The army was my life. I lived, and breathed the overseas air as if I was born to do it. I was deployed more than I was home, and after losing my parents, it was easier that way. I took over guardianship of my sister Zoe, and as soon as she turned eighteen, I enlisted. On the rare occasion that I did come home, it was to see Evie. Evangeline Perez was my best friend, and before my first deployment, I'd taken her virginity. Since then, whenever I was home we hooked up. We had a no strings attatched, friends with benefits relationship for years. Until one day, her phone number was suddenly disconnected, her apartment was empty, and I was left with a slew of questions, and no answers. When I couldn't find her, I assumed she had met someone and moved on, but then, two years later, I saw her again... and she wasn't alone.
Kayla Carson is a stay at home mom to two wonderful kids from Michigan. She's an expert at multitasking and tip toe ninja walking through treacherous Lego terrains. When she's not chasing little feet around the house, she's writing romance which usually takes place between the wee hours of nine pm and three am. She's a self-proclaimed book nerd whose dream would be to have an in home library equipped with a rolling ladder.
Loads of spelling and grammar errors which just got silly after awhile to read but the story was ok. It was hard and frustrating to read the past and current tense of the characters when each change could of had a heading that announced the time shift.
I liked the characters and learning a bit of Hispanic culture as well. I don't think the army culture is quite like it's represented in the book. I'm not sure Generals have that much interaction with Jake's rank. There is a whole bunch of officers in between.
I don't know if Vanessa and Cole situation is from another book but that incident seemed vague or come out of nowhere.
For all it's faults I didn't hate the book. I think there needs to be a better editing before it goes further.
I'm also from Michigan. The former Air Force Base is located here in our town.
