Two choices. Both end in death. Which one do you choose? Jeval has the Dark Gift, a gift so rare that he is the only one born in the universe who has survived it. He’s determined to never mate with a creature capable of having children for fear of passing that darkness on. Margie's a woman who grew up under the unfair class system that allowed her father to sell her off to pay his debts. She's determined to never be under the rule of a male again. So why does she seem to keep ending up way too close to the Revant, Jeval? The rebellion has grown to a point where it is war or nothing and Jeval knows that now is the time to use that gift, and when he’s given a mission that is sheer suicide, even with his abilities he knows he has to take it, even though it means leaving behind Margie, the human that holds his heart—and body. Will Margie let him go it alone, even if it means her life? My thanks to the author for the privilege of an ARC. This review is voluntary, and the opinion expressed is my own: there is wa-a-ay more to this book, and this series, than just alien SF romance, and I swear I haven't read anything so good in ages. Jeval is the last of the four royal princes of the now-destroyed planet Revant. Together with his brothers, the remnants of Revant's people, and their rescued human refugees, he now lives in primitive peace on their private planet, Revant Two. He's feared by all as the most implacable of the Revant warriors, and gifted with a power so strangely lethal he has sworn a blood oath never to use it. He refuses to take a mate, for fear that his unborn children will inherit his lethal gift, and die in the womb. He's a harsh and prickly man - difficult to know and hard to love. Human refugee and now resident of Revant Two, Margie is strong, outspoken, an advocate for justice and against the corrupt totalitarian Federation that destroyed Revant, and abandoned the helpless people of Old Earth. Against her better sense, she's attracted to Jeval. Jeval on his part is also attracted to Margie, yet the two manage to rub each other the wrong way at every turn. It's a silently passionate love-hate relationship, which plays itself to a stunning revelation against a fantastic background of spying, sedition, alliance-building, and desperate courage. Revant Two is threatened as never before when a turncoat brings news that the crumbling yet still formidable Federation has found yet one more wormhole to exploit - one that will open an alternate universe and unleash permanent destruction on all life forms and all planets. I don't do spoilers, so I must content myself with saying that no-one in the book achieves HEA, but all are left hanging by a thread of hope - thanks to Margie and Jeval. Celeste Raye writes complex and intriguing characters whose personalities and hidden depths come slowly to light as the larger plot plays out. They're people you hope for and ache with, and the resolved romance is bittersweet at best when the series plot line stops at such a pivotal point. What really blows me away in this book, even more than the earlier books in the series, is Raye's stunningly evocative depiction of civil war and the ripples of destruction it creates - scenes that put me in mind of the burning of Atlanta in Gone with the Wind, or the charge of the Bolshevik revolutionaries in Dr. Zhivago. It's epic, exciting, horrifying, mesmerizing, passionate, and incredible reading.

This is the fourth book in the Revant Warriors series and I want to tell you that each book has been a great read. The series is about a group of brothers whose home world was destroyed by the Federation. They've finally been able to buy their own planet to settle down with the Revant survivors and others who have elected to resettle on Revant 2. Each brother has a different gift/power Jeval's however is a dark and dangerous one that can destroy. Jeval is painfully aware and totally distracted by his lust/love for a human woman named Margie. Jeval can terrify anyone at 20 paces and he keep's people at a distance. Margie is a petite dynamo who speaks the truth no matter how distasteful it is. She is at odds with the powerful feelings she has for Jeval. These two fight their feelings with everything they have. Rumors that the Federation is up to something big means that Jeval and Margie are going to have to try to find out what it is and how it's going to affect them, their growing population, and it's fledgling society. This mission will be fraught with extreme danger and the tension between the two sky rockets.
Can they fight their feelings for one another? Will they be able to find the information that they need? Just how dangerous is this mission and will they make it back? Will one of them need to make the ultimate sacrifice? Read this action packaged adventure and find out the answers to these any many more questions. This author has created a vibrant universe for her big, bold, beautiful, and determined heroes and heroines. The plots and twists will surprise and confound the reader leaving them wanting more.
On the new Revant planet, bad news has filtered through to them. Rumors have that the Federation has claimed all planets as theirs even privately owned ones. The warriors need someone to check into the rumors but the only available brother is Jeval who isn't known for his diplomacy. They tell him to take the human woman Margie along to help out and to pose as his sex slave. Jeval isn't happy with the idea of taking Margie because he is too attracted to her. He has promised himself he will never take a mate or have a child in fear of passing his dark gift on to them. Most babies with his gift quickly die. Margie is a fiery human woman who lived down below on Earth. She was saved by the brothers when she was being ship to be a sex slave. She wants to start a new life but she has a debt to pay to the brothers and no money to start over. Helping Jeval is a good way to pay them back and to strike a blow to the Federation who tried to destroy Earth. She is also strongly drawn to Jeval and wants him even though he keeps pushing her away. Over the course of their adventures, the two fall in love but the universe doesn't have a happy ending planned for them. They can die on their planet when the Federation comes to take over or they can take the battle to the Federation. If they do this, Jeval will have to use his Dark Gift at a level that will kill him. This is a great addition to the series. At first I didn't like Jeval because of how cold and jerky he was being. Then as I learned more, I liked him a lot better. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
Jeval never expects a family or love due to his abilities. He is deadly. Margie is a human who is trying to survive in a new world. She doesn't expect love to develop but is definitely attracted to Jeval. When they admit to their growing connection, it changes everything.
I really enjoyed this sci-fi romance. Jeval and Margie are both lonely and feel apart from others. He fears his abilities being passed to a child. Her world was cruel and she wants a better life. They have great chemistry and you really feel the connection. I liked the mix of action and romance.
While it is part of a series, you can read it as a standalone. There is enough background to not feel lost.
This is the 4th book in the series and u need to read from book 1 to really understand what’s going on. I loved this book and I look forward to more of Celeste’s books. This story is about Jeval a royal prince who has a very dark power and swears never to have children for fear of passing the dark powers onto them, until he meets a human woman Margie. Margie was sold by her father and doesn’t want to b ruled by any other man. This book has action, adventure and love. And I definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves sexy Aliens. Great read and well worth it.
Wow! What a great addition to the series. Jeval and Margie are such wonderful characters. This author has certainly captured the suspense on the planet and amongst the brothers and their mates when they receive a visit from a Federation Officer. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens. Jeval and Margie certainly have more of their story to tell. Well done Celeste. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is the second book in the series and once again it is absolutely wonderful. It has adventure, humour and action. Jeval is a pretty good guy and in the end he does the right thing. Maggie is a strong lead lady and stands her ground. A must read
The final book of the brothers. Have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. What's next for Celeste Raye. What ever it is will be worth the time and cost . She writes books that are interesting, intriguing, funny and hit. Whichever books of hers you get you will seduced into getting more.
The ending of one world and a war to save the beginnings of another. Were one Universe ends will they be able to keep a wormhole closed to prevent the end of their future and Universe. Look forward to read the next story of this series to find out.
This series just gets better. The story has been well written and keeps your attention. The characters are great and written well. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
They are going to inter-galactic war. Talon and Jessica, Jerval and Maggie are off to find Blade and outlaw and rebel that has built up an army. A Federation General has defected with a fleet and more. This book was so good, loved it. It is a cliffhanger for next in series, Blade.
Very good well written book that kept my interest from the first page until the last one .Will everything turn out all right for everyone? Can not wait to read the next book in this series.
