I did not read LOST but read the two books separately that are in the LOST duology. Here are my reviews for each of those books. I hope you will give LOST a chance......you won't be sorry I promise!!
Oh my gosh! When I finished reading LOST IN LOS ANGELES I realized I was crying and holding my breath! I don't mean just crying, I was sobbing! Erin has just lost her best friend, Star, tragically. A few weeks later, while at the prom, she is violated by her high school crush! Looking to escape and get away from her life she takes a trip to Los Angeles. While she is having coffee one morning, she meets the mysterious and gorgeous Ben. Erin has been one hot mess due to all that has happened to her but for some reason, Ben makes her want to try harder and be better. I'm not going to say anything else, as I'm afraid I will give too much away. All I'm going to say is you have to read this book! Trust me, read it!!
I have to say, my emotions were all over the place reading LOST IN LOS ANGELES. I had tears, I was angry, I was happy and snorting out loud. Jenny Lynne made me feel like I was right there with Erin, feeling everything She was. Her pain was so real and it broke my heart. LOST IN LOS ANGELES is only 192 pages, but what a wild ride it is. Oh and all I'm going to say is the ending will blow you away. What an awesome twist! Well done Jenny Lynne. I can not wait to read more by this mind blowing author.
Wow wow wow!! I thought author Jenny Lynne blew my mind with Lost in Los Angeles but LOST IN TOKYO was even better. Erin captured my heart in the first book but in this one she won me over from the very first pages. She goes to Tokyo with her bud Adam to live out her mother's bucket list. As she follows the list she feels closer than ever to her mom who left her when she was a small child. Adam is such an awesome friend to Erin and I couldn't love him more!!
My heart was beating like crazy reading LOST IN TOKYO. I was swooning like mad for Adam, I was happy and giggling with Erin. Jenny Lynne had me right in Tokyo with the two of them. I will tell you that the ending is without a doubt perfect. What an awesome discovery Erin makes! Well done Jenny Lynne. I can not wait to read more by this awesome and heart tugging author.
I have to admit - I didn't read Lost, I read the two books separately. I found out this bundled edition was an option when I came to troll the author's catalogue because I wanted more and hoped there was still another book in this amazing series! The two books are just wonderful, I've now reread them both because I didn't want to leave Erin's world...
Another amazing read by Jenny! I was completely enthralled with the vivid descriptions in of Japan in this story. I loved the interaction between Erin and Adam and how their relationship progresses. With everything that Erin has gone through in her life, she deserves her moment in the sun, and her time in Japan is just that. After reading this book, I would love to plan a visit!
Even though this book is fiction the author's use of the characters could be based on real people's lives. The same goes for the location of the story: Los Angeles is a real place after all. You really can get lost in Los Angeles... it's a big city!
Here is a blurb of what the book is about. Sometimes you find hope where you least expect it. Just weeks after 18 year old Erin tragically loses her best friend, she is brutally betrayed by her high school crush. Plagued by crippling panic attacks and disconcerting visions of her dead friend, Erin travels to Los Angeles, searching for a sign that life is still worth living. Shortly after she arrives, she meets Ben, a mysterious man who captures both her curiosity and her heart. As they explore Los Angeles together, Ben reveals shocking secrets of his tragic childhood and helps Erin believe that she can heal from the wounds of her traumatic past. But Ben is hiding one horrible secret. A secret that could destroy her. Lost in Los Angeles is a young adult/ new adult contemporary romance novel. Lost in Los Angeles gives a insider's Los Angeles travel guide wrapped in a story of healing and hope, with an ending you won't see coming.
We meet Erin... she lives in New York. She travels to Los Angeles to see if life is worth living. You might ask why she does this? Here are some clues.
Erin was seeing a guy named Barry and they were at his place. He wanted to try and sleep with her. Erin wouldn't let him. Barry got mad. Ever since then Erin has a hard time trusting people or letting people into her life.
There is something wrong with Erin. She has anxiety issues because when she goes and visits places she sees and hears strange things. When it is night time she sees eyes of monsters looking at her and she screams "Get Away From Me" really loud. She also cries a lot. She is having a hard time coping with the death of her friend.
When Erin goes into this coffee shop she sees a guy sitting at a table typing on his laptop. He offers her to sit at his table because the coffee shop is crowed, she gladly accepts. The guy's name is Ben.
It is so sweet that Ben wants to help Erin. She has been though a lot. It is nice to know that she feels safe with Ben... but she doesn't trust him yet. How can you feel safe with someone if you don't trust them?
Ben has been through a lot too. He was abused by his father when he was a kid. Ben was in the hospital because he stabs himself with a sword over and over again he found in his dad's office. When the doctors operate on him they find out he has cancer. Some how the cancer went away later on in his life.
I found this book to be well written. I am glad that Erin has found hope in Ben. The problems Erin face can happen in other people's lives. The book covers the issue of anxiety very well.
Here is a blurb of what the book is about. Sometimes you have to abandon your comfort zone to find the place where you belong.
Nineteen - year - old Erin is hoping that her visit to Japan with her best friend, Adam, will be life - changing. Fifteen years ago, Erin's mother mysteriously vanished. The only clue she left behind is a handwritten itinerary for a dream trip to Japan, a rip that Erin doesn't know if her mother ever had the chance to take. Erin has decided to carry out this itinerary, believing that it might help her find her mother.
But her trip won't be going according to plan.
Just hours after Erin and Adam arrive in Tokyo, in a jet - lagged fog, they end up in bed together. While struggling with the tension that now dominates their once innocent friendship, Erin and Adam visit the places on her mother's list. As they explore the wonders of Japan, Erin finds herself haunted by strange "memories" that seem to belong to her mother. Could these memories be real? If so, perhaps her mother can be found.
Lost in Tokyo is a young adult / new adult contemporary romance novel that will appeal to readers. The book gives us a travel guide of wonderful things to see and do while on vacation in Japan ( featuring attractions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, and Kamakura) wrapped in a story of healing, and hope, with an unexpected, but satisfying, ending.
I thought this was a really great book. It is full of twists and turns and surprises. I also found the story to be a bit complicated at times. Did Erin get her miracle...to find out the answer you have to pick up this book and read it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance and young adult / new adult books.
I am so thankful for Jenny Lynne giving me a copy of this book. I don't know where to start. Once I started reading, I literally could not put this book down. I'm an emotional mess right now. The storyline played on every emotion that's possible. Wow. I had goosebumps, tears, anger, sadness, happiness and a couple laughs. Erin's story was intense. She was literally ready to pack it in, and her mental state was understandable. Her pain and anguish was brought to life and I felt every tear she shed. I loved her journey that brought her to Ben. And then she went on to another emotional adventure that was so beautifully written. I was drawn further into Erin's journey as she sought out her mother. But what she left with was so much more. Quite a few scenes brought out the goosebumps. Adam was a great friend whom also had quite an emotional time. This book, for me, was so much more than just a story. It was full of pain, happiness, anger, love, hope and friendship. From Erin- 'When I came to Japan, I was lost. I'm not lost anymore.' A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read. This book is a must read. Highly recommended.
This definitely was a young adult book that I would say should only be read by young adults. I don't belong in that category and so didn't really enjoy the books. The characters were pretty shallow and the writing is not as good as what I am used to. It was good enough that I finished it but just barely. I could see some young teens enjoying it. I did like the Tokyo one slightly better but neither either fully engaged me. I also don't know that you could actually do what they do in a day and if you did, I can't imagine you would be able to enjoy/appreciate any of it. It felt like she had to cram every single thing from both cities into the scenes. Couldn't really recommend it.
