Max Finkelstein created Jim Hamond, the Human Torch, for Timely Comics (later evolved into the Marvel Comics) in 1939, using the pen-name Carl Burgos. He also created the Thunderer for Daring Mystery Comics. Both series were published by Timely Comics, the forerunner of Marvel. He was drafted in 1942 and did mostly commercial art in subsequent years, occasionally drawing science fiction stories for Marvel, by that time known as Atlas. He also drew the first story featuring the Beetle (Abner Jenkins) in Strange Tales #123, starring Johnny Storm, the second Human Torch. Two years later, in Fantastic Four Annual #4, Marvel published a battle between the two Human Torches, resulting in the death of Jim Hamond. Although his daughter tried to preserve as much as possible, Burgos set fire to much of the Human Torch materials he had retained from the 1940s, considering the story an excuse to reassert trademark on a character they were not using simply to spite him.
The Human Torch After being framed for melting new, expiramental tanks, the Torch sets out to clear his name against this Masked Nazi villain. He convinces the generals that the sabatour is actually the generals own secretary and is let off the hook. I don't know why but Torch is being such a dick to Toro in this story, like calling him Flaming Panties and Flaming Diapers, like why even? Is it because Toro had be saved after the last Human Torch Comics story? Cuz we didn't do that.
The Sub-Mariner I completely forgot that Namor made his own custom little "jeep" buggy that he flies around in. I guess Namor, after trying to take over the world, wanted to go back to the simple things in life lol.
The Patriot I'm asking this question a lot lately, but The Patriots has two friends that have been in every story so far. The friends are a couple, so how have two separate people not noticed that whenever The Patriots appears, their friend disappears.
The Vision Alright, so once again, we get sharpened teeth tribe members that are pretty yikes, but they worship an evil Shark God who demands tribute from these people. The Tribe does this for awhile until The Vision appears out of their fire's smoke to fight the Shark God. A pretty fun, underwater battle then takes place between Vision and this Shark God. In the end Vision is victorious and labelled a Smoke-God by the tribe.
Adventures of Ka-Zar the Great When Ka-Zar says he's gonna keep a jungle clear of enemies, that's what he's going to do. He drives through an airplane hanger with a tank and releases a layer of deadly smoke on am entire Nazi camp, suffocating them, only permitting the jungle creatures to escape.
I didn’t like this issue, the Nazis fights are getting repetitive, even on characters I like. Namor is okay, funny seeing his whizzing about in his plane-buggy (even though he can literally fly and fly faster than the car). Vision was the most interesting, just because no Nazis, just punching out a shark-god. Angel can fly (again) now, for some reason. His comic was dreadful, with artwork so bad they need exposition boxes for the most trivial of things. I don’t know what happened to Gustavson, I wish he 2as still illustrating this.
Awful writing. Every story has a flaw. Something that suddenly appears that is convenient to save the day. They did a bad job on this one. It made me announce “what the hell” several times. Either it’s too convenient or it’s just unrealistic.
