Was intrigued by the summary and the high ratings, but story came out as flat to me. I always enjoyed reading about heroines with painful past, since the story is always on their healing processes. Charlie was in denial when it comes to her pain, ok I get it, but her denial took up a majority of the short story that there was no healing process but a bam, I’ve move on, done with grief two-liner. While I loved the potential story line, I can’t get behind because of again, Charlie’s way of dealing with things....by not dealing with them...overall think I was done with the book after reading 50% but kept going since it was such a short read. Sorry but this book did not live up to the blurb.

With fast-paced scenes, characters to feel for and a rocky romance, this is a fantasy to pick up and get lost in.

Charlie is a witch and a top enforcer in a type of police force, but when a bust goes bad and her friends die, she struggles to gain her footing again. When the chance to catch her team's murderer arises, she can't turn it down. Not only does it mean putting her own life in the line as she hunts down the dangerous enemy, but she's forced to face her own past and the life-time bond to a sexy demon she's been trying to ignore.

The first page already draws into action pure and continues down this stream the entire way through. Charlie lives a dangerous life, but she's no push-over. Her strong and powerful exterior is inspiring, while her own self-doubt and problems with denial make her hard not to feel for and like. She's kick-butt but she doesn't always win and has some lessons to learn on the way. Her decisions and actions are not illogical but understandable, even when they aren't always right. In other words, she's easy to cheer for and cry with when things go wrong.

This is a vibrant world with plenty of action scenes. Something is always happening, and most of it hits unexpected. There are many questions to be answered, not all of which are tied up by the end of the book. But being a series, that only means there's more to look forward to. The beginning sails in quick and I did find myself wishing there might have been a book before this one to fill in some holes—ones which must have had exciting scenes to go with them. But everything stands fairly solid, with only a few unexplained stumbles toward the end when the pace suddenly comes across as rushed (which is too bad considering this book really isn't that long and could have been drawn out.) I really loved the characters enough to have wished they would have stuck around a little bit longer. But that will wait until book two as well.

The romance is a wonderful push and shove. There is a ton of dislike and uncertainty, but the hero has everything needed to knock it up a notch or two. The interest grows with time and fits nicely into Charlie's own emotional development. It's definitely a love story with lots of pricks and surprises.

This is sold as a young adult novel, and although the material is appropriate for this audience, Charlie does not come across as a teen. She's working in a normal career, waiting for marriage proposals and has both feet fully planted in life. In other words, it's a book adults will easily feel at home in. There are also a few editing hiccups, but nothing to ruin the story. I definitely can't wait to see where the next book goes.

I received a complimentary copy and was caught up enough in this exciting story to want to leave my honest thoughts.

Shadow Walker is the first book in Tiffany Shand's new Shadow Walker trilogy. After her team is killed, Charlie McCray abandons her dream and moves in a different direction. When the opportunity to find out of a notorious group called the Tears is involved, Charlie jumps at the chance - even though it means working along side the delectable demon, Drake, who thinks they are mates. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed and danger lurks around every corner. Charlie must see it through in order finally have peace in her life after blaming herself for the deaths of everyone on her team.

Shadow Walker is a fast-paced urban fantasy that takes you on a rollercoaster ride and not just concerning the search for her team's murderer. Charlie also has a boyfriend that is decidedly not Drake. While not overshadowing of the plot, there is the triangle that Charlie must traverse while working on her case. One man is distracting enough but when feelings she tried to block for Drake begin to squeeze through the cracks in the wall around her heart where he is concerned, Charlie finds herself distracted by two as she tries to navigate through the crime she's trying hard to solve.

I really enjoyed Shadow Walker. Charlie is a likable protagonist who cares very much for the team she lost. She's conflicted between Scott and Drake, both of whom she she cares for even if she denies the pull the Drake. The only issue I have with the triangle is the treatment of Scott by Charlie after Drake waltzes back into her life. Charlie was a bit high schoolish instead of acting like an adult. In the end, I think Charlie will get her romantic life sorted out, but until then we'll probably see more denial regarding Drake while trying to truly figure out who and what she really wants. And that's okay. Relationships are tough, especially when you have two suitors.

Tiffany Shand wrote a hit novella with great character development and wonderful world building. The characters are personable and the descriptions used in the book were easy to visualize. I'm excited to get my hands on the rest of the trilogy and can't wait to see how the story progresses in book 2.

I received this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book has so much potential and I'm so upset that it did not live up to what it could be. I am giving this book four and a half stars. When you read this story the premises and the background is simply amazing. However the execution is what made it for me. This story can easily be 5 stars but the transitions and the way that it flowed was not good. I really hope that when this book gets published on its release date the author goes back into it and realizes that there are some transitional issues and the stories tends to jump from one POV to another without allowing the reader any time to process.

This is the 1st book I’ve read and reviewed for Tiffany Shand and I absolutely loved it. Fantastic read and no I’m not giving any spoilers but I will tell you that I loved this book so much I went and bought the box set. Ok just a little spoiler, Charlie McCray is a Deni witch who works as a enforcer when the bust goes bad and her team mates are killed Charlie goes in search of the murderers. Charlie has a gift and she can communicate with the dead which only helps her so much. That’s it. I loved the storyline and the characters it was a really good read and I definitely recommend you get this book.

Shadow Walker starts the trilogy out with a bang - literally and figuratively. I've been looking forward to this spin-off since reading the Excalibar Investigations trilogy and it didn't disappoint. The story is action-packed and fast paced from beginning to end as Charlie searches for answers and justice. We also have a bit of a love triangle amidst the action, but it's not overly angsty on that part and it's not hard to see which way our heroine is leaning. The world-building is minimal as this is a spin-off, but the story is easy enough to follow on its own. We do get a bit of a cliffy, but I expected that, and I can't wait to see what's next for these wonderful characters.

This story was unique which was awesome. Had promise and mystery. Though it seemed like it was a spin-off of another series and at times it left you clueless with a few details the author mentioned. The story often switched point of views between Drake and Charlie without warning. A few of the sentences in the copy I received didn't make sense, they either were missing a word or were in the wrong order. The time frame of her breakup seemed off as well when reading. I liked the story and would read the others. Book one is for an YA audience and up. As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock I am giving this book 3.5 Hearts

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book . This was a well written urban fantasy love triangle romance. This book is a spin off of the original series which I have not read but had no problem keeping up. Denai witch Charlie McCray is able to communicate with the dead and she uses that gift to investigate the death of her teammates. She's not happy about having to communicate with a demon from her past and fights the attraction they both feel. Lots of drama, suspense and twists to keep you page turning.

Charlie McCray is a Denai witch who wants revenge on those who killed her Major Crimes team members. Charlie and her team were trying to take down a gang of criminals and Charlie was the only survivor. Charlie must rely on Drake a demon from her past for answers. When Charlie died Drake used his powers to bring back Charlie from death and became bound to her. Drake says that they are life mates when he saved her life, but Charlie is doubtful. I was really entertained by this fantastic fantasy romance novel.

A big thank you to the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I liked the book. I read for fun and this kept me entertained. Charlie is likeable and the story is pretty fast paced. I felt there could have been more background. We got hints if the past but no real details. It has a cliff hanger so be prepared. I give it a 4. I will read the next book. I think most Urban fantasy readers would enjoy this.

I think it might've been easier to follow if I had read the previous series. This might explain the past between the main character and the hero, especially the life bond situation.

That said, I followed along and was drawn deep into the book. I'm dying to know more about her heritage and the Scrimtar..... and why did he disappear into the demon realm? I need so much more and hope book is coming soon.

Wow, what a great story. It has strong characters and a great storyline, packed with plenty of action and some romance thrown in for good measure as well as a good twist along the way. this is one of those books that I could write so much about but won't due to not wanting to spoil it for other readers. I can't wait to read more from this author and series. If you love Paranormal romance or Urban fantasy with a touch of romance then you are going love this book.

What a great book 1 in a new Denai Witch series. I loved Charlie and Drake. Their interactions in this story were a hoot. I thought the book was well written and found it sucked me in after the first chapter and before I knew it I was at the end. Signs that it is a great story. I found it to be fast paced with a bit of a mystery started here and be solved in the next books. Thought the ending was a bit surprising and cannot wait to see what happens next.

Wow! What a fast paced book. I was hooked from the very beginning. Great storyline, strong characters with lots of action and an up and down romance between Charlie and Drake make this a book not to be missed. A couple of twists in the plot make you yearn for the next story in the trilogy. I am impressed with this author and will be reading more of her books in the future.

Somehow I didn't like many things about this book, but remain captivated and unable to put it down regardless! Everything that jumps to mind that I don't usually like, or even anoyed me during this read- if I think on it- I still enjoyed? Hmmm maybe this book is like one of those annoying boys you hate but actually love?

Definitely will need to keep reading to find out! I'll let you know when I do!

This is a fascinating world of witches and demons and all sorts of magical people. Charlie is a strong but lost witch, trying to get through life after a tragedy. And Drake is a demon, strong, powerful, stubborn and hot! Charlie is just as stubborn in her own way, and it makes things interesting between them. This is my first trip into this world. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

This is a pretty cool story. The author created a truly unique world of paranormal beings. The story was action packed with a bit of angst and mystery thrown in. There were many different paranormal characters introduced into this story, which made the story very interesting.

I’ll definitely be on the lookout for the next book in this story.

I have read this book as an ARC reader. This is my freely given review.
Charlie McCray lost her team juring a mission in Major Crimes. She wanted the the leader who caused this to be caught, the true leader of a gang called Tears.
Drake Dumont was an agent of the Alliance. He was also a full demon, who was linked to Charlie since the time he brought her back to life. Charlie also had magical powers, she was a mixture of Denais witch, Fey, Phoenix and demon.
They are put together by the Alliance to find the ancient weapon that had caused the deaths of Charlie's team. They were also to find the leader of Tears.
Tiffany has written a fast paced, heart thumping, rocket of a ride book. She keeps the reader totally engaged in the book, and has you almost wanting to look over your shoulder guessing what will happen next.
With her talent evident in every word, she brings the characters to life in such a way that it's like you are another character in the book.
Bravo Tiffany on this amazing book! Eagerly waiting for the next book!
