This novelette was offered as a free download from the author via Instafreebie. I have voluntarily chosen to review the book, and the gifting in no way determines my review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion.
I love it when you discover a new author you would not otherwise have come across - all the better when the story is very well written and the plot engages you from the first page. I wasn't aware that this book is the first of a new series but I'm thrilled because I can't wait to read more about Vincent Castan and his supernatural investigations. The author has cast Vincent in his own universe but the setting has a very medieval feel to it which is quite earthy and enticing. Add in elements of magic and some nasty little (and big) creatures and you have the start of an amazing new series. Highly recommended.
What a cool short story. I loved the concept and the world that is introduced here. I liked the writing and before I knew it I was done. I thought Vincent made a great hero for a new series full of monsters, magic, and things that are scary in the dark. I chose to review it once I had finished it because I really liked the story and thought a chronoleach was a great evil monster to defeat. Well worth reading.
Bobby Fisher is a talented writer knowing how to use the right words to draw you right into the scene. I just got the impression that the original novel was edited and some scenes cut. I had trouble in beginning to place in what time period this was in. I will however read another novel of this author
If you like supernatural mysteries, this book was a very nice bite out of what promises to be an interesting new series. Vincent is a protector of humankind and investigator of supernatural crimes. He is tasked to find out what is happening to the disappearing citizens of Embervale. While he has a huge reputation, we didn't really get to see him in action. We also learn a little interesting backstory that likely led to him taking up detective work. I would like to learn more about the creatures that go bump in the night and the city that houses them. There is quite a bit left to follow up on and I look forward to what mystery awaits Vincent next.
Chronoleech is the first book in the Vincent Castan, Supernatural Investigator series.
Let me start off by saying that CHRONOLEECH is considerably shorter then I thought it would be. I was thinking novella length but it was closer to a short story. That being said, I was impressed by just how well I got to know the main character Vincent. He managed to solve a case and left me with wanting to read more about him and his world.
I do think that CHRONOLEECH is a great introduction to this character and that any of my readers who enjoy urban fantasy would enjoy it. Be sure to pick it up and be ready for future episodes.

Very well written story. It is fresh and new and a good introduction to the series. As the first book in a series it takes a unique approach to showing the main character's backstory and explaining his motives that is very interesting.
I really have to hand it to Bobby Fisher here. You talk about being taken on a wild ride? You need to read this story. You have all the twist and turns that promises to take you farther than you thought you could. I'm now a fan Bobby so keep it coming.
Chronoleech is pretty okay as a short story but I think it would be awesome as a fleshed-out full length book. I really liked the combination of a man overcoming his tragic past while set to a paranormal background. Good read.
While it is short this story packs a punch. It reminds you of what is really important and to see things from all sides. I would be happy to have my child read this.
Chronoleech written by Bobby Fisher was a well written paranormal fantasy. This fast pace, short, descriptive novelette gave us a brief hint of Vincent Castan, monster fighter, investigator. Here we saw how paracites would cast their spell that trap it's victums in their past, in the moment that changed their lives, and in the end would consume them completly. We hardly got to know Vincent, but I do know, I want to get to know him better. I'm ready for the next installment of action, using his quick whit to get him out of a new situation. What will he face next? I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to read. It's a must read. Read and enjoy! I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary honest review. 😀😀😀😀😀😀
A quick read. I liked the format of the story as well as the story itself, with the author revealing backstory with something other than a flashback. Interesting and engaging concept, with a bittersweet but satisfying ending. I think the adventures of Vincent would make a fascinating full length novel, and I look forward to reading more in the future.
