When Austin Tremain is shot during a gunfight, Jericho has to take over as marshal of Wardtown. But is he prepared to step into the boots of Tremain? Things become complicated when the girlfriend of an outlaw raider lands in the Wardtown jail. Jericho has to handle the threat of the outlaw and his gang, and his own growing feelings for the girl.
Brad was born in rural New England and grew up reading Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, A.B Guthrie, Jr., and even Edgar Rice Burroughs. He knew at 14 he wanted to write for a living, and refused to give up the goal even when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against it. Now, thanks to Amazon, his stories are now available. He is a member of the Western Writers of America
Brad fell in love with the Old West at a very young age. It began with movies and old TV series like GUNSMOKE and BONANZA, and later expanded to western novels. This led to his study of western history. The pioneers, the Indians, the cattlemen, the gunfighters. His interest in history is not so much about wars and great leaders, but the people who lived on the land. And that's what he writes about. The people. He doesn't write about the old west as much as he writes about what it might have felt like to be there.
He loves contact from readers. He can be reached by email at mccabewesterns@gmail.com if you want to discuss his stories, or even just the American West in general.
After the sheriff is shot up, a young deputy chases after an outlaw gang. Nabbing a passel of outlaws, one of the mendicants is a girl, who just happens to be the fiance of the head outlaw.
The outlaw comes looking for his girlfriend, and we get a standoff, and a romance.
I, some how, missed this book while reading all the others in the series, and found this one to be the best. I am certainly impressed with Mr. Brad Dennison's writing ability and his selection of great western story telling. I am hooked on his ability to maintain his readers attention from page one to the final paragraph.
Wish I could away more than the five stars allowed, but just to let you great western novelists know, if it has Brad Dennison on the cover do not miss getting the book.
It goes without saying: Yes, I recommend this story without any reservations. To not read this series is definitely a loss for true western readers. Their is so much caring and concern for the reader in all of Mr. Dennison's novels, that your interest in caught within a very few lines of any of his novels. Do not miss this opportunity, as you will be the loser!
BD has written about a young man who leaves Ohio and ambles along until he is in Texas. He begins as A town swamped and then is hired to be a deputy marshal and Texas Ranger. Her save a young girl, puts her in jail, Then they become friends. Her nemesis comes for her and is killed in the foregoing fight. The good guys overcome the bad guys and the marshal gets the girl. This is an excellent read for the genre.....EzR
Jericho learns how really good he is as a Marshall, a Ranger, a crack shot and a man. He also finds out first-hand what love is and enjoys it. The wicked always lose to the good no matter how long it takes. Good men will defeat the wicked, even if they lose some other good men in the battle.
I look for character development in my favorite novels—and this one has it in spades. Jericho and Millicent both come a long way over the course of this story. Jericho’s story actually began in Wardtown, the previous book in this trilogy (unfortunately I couldn’t find the first book in the series).
If you're a fan of Brad Dennison or a first time reader Jericho does not disappointed. As he always does Mr Dennison imbued his stories with excitement, action, and romance without graphic violence or sex. A western author both adults and teens can enjoy.
Awesome! I have really enjoyed reading this book.I really hope there are more books on Jericho Texas Ranger. I really enjoy books on the Texas Rangers and U S Marshall's. Look forward to more books by this author. Thank you for a awesome read.
The story started different and by a writer I had not remembered reading. Austin and Jericho were interesting characters. The use of different guns was interesting
Jericho follows in the footsteps of his mentor, Austin Tremain. He fights against a notorious outlaw who wants to take back a girl Jericho has fallen in love with. Great action and well written.
It was good, worth reading..... A good story, but not as exciting as I would think a western would be. Not enough action. That's my thoughts, read it and see what you think.
Tried to sit this book down, didn't work. Many of those how is he going to get out of this? And , I can't believe he's going to do that. Right on Mr. Dennison.
Really enjoyed this installment of the Texas Ranger books. Good descriptions, entertaining characters and plot really bring this time period to life. Only complaint is they're usually too short.
Excellent author who develops great individual, likable characters while weaving an intricate story. Definitely on my top five favorite western authors.
I know it is a western. Brad Dennison has that covered. It is a fantastic western. But the romance part is so honest and touching. Thanks for a great book!
