Thanks to the author, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.
In the troubled and challenging times we find ourselves in at the moment, we could probably all use a little more mindfulness and a focus on personal well-being. It's the perfect opportunity to indulge in this practical and uncomplicated little book to help you consciously slow down and take steps to improve your life.
The activities in the guide are simple to follow and allow you to approach a more mindful way of living, one thought or small change at a time.
I particularly liked the easy to follow action plans (i.e.: the Living Mindfully Maps) to help ease you into the practice without feeling overwhelmed with all the changed you feel you need to make.
Be Mindful and Simplify Your Life is the perfect guide to accompany any yoga, mindfulness or journaling practice and would be ideal to dip back into for further ideas and support along your path!
This book was received as an ARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book seriously will enlighten you and make you have a blissful mind from the first chapter in the book. Every page I read I felt Kate really got the issues I was battling and more importantly offered tips and tricks to slowly detox and eliminate them from not only your body but your mind and think clearly. This book will be the perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, holidays etc. Everyone deserves to have a simple blissful life and this is the first step of many that can help us get there.
We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Disclaimer: I received this book in exchange of my honest opinion.
2.5 stars
This is a very quick to read book. Chapters are really small, things are concise. Simple and fast. Maybe too simple and too fast to read, and things might not stick with you in the long run.
I think it's a great start to mindfulness and simply being more aware and live in the present, but it doesn't really go in depth so you might be left wanting something more.
2.5 stars. Eh it’s okay, was a nice light read very easy and quick to get through, glad to finally knock this one off my TBR after having it for almost 10 years whoops. Turns out self help books aren’t as scary as I thought they were all these years. Pretty basic stuff, I think most YouTube video essays cover all this stuff these days. I don’t know why from the title I expected this to be more practical tips for simplifying and decluttering your life but mindfulness is great too
Pleasantly surprised at this collection of 50 tips on living more mindfully (being more aware of the present and ‘taking in’ life actively). I have long needed the advice to pause and take stock of moments, priorities and what is truly important. Practical, no nonsense and full of achievable steps and idea suggestions.
This book is practical guidance on how to live mindfully and make our life simple. The processes given here are practical and it was very inspiring to read this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review
This book was an enjoyable, simple read that anyone could benefit from. The chapters are short, generally ranging from 2-5 pages with practical advice and tips for how to implement the chapter’s idea or practice in daily life. James suggests a lot of ways to become more mindful (not just meditation!) so anyone new to the idea of mindfulness or struggling with their current practice could find some benefit. A wide range of topics are covered, everything from sleeping better to responding to conflict and contributing to your community. I felt the title was a little bit of a misnomer, the tips are mostly on mindfulness with simple living as a byproduct although “live simply” and “sustainable living” are included as chapters. Despite that fact I thought it was a very good book focused on mindfulness in daily life.
This is a nice little book that gives you short, concise chapters on how to be mindful. It makes for a good reference book when your feeling as though life is overwhelming you and you need something that's to the point and puts a smile on your face.
