When a package turns up missing and her great grandmother is kidnapped, Daisy Warren discovers there's more to the family business than she'd ever known.

A quick little mystery with some interesting elements that I struggled with at times. It took me a bit to settle into the first person present point of view. The writing style was a bit... simplistic in spots, with some of the interactions feeling a bit off, for me at least.

That being said, the last few chapters especially had some solid parts that showed some potential. I may check out the next book someday, if I'm in the mood for a light read with some mystery.

Loved it!

Daisy Warren begins the day like any usual day.....turquoise hair, check.....striped socks, check.....and then she gets a phone call that will change everything. Poppy, her beloved great grandfather frantically tells her that Lily is missing!! Prone to exaggeration she initially thinks maybe her sweet great grandmother popped out and didn't tell him. That quickly changes when his panic rises.....someone has her family and she doesn't know why. Raised by her grandparents when her parents were murdered in her childhood....Daisy and her two siblings loved her grandparents and great grandparents....she couldn't even imagine her life without any of them. One thing plagues her mind....who the heck would want her octogenarian great grandmother? To what end? When she reaches Poppy's house he tells her the Antique Store/Warehouse has a secret side business. Apparently on occasion they get "special" shipments. These are supposedly special or cursed objects that MUST be immediately delivered to the correct address. Poppy thinks his beloved wife brought one of these objects home, and didn't take it back to the warehouse like he told her. Daisy is still unsure what to believe....until the threatening phone calls start regarding bringing the scroll or Lily dies. What the heck is going on??? Daisy has always been HORRIBLE at fibbing, but now both grandfather's order her to remain silent about the truth regarding the warehouse and the reason behind Lily's vanishing. What is she supposed to do? In one day everything Daisy thought her world was changed....she learns new things about her family, the world, her job, herself, and a few other things along the way. She also makes a few new friends along the way. Can she save Lily? What is actually going.on? See what happens to this quirky, loyal, amazing young woman on her quest to get her great grandmother back!

First things first, I have to say that if the blurb hadn't piqued my interest, the great cover would have! This first book in the Warren Antiques series start out with a bang and gets you right in the heart. We're introduced to Daisy, who is a bit snarky and possesses a wit that is perfect for keeping things from getting too serious as she finds herself thrown into the family business in a major way. What starts with a phone call soon turns into a fast-paced tale filled with suspense, intrigue, and a bit of the supernatural. I found some great characters that I can't wait to see more of - Tristan! I'm dying to know his story - and an intriguing storyline that has me anxious to see what's next. All in all, a solid start to a new series.

This is the first in a new series by Mary Abshire. Snark and Suspense are the first two words that come to mind. Daisy is quick witted and uses her wit to cover a heart of gold. If you are looking for a read to cover all the bases and still be clean, this is it. This book can be read from Young Adult on up. There is mystery, intrigue, family, paranormal. I use the word paranormal because its a catchall. There are 2 hunky men. Cade and Tristen, and mystery surrounds them both. I definitely need to read book 2! Thank you for the arc Mary!

This is an unusual mystery tale with well written characters and a suspenseful plot line. There's intrigue, interesting potential love interests for the main character, and the story ultimately tugs at the heartstrings. The main character and her world felt so real and relatable. Looking forward to more!

Fabulous

Really enjoyed reading this book, loved the characters although I wished Daisy was a bit more mature but just as quirky. Cade and Tristan are gorgeous although very different from each other they are both Alpha types and very sexy.

Unexpected but good

It's a good book, a few twists and turns but all and all a good one. Definitely a great series starter.

Quick read

A nice little story but it left a lot of unanswered questions. I would have been more drawn in if it wasn't so vague.

Definitely needs editing. One example, war metals instead of medals.
A little too light for me.
