The Oldest Soul - Aquarius

Rate this book
Roman’s not like the other King souls in Primitus, he knows that. He thinks about things other than survival, like why the sun no longer sets or rises. He questions the strict laws and beliefs they are forced to live under. And he doesn’t buy the official narrative about what happened to the world, why there’s nothing left but suffering and death—that it’s all Eve’s fault. Chosen to lead a special operation, from Primitus to Antiquus and back again, the strange journey turns into an unexpected rabbit hole of answers. He discovers he’s in the last epoch, living in what’s left of the third dimension; a dimension that’s collapsing. And that there’s a higher dimension, called Aquarius. He must get to Aquarius, to Eve, and bring the rest of humanity with him. But first, he needs to learn what’s creating this reality and why he’s still in it. He’ll need to unravel the secrets of existence, and the mysteries of the universe. The fate of humanity depends on it.

Tiffany has said that the story of The Oldest Soul had been "making its presence known" for several years.

Eve first sprang into her mind--like a bucket of cold water in the face--while on a walk in 2011, she promptly went home and wrote the first 4 pages (which have remained unchanged since). But she filed Eve's one-of-a-kind journey away in her mind when work on other projects beckoned.

"I've been a writer of all forms of stories since I was around seventeen and the potential success of one of my TV pilots took me further from Eve's story, but what I didn't realize was that I was always amassing inspiration for what would one day become The Oldest Soul. Everything in my world somehow always circled back to Eve."

In the spring and summer of 2015, in a matter of months, she breathed life into ANIMUS, or rather, it breathed life into her ...

"The story is a force of nature--and seemed to move through me like an incredible breath of life from someplace else." Tiffany has always said that stories "know what they want to be." And that as a writer she feels it's her job to "show up and get out of the way." Never has that felt so true than when Eve is telling her story. "Honestly ... I just write it down."

"Elaborate worlds infused with real human emotions and strong characters with thought provoking stories are what fills my soul." Tiffany has spent the past few years creating such worlds in the form of original feature screenplays and T.V pilots as a screenwriter. She is represented by David Boxerbaum at Paradigm Talent Agency. The Oldest Soul - ANIMUS is her debut novel.

Overall I actually rather liked the Old Souls Trilogy but I really don't think they are a 4+ rated series.
The ideas behind it are great and I love how the author seriously thinks outside the square and challenges us as readers with everything that she brings up.
What I don't like about the series is that I feel like the beginning of each book started in the middle of nowhere and had me completely lost. A lot of random things were thrown in and majority of the books I found just flickered all over the place.
I feel like they could have been a lot better but not a bad series overall.

Satisfying

I very much enjoyed the story on its own merit. I also enjoyed how the story combined various creation mythologies seamlessly. (All religions are one, after all.) I also appreciated the reminder of my own divinity.

Really good read. Thought provoking and engaging on a nuanced spiritual level. My only criticism is that the story felt kinda rushed as it finished. There was not the same rich detail and engagement in the final pages as there was in the rest of the book and series. Still a fantastic read.

Loved this trilogy!

I loved this trilogy! And I won't say anything about the end. Nice parallels to things we are witnessing happening now, too! Very nice job, Tiffany! If you write more of this story, I would buy! Thank you!

The ending felt rushed. The series was very interesting, however it seemed to end almost sbruptly.
