Relentless #2

The Risks We Take

Rate this book
We were the push and the pull of the ocean - a combination that couldn't decide it's ending factor. After twelve years, you'd think seeing each other would be welcome. But too much has changed since we parted.

Ian Wells, former childhood friend of Kasey Miller, is the same boy who moved just before hell broke loose. The same boy that Kasey nursed a crush on since they were five, and the same boy that never called once since the day he left twelve years ago.

But now he was there, living in the apartment next door like he could waltz back into her life. No amount of time could heal how much he missed as they grew up ... grew apart.

All he wanted was to get to know the girl he used to love spending every waking moment with, but all she wanted was to be left alone by the boy she blamed for all the pain.

He was an up-and-coming rock star, and she was an up-and-coming train wreck. Together, they'll have to figure out what risks are worth taking before losing it all.

The best risk I’ve ever taken!

Okay, so this book wasn’t actually a risk for me, but it was catchy wasn’t it 😜

As the second book the the Relentless Series this book follows the lead singer, Ian, of up and coming band Relentless. Ian Wells is super cocky, with his bad boy looks and sex laced voice. Women want him and men want to be him, but does he even know himself after all the fame and fortune?

Then comes Kasey. Hard working, fiercely loyal, and completely closed off, Kasey Miller. With secrets and walls miles high, she tries her hardest to keep her blue eyed admirer out of her life. She doesn’t need nor want the attention from not only her old bestfriend, but from the press as well.

As children these two were inseparable; making dirt pies, sleepovers, and adventures on the playground. Until something sinister splits them apart; suddenly with no warning. Miles and state lines between them tore their friendship to shreds, but neither completely forgot the best friend they left behind.

But as times get hard, secrets come to life, Relentless goes back on tour, and lives are irrevocably changed; will these two take the risk and finally be together?

Another beautifully written 5 Star, phenomenal story by Barbara C. Doyle!!! There’s a little bit of strong willed Kasey in every one of us. Oh, and Ian? So incredibly swoon worthy; he makes my heart melt into a puddle.

This story is so incredibly relatable and Barbara has a way of making you fall for these characters shouting for their happy endings! If you’ve read the first book in this series, I promise you, you won’t be disappointed to see Ian grow as a person, friend, and lover. There may be some ugly tears involved as well....

I recommend this book to anyone wanting a little more heartfelt romance during the holidays. Something to curl up with by a fire with some hot chocolate.

One-click, I promise you won’t regret it.
And if you haven’t yet, one-click The Summer We Changed as well. It’s where you’ll first meet Ian and see him interact with his best friends Will and Tessa, oh and the other members of Relentless.

Wow! I do not have the adequate words to describe how amazing this book is! Ian's & Kasey's story was not an easy one! Their story will have you on an emotional roller coaster. There was just something so special about how this story was written! This is an absolute MUST READ!!!

4.5 out 5 stars
I won this book from a giveaway that the author Barbara was hosting in her group page. I'm so glad I won it.
This is the second book from the Relentless series but it could be read as a stand alone. Unlike the first book, which I reviewed previously, I definitely felt the chemistry between the main characters Ian and Kasey. I love those two! And I'm glad the story ended the way it did.
Kasey has been through a lot growing up and you feel for her. You want nothing but for her to find her happiness.
Another character I loved was Jake, Kasey's best friend. He is such a sweetheart!
I felt that the story and characters where well written and it was fun getting to know them. But be warned, your heart will break as you get closer to the end of the book. Mines did :(
I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves NA Romance books.

This was a new author to me before this book, but I will definitely be checking our other works by her. As you read the story you can put yourself in each of the main characters shoes when you read it from their point of view. The things that Kasey has lived through in her life would have caused many to just give up on life, but she chooses to be strong for her sister. She fights tooth and nail to be there for Taylor because no one in her family has done that for her including her best friend. Ian coming back to find what he was missing life didn’t really have any idea what he was walking back into. He did not know the can of worms he was opening. Jake and Rosie.... wow just great people. Parts of this story truly broke my heart.

I love a story where people realize they actually know each other from school and we’re amazing friends. I know I have friends I’d wish I’d run into and things are different now of course. Our female lead Kasey hasn’t been having a good go of things and is praying to make things work for her and her sis. While her old friend and heartache Ian Mr Rockstar (eye roll lol) feels he is missing something well her to be exact. Is it nice how men wait till it’s convienent for them to be in a Romance? I loved the characters how strong yet vulnerable they can be. Being with someone is not the easiest when you’ve messed up before and also when there is someone else involved who might get hurt. Was a truly enjoyable read and a great introduction to this authors work for me.

I loved this book!
Ian Wells, cocky boybander, who comes back to make amends. Kasey is a gorgeous, shy, to herself type of girl. They were once upon a time best friends...until Ian just up and left. Kasey had to live with her parents splitting up, her dad never coming back for her or her sister, and her mom going off the deep end. Ian got to live his life and have his dreams come true. Until he realized how much he missed Kasey. When he gets back into town, she wants nothing to do with him. Kasey tries to avoid him as much as possible...until she knows in her heart, deep down, he's the one. They both go through this obstacles, life changes, but Kasey goes to find Ian!

Love

This book was wonderful. It felt a little slower than the summer we changed, but the dynamic of it is different. Kasey and Ian were always destined to be together. There were parts of this book that really wanted me to break down and cry at (IF I wasn't at work I probably would have allowed it) lol as always, it left me wanting more. I can't wait for the series to continue! I felt like the ending was a little rushed. So I can't wait to see how other characters will progress as time goes on! ♡ loved it! :)

Okay just make sure to have tissues around when you read this. I am still wiping my eyes and I finished reading this fifteen minutes ago. Ian who cannot help but love him. He is strong, knows what he wants, knows he's not perfect, and determined. Kasey is a girl that has been through a lot she has found out that happiness does not always equal love. This is a book that will put you through the ringer. So many emotions in one book, amazing. Thank you for allowing me to read this and write about it.

I'm enjoying reading this series. This one was a good one as well. Two friends who were separated, who could have been something great until life got in the way. Kasey and and Ian were best friends until he moved away, then she was alone. He becomes a rock star she is taking care of her sister. Stuck in a life she has to live to provide for her. He has it all but is missing something, he lost himself along the way and Kasey is the answer to finding himself and.happiness. but it isn't so easy, but he doesn't give up.

This book was a great read. I really liked Ian in The Summer We Changed and was so excited to read his story. His devotion to Kasey was something that you want to see in every book boyfriend. Kasey drove me little insane with her inability to let Ian in even though it is understandable. I just wish it hadn't taken her so long to realize her feelings, but without that, the story wouldn't have been as good. I can't wait to see more about these characters and all the guys in Relentless!

I'm not really sure how I feel about the ending of this book. I know there was 12 years of an absence but the reason for her hating Ian was so stupid. They were 10 and he had no control over leaving and keeping in contact with her. Also the ending was quick. Everything piled up and then bam all in 2 chapters it was over.

Great story line

I love the story line of this book. There were a few twist I totally didn’t see coming. I didn’t really care for the main character Kasey, I feel she made the story slow. The last few chapters is when it got really good and I was intrigued. I wouldn’t mind reading another book from the author.

The story description sounded pretty good and the opening chapters were promising for a good read. But then I hit the meh wall. Ian was a good character but Kasey blah.
