The Love Theorem by Camilla Isley - A STEMinist Romantic Comedy Novel

Camilla is an engineer who left science behind to enter the whimsical realm of romantic fiction.

She writes contemporary rom-coms. Her characters have big hearts, might be a little stubborn at times, and love to banter with each other. Every story she pens has a guaranteed HEA that will make your heart beat faster. Unless you're a vampire, of course.

Camilla is a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading—duh!—cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies—popcorn, please. She's a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn't want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.

this was a hate read 🫢

it was rlly short, super easy to get into given its the second book, we already have an understanding of what’s going on. very fast paced and messy enough to binge read in 2 days.
maybe i’m just not meant to be a love triangle (within a love triangle) girly, bc they all got on my nerves 🥴 haley especially with denying herself what (who) she truly wants. she can’t make up her mind to save her life (that’s ignoring what’s very obvious to everyone around her).
despite this being a love triangle we only (barely) get 2 povs from the main characters, and it’s told from haley’s pov for a majority of it all. madison barley got any screen time, scott’s pov was scattered once or twice which felt rlly random. david’s pov was never mentioned, despite him being a very important character. alice’s i can understand given she’s their best friend but imo it felt unnecessary seeing as she already got her own book and her issues were resolved.

i would’ve liked to see more of madison’s pov, i think her issues that she has going on were rlly interesting and didn’t get enough time to be focused on, same with the williams brothers, i felt like it could’ve given the book a lot more depth.

atp it’s only a matter of time WHEN haley gets with david, they have obvious chemistry she can’t deny and both cant help but act flirty/cheeky with one another. she’s only prolonging the inevitable with scott.

Haley and Madison are best friends and roommates. Haley is deeply in love with Scott and feels that her life couldn't get any better. Madison, however, feels like a nobody. She's been treated poorly in the past and now that she's ruined her cousin's wedding Madison believes she's a bad person. Madison has had a crush on Scott from a distance for a very long time, but unfortunately he and Haley met before Madison had a chance to get close to him. Will their friendship survive the problems that are the result of unanswered love?

Scott and his brother David are complete opposites. Where Scott is kind, sweet and caring, David is a bad-boy with a nasty temper. David has actually met Haley on a masked ball and they kissed. Before they could exchange names and phone numbers David had to run from the police, since he was not invited to the ball. He never forgot about that kiss and neither did Haley. The brothers were in love with the same girl once before and this didn't end well. How will they handle the situation when all of their cards have been put on the table?

My Best Friend's Boyfriend is a fun and interesting story about true love, friendship and honesty. As a reader you learn about who will be a better match and I wished I could play Cupid, just a little bit. The main characters of My Best Friend's Boyfriend have already been introduced in the first two books of the Just Friends series, Let's Be Just Friends and Friend Zone. I always like to read up on characters that I've previously been introduced to and Camilla Isley never disappoints with her lighthearted romantic novels. I've read every book Camilla Isley has ever written and I'm a big fan of her stories. I highly recommend My Best Friend's Boyfriend, just like any of her other books.

4 stars!

Disclaimer, I almost never read College romances. I still read young adult genre if they are out in the world trying to find their first steps into the job world; but not so much if they are still in campus. But Camilla's series has been an exception!

I admit I was reluctant to pick this series up, but I had finished all her other books and let's face it, I love the author's clean good fun style of writing, and would pick up a book even if she wrote about toddlers!

That is not to say this book was faultless, I liked the first of the series with Ethan and Rose the best! But there's too much of mixed couplings, everybody knowing everybody through family or mutual friends for it to not be deemed as convenient but book 3 had so much drama! Even before I could worry about the messiness of roommates and best friends falling in love with same brother, the other brother had a shared past with Haley, my head started spinning. Caught between the love of two brothers , although a good romantic narrative, cannot be pleasant in real life even without the physical component. So although nobody wishes they were Haley, it was fun to read the drama unravalleng in a objective remote way! For her part she came across a bit selfish, Scott was impulsive and David starts off the typical way all bad boy romance heroes start from. It would be easy to say these three were not fully likeable and your heart went out to Madison, although I don't see what she sees in Scott anyway. But all these people made mistakes , young and careless mistakes and the end of the book was a cliffhanger of sorts. More than even worrying about Haley because I think anyone here would have an inkling how this might end I just hope for all the character's sake that it does not end up icky and awkward!

Onward and upward to fourth and the last of the series! I was happy to read about Alice and the brief lines with Rose and Tyler's dilemna with his delusional wife!

It was a bit confusing at first because I hadn't read the other parts but I caught on pretty soon. There wasn't much of a plot anyway. I am bewildered by these soon to graduate college going adults acting like teenagers. All they had to was talk like mature people and stop lying, but no, they choose to go down the over dramatic path. even though the book ended on a "cliffhanger" I doubt i am going to pick up the next book, I simply am not invested in the characters enough, neither do I like any of them particularly.

Review: TBH… i don’t really know what or if anything happened in this book 😆 I Really like this author and her characters and her writing style. I just don’t think there is much of a story after 100 pages. It just seems so repetitive. Will I read the last book in the series… yes lmao just to finish it out and find out which brother Hayley chooses.
Fave part:
1. Masquerades… glad we finally got there

I love this series... and with this book I most definitely fell in love with David... he's the ultimate bad-boy-not-so-bad-underneath.... The masquerade I hadn't seen coming and how I wish I could turn into a book character and be Haley for that night!!

The ending had me screaming, "Nooooo, noooooo, noooooooooooo...." but my heart is still beating only because I know there's another book and I can't wait ...

On the female side, Madison is just too adorable ... I hope something good will come her way.

I love how strong the friendships in this book are, and I also love that is a fresh New Adult novel with no previously-abused-characters/alcohol/drugs/tattooed-fighter-types etc... and all the depressing tropes that seem to appear in most books in the genre. This one is all about love and friendship...

A sweet, flirty rom-com that’s light, fun, and full of awkwardly adorable moments. Perfect for a breezy weekend read.

Just like the first two books "Let's be just friends" and "Friend Zone" written by Camilla Isley, the third book "My best friend's boyfriend" did not disappoint. It was fun, engaging and quite an enjoyable read. The book focuses on a few stories at once but the cherry on the cake goes to the story of two brothers and the love they both share for one girl called Haley. In my opinion the storyline of the 3rd book draws a parallel to the storyline in the first season of the tv-show "The Vampire Diaries", where Scott is Stefan, David is Damon, Haley is Elena and Brigitte is Catherine. So, if you're a fan of the TVD show, I'm sure this story will be a piece of cake for you.
Overall a very interesting story and I can't wait for its continuance in the fourth and final book in this series.

Oy vey! The ending of this one nearly made me throw my phone across the room. Good thing I already have the next book queued because I need to know how this ends.

So, it seems that this series has started to grow on me. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book, but I’m glad I decided to give it a little more time because each story seems to be better than the one before it. I like the characters in this installment much more than I’ve liked the previous ones, and I’m finding myself much more emotionally invested.

I will say this—I’m not sure if I’m on #TeamScott or #TeamDavid at this point. At first, I was totally against David as a love interest because he was a complete jerk to everyone. But then something happened—his walls began to crack and revealed glimpses of a decent guy. Who knew? So now I’m just as conflicted as Haley because I truly do like Scott too.

Now, I’ve seen a few reviews that have really not been kind where it comes to Haley. I actually love her—she’s human, and I think that’s why I’m so drawn to her character. She loves her boyfriend, but she’s also grown fond of David in Scott’s absence. I’ve been there, and it truly sucks. The thing I do like though is that Haley hasn’t acted on her feelings for David (yet). She’s remained true to Scott, at least for the most part (feelings aside).

While the book ended on a cliffhanger, I don’t think for a moment that Haley would have gone any further than drinks with David. She’s just not THAT girl. And to be honest, I’m not 100% sold on Scott being faithful to her while he was away. He really didn’t seem to make an effort to contact her much or really miss her all that much for being gone two months. So I guess we’ll see what happens in the next installment.

As for the other characters, Alice is still cool. Madison is a mess and I’m not really crazy about her character in this book. If anything, I think she needs to get over herself and her unrequited and un-acted upon crush where Scott is concerned.

Anyway, on to the next book...

I cannot absolutely wait to see what happens next!

Loved all the conflicting feelings in this book. I agree that it's so much easier to be on Madison side, I'm so routing for her.

Haley, is more complicated on the other side. She'd multifaceted. On one side I really like that she tries to spare Madison feelings as much as she can. I mean, after all her best friend is in love with her boyfriend and it's not so natural that she would just be okay with it and not get jealous or mean to Madison. It takes strength of character. As for her indecision between the two brothers, well aren't you a bit torn, too?

The sweet one, and the bad boy with scars, I mean... so good!

Loved to keep seeing also all the old characters in there... Just love this series!!!

Uggghhh. Cliffhangers suck!

Good news is that I only have to wait 2 months for the next book!

This was definitely one of the most emotional reads I have had in a while. I connected to all of the characters in different ways. As much as I shouldn’t hate Haley, I can’t help but not like her (even though she’s not the worse person in the world). Then there is David...even though he had a lot of character growth, I still can’t find it in my heart to like him. Scott is adorable as always, and my favorite character was Madeline. I just felt for her so bad to the point that it was difficult to read at certain times (but not in a bad way because my eyes were glued to this book). This book is very predictable, but I am still very excited to find out what happens next.

I love how toxic these books are! They are such a good change up from the fluffy lighthearted books I usually read. They have been so fun! It’s crazy cause these people feel so much more real to me than other romances because we actually see their flaws and mistakes and it makes them feel more human. My only complaint is I need more Madison! She’s my favorite, I love her character, I get her, I understand her, she deserves more, she’s the only one I really care about and I didn’t get enough of her. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed everyone else too (except that pregnant b of course) and they added to the drama, but I need my girl Madison to get her main character moment! Oh and one more complaint, that damn cliffhanger ending 😭 whyyyyyy

Gahhhhh...that ending. I wasn't ready for it to end, but then again, I am never ready. Darn you Camilla Isley! I really enjoyed "My Best Friend's Boyfriend", having received a complementary copy in exchange for an honest review did not sway my opinion in any way. This has been a great series by one of my favorite authors. The story is complex but well written and the characters suck you in and leave you wanting to know more and more with each page. I CANNOT wait to dig into the next book to see how this plot continues to unfold. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, than this is a book, series and author you will want to add to your collection.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

I am actually in love with the Just friends series.
This book focuses on the love triangle between Haley, Madison, Scott and David.
Scott takes an internship in San Francisco for the summer, which leaves Haley, Madison and David alone in Boston. Sounds fine and normal right. Wrong! Madison is still crazy in love with Scott, Haley's boyfriend. David, Scott's bother, is crazy in love with Haley. Confused? Haley is! She has no idea what these feelings she's having towards David are.

This is book is left on a cliffhanger!
I can't wait to get started on the next one.

This story follows Haley and Madison who are unlike any adult womens lives who follow complex loves be they fleeting or be they the person that comes in and out of your life, even if they are not the one you are with.

This book takes you on a journey where friendships and relationships are tested and you are left wondering whether love will prevail.

I wont spoil the story for you.

I felt the story ending was just a little abrupt for my liking but a good story none the less. I enjoy Isley's writing.

I loved this story so much! I'm definitely, 100% on Madison's side and I'm #TeamDavid ... I can't wait to see how it all wraps up.

I love how we still get peeks also to the lives of characters from book one ... and I absolutely adored Alice and Jack's love story so it's great to see also what happens after Happily Ever After... I love this series and I both, want to know how it ends and want for it to keep going on forever....

Really

Okay., I’m obviously addicted to this series. Now I need to get the next one. The characters are probably quite true to life which is sad when you think about it. We so seldom do what really want we live in our heads and not our hearts. I like how David’s true character is becoming clearer and look forward to the next book.
Please remember to keep us posted on the bitch and her pregnancy and with rose Ethan

This book was really good. I loved seeing things from Madison and Haley's perspectives. The snippets of Scott's were such a tease, but I'll get over it. I'm so intrigued to read the next the book. I don't know what I want to happen for the girls and the Williams brothers. My heart is torn just like Haley's and Madison's.

Library Request. This was a very Tame YA romance, but I have to say it was well written, even if I did have to gag on the parents calling Haley Baby Monkey, it was an unnecessary endearment that fell short in my eyes. And I hated the way it ended, making the reader have to pickup the fourth instalment to find out the outcome. Not nice.

This is a love square

Two best friends in love with the same boy, and two boys in love with the same girl... Quite a pickle huh?!
We have Haley, Maddison, and the Williams brothers, bad boy David, and hottie Scott.
I won't give too much away but this book keeps you reading the, will they, won't they til the end. Definitely worth a read, but this is book three in a series :)

Terribly Toxic Triangles

What terrible friends, choosing to have feelings and exercising those feelings, for their friends partners.

I don't understand the group think of neurotypicals and how only personal exceptionalism of a crush, makes you afford a person, personhood.

Imagine fucking a guy who fucked your bestie.

No self worth.

So good

This book was very good but sometimes it got a little dry and I had to push myself to keep reading while I wasn't really that into the book. But after those less interesting parts the book was really good I totally want to know what happened after that huge cliffhanger

Third down, just as disappointed. Going to finish the series to see if this redicuolus friend group comes out of this without surprise pregnancy, a sweep of STIs, or with out the immediate eyeroll because they are ALL so redicuolus.

Another fun read but with a constant tease of not knowing who the main character picks. Truthfully, I am not sure the ending leaves you with a clear selection. I am moving on to the next one in the series to get clarification. Loved the relationship between the 3 female roommates.

Definitely a love triangle within a triangle. I like the style in which it’s written letting us in the different person’s point of view. A nice short read made comfortable with old friends.
