What could possibly go wrong on a blind date with a normal?

Ian Dex is known for three things: being the chief of the Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department (PPD), being an amalgamite, and being quite the horndog.

He's great with the ladies, but most of them can't keep up with his libido. So when members of his squad set him up on a blind date with a normal they claim can keep up with him, he's clearly intrigued.

And things are going great...until he spots someone at the bar who looks familiar.

He goes to check out who the guy is (being ever the cop), but can't find him.

When he returns to his date, he finds an empty chair. That's when Ian remembers the guy, and realizes she's been kidnapped.

Ian knows him as Kidnap Jack, a vampire who has a history of kidnapping women, getting them to fall in love with him, and feeding on them. But this is the third time he's hijacked one of Ian's dates. The other two times were very long ago, which was why Ian couldn't quite place the face.

Join Ian as he chases after Jack in order to get his date back safely. Then you'll learn the real reason this guy has been tormenting Ian all these years.

This story exemplifies Ian’s honor. He has always said consent was paramount to any {ahem} activities. The villain isn’t exactly terrifying, though he totally had the power to be. Think Killgrave from Jessica Jones. The fact that David Tennant had me hating him so thoroughly shows he is great at what he does. Thankfully, the world of the PPD is more light-hearted. Yes, there are truly evil characters who we cheer when they receive their comeuppance, but we know that there will be snark and absurdity. In times like these it is nice to just enjoy a bit of idiocy, knowing that the guys will always win in the end.

This is the second of the novellas dealing with Ian Dex and the PPD. Read in little under an hour, it still gives you the feel of reading one of the novels in this series. This time it is sort of a story that deals with pride that goes before a fall. Only it, not Ian's pride in question but something else about him that is. Rachel is at her best in this one, as she switches back and forth from high school cutie to herself as she deals with Kidnap Jack. Once again, Ian at his best and I can't wait for the next one to come out.

A fair wager or is it?

He's settled into the role of Chief but is trying to find a possible girlfriend. However he's not having much luck. His last three dates had been kidnapped by a vampire with a voice that makes women fall in love with him and it looks as if his latest date has joined the ranks. A chase around Vegas has him hopping and using his powers leaves him depleted. The only resource he has is his last partner. However that too leads to disaster, she is captured and he has to agree to a bet to save the two women's lives from the twenty makes that enter the room. Three pickups, a winning combination and a betrayal. Now he has to fight to save the women and himself. Can he win as he's seriously outnumbered?

Omg, the author/narrator lost it and started laughing at a hilarious point in the story before recovering his composure and continued. I’m glad they left that in.
Ian Dex has a run in with ‘Kidnap Jack’ this leads to some funny interactions between the two. I’m loving Ian Dex and his sarcasm.

A nice short story that balances humor and plot.

It was fun to see Ian getting out played and have a smaller scale for the conflict. Just because it isn’t saving the world doesn’t mean it’s not important.

Another Ian Dex Short

In this Ian Dex is against his womanising nemesis and it seems that things just aren't what you think. A humourous visual scenario will constantly jump into your mind constantly with this one but makes for a good chuckle

Hilarious jaunt into Ian's dating life, where he faces off against a recurring rival he didn't know he had. Tomfoolery ensues as he tries to put`a kidnapper behind bars. Full of snark, head-shaking, and even a knighting!

What is the worst date you have ever been on?

Fairly sure it didn't include your date being kidnapped.
Ian gets to deal with his date being kidnapped and what is worse, this isn't the first time he has had to deal with it.

UF that doesn't fit the cookie cutter mold.

Poor Ian can't even go out to play without his job interfering. Ian goes on a blind date with a normal and ends up in the cock fight of the year. Lots of chuckles ensue. Maybe Ian should just stick with the succubi lol.

Another Fun Read

What is Ian to do? His date is kidnapped from under his nose. Wele, I guess it's time to ratchet up the power and go after the jerk. I like the action and humor. I look forward to another book.

Ha! Comical. The short stories are ok, but so short, I prefer the longer books, even though they aren't that long either.

Kindle Unlimited, do ARCs now for the writer but since these are short stories to tell about the main crew of the LV PPD doesn't have those, and would buy each one as came out but when done will be set so will be easier to read in a set {listened with @readaloud and talkback on android tablet}, short stories bit too short but that's a personal problem not a book issue, see list at end for short and long stories out for these, not listing all his other series anymore as it was becoming longer than the review so look up John P. Logsdon on goodreads {need the P. for them} or here.
