 23 year old is a virgin. It is actually quite normal and somewhat common. It is strange that the theme of ‘oh poor me the virgin girl that no one will ever understand’ was carried out so much.
My first book by Donna and I’m thinking “Where have I been???” This was bloody fantastic!!!! It had everything I could want in a book!!! The comedic relief was absolutely HILARIOUS!!! I was crying I was laughing so hard!! It had hot af sexy times and a beautiful love story!!!
Mac, one of the resident hottie bachelors and a man whore to boot met his match when he meets the beautiful, timid, ugly duckling (although that’s how she saw herself not how anyone else saw her).
Ella was so down on herself after a horrible relationship, not abusive but something that would hurt any young woman. She also had the worst family in the world. It’s no wonder she saved herself for the right time/man. She was absolutely refreshing!!
THEN we have Louis, the son that made the book. He was so precious!! I’m a sucker for the kids ya know☺️
This was so wonderful and such a fun book!!! I will be reading more of her books!!! I freakin loved it!!!!
