Toni Donovan teaches science in a small high school in the Missouri heartland. As a devoted wife and mother of two young sons, she leads a quiet and orderly existence—until she discovers the district’s missing superintendent, a woman she hated, in the body farm kept by her forensics class. The victim was a tyrant and manipulator, and Toni senses there are secrets in the halls of academia that no one suspects.
When, with the instincts of a scientist, Toni delves deeper into the murder investigation, she finds herself facing more problems than just preparing for classes and dealing with unruly students. When her younger son, whose dream prompted her to the location of the body, is threatened, Toni learns that danger and terror do happen in a small town, and that she must not allow hate to overtake her life. Determined to stop a killer, her quest leads her into a series of discoveries that could cost Toni her own life.
I wouldn't have purchased this book had it been labelled "Christian", because I have found most such books to be overly pious, and not particularly well written. Also, I like to chose my spiritual reading, not have it pushed at me in the guise of another genre. But this book was free, and there was no mention of any religious overtones in the description. That being said, as a former teacher, I found the story line both interesting and realistic. The mystery was well-plotted and kept me guessing almost the end; and when I guessed the murderer I was invested in our protagonist identifying the villain, and staying alive as well! The references to prayer and asking God for help were both appropriate to the story, and simp!e enough to be absolutely inoffensive to anyone. I enjoyed this book and would definitely be interested in reading the next in the series.
Superintendent of the school district Marsha was missing, and for Toni as well as others didn’t like her. She made them feel like second class citizens. Toni is plagued with thoughts and with Garrett’s dreams of Harry Rabbit. The body was found where and next to Harry Rabbit as her son had dreamed. A good plot, with family, and with Toni paying attention to the insight her son has. The plot was intriguing, and how Toni got involved in it, and well worth reading
A real who dunit till the end with no compromise to Christian values. Excellent pace of storyline. I will recommend without concerns of sensitive story matter. My tween granddaughters will enjoy reading this book now that I've finished.
I'm excited to find such a fine quality book that moved along quickly and held my interest to the surprising end.
This is the first I have read from this author. I found this book to be enjoyable and would definitely read other books by this author. I must say I didn't know who did it till the end of the book there was to many suspects.

I have really enjoyed this author's romance novels, and she has proved with this book she can write a really good mystery also. This book is a combination of unique characters and a storyline with twists and turns that kept me engrossed from the first pages and kept me reading because I wanted to see what could possibly happen next, and it had an ending that certainly was a surprise. I was given a copy of this book, but a positive review with not required. The opinions expressed are my own, and this is one that I thoroughly enjoyed and definitely recommend.
Toni is a amazing woman. When Toni's son starts having dreams she is worried. Toni and John work well together, watching these two try to figure out what is happening will have you on the edge of your seat. The way they help Buck solve this case is truly remarkable. You will feel God working throughout this book. I had the honor to review this book for a honest review. These are my thoughts and reaction to this book. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
Wonderful Mystery writing that I found difficult to put down. With all the twists and turns I had no clue who dun it until the very end. I fell in love with Toni Donovon and her family. They seem so real. The Inspirational thread was also awesome, I can't wait to read more from this author.
