This short novel is an accompaniment to my first book, From Whence They Came. It coincides with the time period as to when that story takes place, though from an entirely different perspective. By reading both pieces of fiction a more complete picture is revealed. Jimmy, the main character, is an entitled thirty-something whose mundane life is suddenly swept up into a secret organization that is directly linked to the aliens and their world changing course of events.
Having completed over a dozen novels—some having been ahead of their time in their speculative nature—the world of publishing has taught me a great deal. The years have tempered my once seemingly endless flow of creativity; some would even argue that it has fully run its course now that today’s acknowledged sciences have caught up to yesterday’s science fiction. With world governments pulling back the curtain of secrecy, it shall remain to be seen if my stories will one day be a reference to Earth’s hidden past and humanity’s interaction with extraterrestrials. (Just kidding)
Painting pictures with words has forever been my passion, and now I feel I have taken my colorful imaginings as far as I can. Therefore, I have decided to switch from the genre that has been good to me all these years and change it, ultimately challenging my ability to paint pictures in a more diverse and family-oriented manner.
Going forward, my new stories will become mainstream and more inclusive. I will look to include themes spanning generations and take into consideration family dynamics, bringing to light just how and why people do what they do and why everything must change.
Yes, I feel it is time for me to change my perspective. To seek out a genre where I can further connect with readers, though on a far more personable level. I will now hone my writings to that, which will hopefully leave my readers feeling all warm and fuzzy inside and without a care as to what's really going on in the world around them.
I got the opportunity to read this book and being interested in the sci-fi genre, I started reading and devoured it in one go. The author Thomas zman has written this short novella which is basically an accompaniment of his previous book This short story of 94 pages helps to explain the parts of the first but can be read as a stand alone too as it completes all the queries a reader may have. The author has captured his imagination and his creativity and put the pictures so formed from his mind into his words. He takes us on a fantastical journey of the aliens and their plans for creating utopia on earth. The book does go into extremes of getting a few humans' brains preserved, when earth gets destroyed by apocalypse so that those selected can live together and create the next generation of earth. A better place than one now. But that's what imagination is and what imagination does. This book is the birth of the author's creative visions for the future filled with illusions and imagery. It is a book of possibilities, an invention of a fertile mind, his conception of a future with aliens in our midst. This book is Thomas Zman's chimera, a power to create a world beyond imagination, isn't that what sci-fi genre all about.
Thomas Zman's, "Beyond Imagination" is literally a short, engrossing, novel that is beyond imagination. The characters, mainly a family of six are wonderfully developed, especially grandpa, confined to a wheelchair after an apparent stroke, unable to move, he communicates his thoughts through a computer that yells out what he wants to say... aka Stephen Hawking. Also, the mother who is a bit dizzy, likes to drink, and is quite comical.
James, the narrator, and lead character is hired by the Veetum Cooperation (the intellect), even though he has no qualifications except that his father works there and is highly respected.
Suddenly, a computer geek, James finds himself working alongside Kings, Queens, Presidents, NATO representatives, tycoons of business and the occasional aliens transported here to earth by the mother ship.
It turns out that the cooperation is a front for a futurist society that specializes, at a great cost to those who want in, to have their minds and souls transferred out of their bodies (corpses left behind) and to live forever on another secondary earth as the real earth is destroyed from everything from Climate change to nuclear destruction. The lucky ones, fortunate enough to afford this transformation and not wanting to die, retain everything from being human (their memories, feelings, thoughts, etc) and can take a human form if they so desire.
If one thinks I am trying to be funny, I can assure you am not. This is a well written novel, nicely edited, quite comical at times and whereas it is very imaginative it is also making a profound statement about the planet we are currently living on that we are quickly trying to destroy. I highly recommend this short novel that can easily be read in one sitting.
Beyond Imgagination steps you into the life of the Vincent family, who held the key to the human race. They alone knew the events that where to unfold when the aliens reset the whole world. Thomas Zman focuses on James, a college graduate who was wasting his life playing video games and making mediocre apps. He worked nights at a store to show he was somewhat responsible, but in reality he was going nowhere in his life. Through a series of events, he joins the elite group of males in his family to take over their classified business, to save mankind. The mystique wrapped around the disappearance of James’ great grandfather was always prevalent and was not disclosed until the end of the book. And the full implement that James’ grandmother “passing” was not understood until the time came for him to take over the family business.
I found this science fiction, Beyond Imagination, very entertaining and compelling. Thomas Zman adds enough detail without losing the enchanting charm of the story. I especially like the end of the book when James took a stand with Evvie. He knew about the aliens and yet he chose his heart, not knowing if it was the wisest choice or not. My favorite character would have been Mrs. V. Her innocence and sweet demeanor helped everything stay afloat. She took running her household seriously and she avoided negative news like a plague. Though the Thomas Zman penned her as a diligent wife and mother, she still had no idea what was going on within her realm.
Beyond Imagination follows a young computer programmer as he learns of his family's secret and his part in it. Much like the main character the reader is swept along in a sometimes disorienting fashion as James' is swept into a whirl wind career and life faster than he can blink. Beyond Imagination is the kind of short story that keeps you guessing until suddenly everything makes sense with a crystalline clarity. Though the writing could do with a good proofread for grammar and spelling, and I would have like a little more character development, Beyond Imagination is a story I could not put down.
A fascinating story that became more engrossing with each chapter. Told with effective imagery, Beyond Imagination is just what the title suggests. As it moves from mundane everyday life to the high tech, paranormal and even spiritual, it will blow your mind!
Beyond Imagination is sci-fi genre book. I love this short novella. The plot and characters bound me to read from start to end and the author drawn everything in simple but fantastic way. Thump up!
The rainbow is God promise to never clean slate the planet ever again only the promise is not to flood the world again but nothing else about other ways. Funny that I got ahold of this audiobook now as our world is dying of over population, wars, diseases and global warming plus much much more. So here instead of God alien are interfering, I wonder if it wasn’t aliens back then to ? The author Thomas Zman have done a nice job on this short story which amazingly contains so so much.
John McLoughlin have beautifully narrated every character perfectly producing a beautiful audiobook !
Imagine the apocalypse happening in your own bedroom and yard. That's pretty much what happens in Beyond Imagination. It has elements of religion embedded in the science fiction tale of the coming of aliens and the rapture as almost a science fictional event in the lives of one family, among the Chosen to help humanity--or at least a small portion of us--through the transition. Evidently, this novella sets up a series. I would very much like to read the next book and see what happens.
I read this book because I like the genre. The cover didn't scream sci-fi, but I like supporting independent authors. I gave it a try. The author has some good ideas. If not for that, I would have rated lower. The plot is just too complex for such a small read. Definitely needs an edit. It might be pretty good with the right editor.
Mistake I made is reading Beyond imagination before reading the other two previous book, but generally the book is well written with a smooth flow of the story.
