2.5 stars - This was an ok read. Not truly impressed with this one. I don't know what it was but this book was just missing something for me. I will say maybe because of the way Sylvia and Brad interact didn't quite work for me...

3 stars!

This one had the divergent feel only Alexa Riley version, smutty and sexy. I enjoyed this one more than her last book that’s for sure. I liked that the h was a kick ass girl who knew now how to take care of herself and handle the H. Our H of course as always possessive alpha male but didn’t mind being vulnerable for the h.

Past paced and hot just wished the ending was so abrupt, but the epilogue makes up for it and as always, very sweet. ❤️

Dystopian? Alexa Riley? Why not?

How did I miss this one?
This is an interesting enemies to lovers story with the right amount of smut and a touch of a scary future. A future where people are separated into elites and rebels. Regime Loyalists and Insurgents. Well fed and hungry. Well educated and unsophisticated. People that carry guns and people that can only throw punches.
Women are mainly used to create babies and elite women are matched to elite men.

Brad Chalmers is a command leader for the elites and Sylvia is a naughty rebel who keeps stealing his weapons, humiliates him and finally steals his heart.

3 stars for the story and one extra star for the following quote:
Like a caged beast, I cross the room and punch a hole in the wall. How could I let that woman get away without getting her off first? I feel shame at not giving her the same pleasure she gave me.

2.5 to 3*

I love a good dystopian read but was surprised to find Alexa Riley writing one simply because her books are generally short hot romances and dystopians take time for the world building but then I spotted the warning.

This was an okay read but in order for it to really work it needed more, I know the warning states they don’t get caught up in details but that doesn’t stop me wanting more.

Also I don’t like loose ends and so I have to ask what happened to the nurse? I’m assuming the next book Her Rebel picks this up but there’s no blurb available yet so I’m not sure.

Brad and Sylvia are on opposite sides, he’s a command leader for the elite and she’s a rebel but when they meet the chemistry is off the charts and sides no longer matter.

The world is stacked against us, but one look and I knew she was my destiny.

So I will NEVER get past the cheese level of the “breeding” need, but my god this is by far my favorite Alexa Riley ever in the world. Like what the heck the heroine was actually so tough and I LOVEDDDDDDDD it. Ate it up like Brad ate in this book.. hehe. Like if you want your heroines to say, “yes I want an bossy alpha, but I don’t want to be a wilting flower,” that is this book, and I loved it.

Like I said, the only reason this isn’t a fiver for me is because the “can’t stop won’t stop” breeding mentality, but I know that’s their thing and everyone who reads them loves it so this may very well be a five-star read for most AR fans! I just... can’t.

If you’re looking for an erotic dystopian quickie, with a strong heroine and a hero who actually falls to his knees but is still tough too... THIS IS IT!

I used to love an AR book, a nice little guilty pleasure read.

But now, seems the books are being churned out for the sake of it, usually with some "warning" about how it is insta this that or the other. Which is actually starting to feel like some disclaimer to not write a proper story.

Like this one "Warning: We don’t get caught up in the details of a dystopian future...so come for the insta-love and stay for the steamy parts! We won’t let you down!" Aka, we wanted to write a book in a dystopian setting, but without actually writing a dystopian world.

Think I am done.

Do not get me wrong, I love some of the earlier stuff and re read it. But for me I think the shine has worn off.

HELL yaaah!

"His Rebel" is the story of Brad and Slyvia.

Firstly, WOW.
Never would I have expected an AR novel set in a dystopic world where Government and the Insurgents fight one another.
Brad is a government official and Sylvia is a rebel. When an assignment leads her to slap him on live TV, one look and Brad is hooked. A second meeting leads to hot breeding.
Insta love, hot sex and baby batter filled short read.
Ends with a bittersweet HEA filled with hope.

Not bad

This one was a bit different for Alexa Riley which is set in a dystopian future. The story gave a quick background of the two different factions - the Elite and the Insurgents. I noticed that this is part of a world dreamt up by Abby Knox, but when I check her out on Amazon I only see two books which aren't dystopian books at all...so I'm a bit confused.

3.5* ready, set, go STARS!

Wayyy better than their new releases. Pftt. Sorry not sorry. Also, I didn't realize with the dystopia theme but I kinda enjoyed it. Sylvia as the heroine appears to be bad-ass at first. But after Sylvia saw Brad for real, she couldn't control her lust. At least, she's honest ;)

Their sexy times was HOT but ruined with the OTT breeding talk. Yikes! Longer pages with an actual plot. To bring down the Elites. Of course, it always ends with happy ending. An enjoyable read nonetheless. Couldn't wait for other rebels!

This was so good!! I loved it! I loved the back story so much! It was written so well!! This couple was so amazing. One look and a punch to the face later and Brad was hooked on this little rebel. He had to find the girl who has captivated him. No one has made him feel the way that she does. He has to find her and make her his before the elites get to her. Sylvia is part of the rebel group looking to overthrow the elites. Her big assignment is to punch Brad Chambers a command leader in the face on live TV. She can feel a connection to him as she goes to hit him. No man has ever made her feel the thing he is making her feel. He will be looking for her but who knows what will happen when he find her!
This was so so good!! You guys should read this one!!

It was something a bit different from Alexa. Different background story, but still sweet and hot, with obsessive hero, who's ready to leave behind all he ever knew in his life for his girl.

Well, color me surprised. I had never expected to read a dystopian book from Alexa Riley's pen. I should, though. I really should. Because these ladies can write anything they set their minds on.
Brad was protective, slightly obsessive alpha-male and I loved every bit of him. Sylvia was tough, brave and fierce woman and—I guess I'm gonna have to repeat myself—I loved every bit of her.
If you're looking for very detailed dystopian book, this book probably won't be for you but if you want to read some fun, steamy book with dystopian features in it, this is the right one and you have to pick it up right now. NOW! GO!

Alexa Riley have tried something new with this book, setting it in a Dystopian world where The Insurgence spend their time fighting the Regime... But don't worry about all that, because as AR said in the intro, they don't get caught up in all the details! It's just the backdrop for another of their breeding based stories, and I was all for it.

The story was short, smutty, dirty, spermy... ya know, the uge (Sidenote: I just went on google to find out how to spell uge (short for 'the usual') and couldn't find a definitive spelling. Buzzfeed even had an article on it that confused me more. Suggestions included ushe, uch, yooch and uj. I'd never considered the spelling before. How do any of you AR readers who may be reading this spell it? Did you understand what I meant? Should I just fucking write 'the usual' instead of over thinking this shit?!)

Yeah anyway... I liked this one.
