This is a very special new adult preview novella for HOLT: HER RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE.
Holt Calson was born with an 11-figure spoon in his mouth to one of the wealthiest families in the world. The night they met, Sylvie Pinnock only had 11 dollars in her purse, and it was all the money she had in the world.
They were never supposed to meet, much less be together. But Holt didn't care. He just wanted Sylvie. And what Calsons want, Calsons get.
For one blazing summer, they had it all...

Holt, Her Ruthless Billionaire: 50 Loving States-Connecticut (Ruthless Tycoons Book 1) Release Date: Sunday, December 17, 2017
I love the idea of a special preview of an upcoming release where I don't have to read it on the author's website or via pdf. I hope this is a trend that continues.
I just didn't believe these people were in love ever not in the beginning stage with the young love and definitely not when they reconnect later. The chemistry should leap off the page giving me the feels, the vapors something, but for me I had lukewarm feels, I can't think of how authors mix two fictional people together and give them life and love and a story. But I didn't buy this love story it was readable and I didn't feel like I wasted my time I just felt like this book missed the mark on why two people should be together. Theodora Taylor is a immediate click for me but she can be hit or miss for me when it comes to the spark that lives in a great love story. This was an ok escape I just won't go and revisit it.
Why does the first Black Jamaican female character have to be so damn weird, religious, poor and uncool?? Like damn…. what a missed opportunity to have a badass snatched Caribbean character but instead we get this ridiculous trope…She’s a caricature and it’s so disappointing. Her mom is an emotionally abusive asshole. It’s unbelievable that Holt, a super rich white boy would give her the time of day. Also, her accent should be almost gone and slight. She’s been in Conn. way to long and immersed in the educational system to have that thick of an accent. I listened to the audiobook and it was painful. Jamaican accents are hard to do and she sounded like and old island elder…Very cringy.
Confession: I thought this was the actual book, and not a preview when I clicked Buy Now. I'm not a fan of excerpts because they make me super-anxious for the book, so I was a little disappointed when I realized what this was. But it's Theodora Taylor, so you know I went ahead and read it. And now I'll be counting down the days until the 16th (?), cause I'm dying to know what happens next! This is good, y'all, and I already know the book will be even better! Can't. Wait!
Interesting first chapters...should be free by the way..not necessary to pay for a couple of chapters ...could have waited for the actual book. Possible potential...it all depends on what the author does with the rest of the story. Hopefully, will not spend an entire book dealing with serious insecurities on the part of both characters.
I'm a big fan of Theodora Taylor's books with her alpha heroes and strong heroine characters and this preview novella lays the groundwork with Holt's all encompassing attraction to Sylvie and hinting at the beginning of her self discovery as she falls for Holt. I love the 50 states series and can't wait for the release of the main book.
I don’t know where to start! I do know i didn’t want it to end! Gosh! I can’t wait for the complete story. Ms. Taylor has such a way of spinning a tale, leaving you thirsty and desperate for the next line!
Oh my! This preview hooked me. I tried not to read it before the book came out because I know Theodora Taylor is such a great storyteller. I was hooked, just like Holt. I can not wait until the full release!
This is obviously a promise to what actually happens. I started a later book in this series but stopped when I kept hearing about these two. So, I've had some what of a spoiler already. I know that there is more to come and not so HEA!
Revenge is best-served boss, that's what Holt thought. Both he and Sylvie went through some ish that very few people could endure. Sylvie did what she had to do to help her parents, even though they shut her out of their lives, she still wanted to help them and be the good daughter they raised her to be. She was a naive innocent young woman when she and Holt met. Holt was dealing with his own demons from witnessing the suicide of his mother and using drugs to self medicate his anxiety. They both fell helplessly in love with each other until that fateful day that changed everything.
Holt desperately tried to move on with his life unknowingly being under the influence of his father, Jack Colson. He tried to model his life after him and his grandfather Hank, but realized after going through more drama that he was his own person and was a better person because Sylvie was back in he and his son Wes' life. Both he and Sylvie's realization that karma was at play to put them back together after 10 years, made them come back together for their boys and their love. They were destined to be with each other and to resist was futile.
I love the way that Theodora wrote this story. It was full of drama and mystery. She kept teasing the reader with just enough tidbits to make the reader wonder what was going on and what the hell else is going to happen to this couple. That mugger incident had my heart in my throat. The storyline was well plotted, written and executed. It kept my attention from beginning to end.
