Lilah E Noir dedicated the first of her Unorthodox series to the boxset A Taste of Submission.
It tells the story of how a newbie Dom grows into his role.
Frustrated with his love life so far,he allows his friend Allie,a Mistress,to teach him the basics.
And she then arranges a professional sub,Kat to practice on under her supervision.
That works out so well,he and Kat start dating, and before long they are in a relationship.
Only,Kat has issues that demand more of him than he knows, and it’s nearly too late when he finds out she has them.
Using her need for pain against her,he manages to help her get her issues sorted out.
They both grow during this time,he as a caring Dom,and she with the knowledge what she needs most.
But is that him?

Even though he was an insecure guy in the beginning, one that knew what he liked, but feared to act upon it,i liked how he grew into his role.
How he grew more confident.
And i admit it left me curious as to how he’ll do with his next sub......
And where Kat ends up.

Read as part of a boxset.

I’m a bit frustrated about giving this book just 3 stars. I really have mixed feelings about it.

I think the story is great, but I almost didn’t finish it!
For me it’s starts really bad with some whimsical guy who is going to play the dominant. Ugh!
I hated Thomas and I hated his first scene with Purr.

Somehow, I didn’t stop reading and I’m glad I didn’t, the story is really good, it is.

So, why the rating?
For starters,💥 no safe sex, not even a discussion about being clean or on the pill.
Second, 💥 Thomas might be an unorthodox Dom, but his transformation just isn’t believable IMO

Still, I’m curious about the rest of the trilogy and are going to add it to my TBR.

Summary:

Thomas on his journey to becoming a Dom...4.5 stars!

Unorthodox Dom is the prequel story to the the Unorthodox Trilogy series, and an amazing read as we ride along with Thomas on his journey of self awareness and becoming a confident man and alpha Dom.

Thomas has a crush on his boss, Lina Riley. His shy attempts to interact with Lina always end up awkward, ending with him stuttering his way through conversation. Thomas is disappointed in vanilla sexual experiences that have left him wanting and unsatisfied, so with the insistence of his best friend, Allie, Thomas agrees to Dom training. Hopefully delving into BDSM 101 Thomas will gain trust in himself.

With the help of Purr, a beautiful submissive, Thomas begins to relish the many facets of the kinky lifestyle. Allie’s direction and Purr’s bratty naughtiness provides Thomas the momentum he needs in his journey to sexual awakening, and the goal of becoming a strong, nurturing Dom.

This story had me from the start. I loved how Ms Noir developed the bond between Thomas and Purr. The sexual scenes are way hot, and I felt Thomas’s character change from an unsure boy to a self assured, strong man. I admired Thomas in his commitment in caring for his submissive even when things became out of control in her personal life. But growth for both characters lead them to their own paths. I can’t wait to read the first book in the trilogy, and where his new won confidence leads him. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Unorthodox Dom is a prequel to Unorthodox Therapy, the first book in the Unorthodox Trilogy, but it can be read as a standalone.

Prior to the events that happened between Lina and Thomas in Unorthodox Therapy, Thomas was an insecure young man looking to expand his horizons into BDSM. UD follows his relationship with Kat, his first sub-turned-girlfriend, and gives insight into how she impacted his life. Despite few scenes containing Lina (heroine of Unorthodox Therapy), Thomas’s obsession with her is evident. For a time he manages to refocus his efforts on Kat, but anytime he sees Lina, she unwittingly tempts his demons, leaving Thomas feel dirty as if he had emotionally cheated on Kat.

Much of the story is centered on the process of Thomas training to become a dom, so sex permeates the plot, but not overwhelmingly so. It's a short, entertaining story if you're in the mood for something more erotic. Personally, I wish there had been just a bit more of Lina in the story. I missed her.

There is scene that can be construed as MFF, but isn’t technically a menàge, so keep that in mind.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading this story most of the time. It got a little awkward when Kat went into her funk phase. I'm glad Thomas was able to help her out. I wasn't expecting Thomas to introduce Kat to Lina either, and I sure as hell was not expecting Kat to break up with him in the end.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it had quite an intriguing storyline. Kat is there for Thomas, helping him overcome the majority of his insecurities, while Thomas’ resilience restores equilibrium to Kat’s life.

Thomas is infatuated with Lina, his CEO, but around her he is always reduced to a bumbling idiot. After 3-years, Thomas decides it is now finally time to move on from his unrequited longing. All Thomas’ past experiences have been disappointing; whether this is because of his obsession with Lina or he hasn’t met the right girl, he doesn’t know. Allie is Thomas’ best friend and she knows him better than anyone, so she wonders why he hasn’t taken the first step to becoming a Dom sooner. Allie has found Thomas the perfect submissive, so this will be an opportunity for him to see if the Lifestyle is the right choice for him, and will also enable him to get over his lack of self-confidence. Allie can teach Thomas everything she knows, but she cannot make the first step for him. Kat is an experienced submissive and a trained masochist, but what does dominating someone really mean to Thomas. Kat inspires Thomas to be a better person; not only as a Dom but as a boyfriend. Anxiety has ruled Thomas’ entire existence before Kat, but by making her happy it brings him satisfaction, completely changing his life and giving him a new air of confidence. The longer Thomas spends with Kat, the more he is able to shred his old insecurities and fears. Not the same can be said of Kat, when she shows signs of restlessness. It is possible Kat is not the right girl for Thomas, but she is still an important part of who he is; she is the person who has helped him deal with so many of his personal demons and she is also his friend. Over the next 2-months Thomas takes complete control of Kat’s life and decisions; this is not Thomas her lover, but Thomas her Master and disciplinarian, and while Kat doesn’t fully let go of her insecurities, she learns how to control them. What Kat and Thomas went through as a couple made their relationship special, so why wasn’t Thomas’ attraction towards Lina fading. What was wrong with him; his girlfriend and submissive is right by his side and he is fantasizing about another woman. Kat and Thomas met at a time when they both needed each other, to explore themselves and to push their boundaries, to learn what they wanted; now it is time for them to move forward, to find someone who suits them better. Just a few seconds ago, Thomas had been confident in his future and his plans for the New Year; but what now? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Kat Got Your Tongue

This book is about Thomas. And him finding his way as a DOM. It is a prequel to a series. A shorter read. The content was fine. I just thought the story seemed incomplete. Kinda jumpy. The flow seemed off if that makes sense.

I read this book as part of an arc program. Thomas was learning to embrace his dominant ways and decided to have his friend Allie teach him the right way to be a Dom. Allie finds Thomas the perfect sub for his training, a woman named Kat, who is professional sub. Thomas and Kat have a great connection and when after a month of training, Thomas asks Kat on a date. Kat and Thomas grow very close and they share their pasts with each other, but Thomas doesn't tell Kat about his infatuation with his boss Lina. Thomas is coming out of his shell and his confidence is growing the longer he is with Kat. Kat is in designing school and is slowly spiraling out of control, until Thomas takes control and helps Kat. I liked this story and I enjoyed Thomas coming into his own. He and Kat loved each other, but I think they were not meant to be. I think Thomas was too infatuated with Lina and he held himself back in hopes of being with her. I will be looking forward to the next part of this series.

first for who hasn't read the first book you still can enjoy this one as I did too.
the journey follows a young male Thomas in his time when he was what Kelli called him a vargin kink where he met a beautiful woman who goes by the name Purr
Purr became Thomas's inspiration and also an important role for his transition to fully dom but there relationship goes to a whole emotional break but hopefully they will fight for it .
the book was a new experience too
for one, the story was about inexperience dom which I have never ever read something like usually i read such as innocent or inexperience sub with pro dom but in this one it is totally different so the book is way passed the cliché for me.
second, the book had mostly dramatic events which is somthing I dislike in most of the books I read but in this one I was more anticipating it
all I can say is well done .

I voluntarily received an arc of this book for an honest review. To be quite honest I prefer my doms to be doms from the start of a book and thought Thomas a bit of wimp. I should have known better with a book from author Lilah. What a fabulous read. The friendship between Thomas and Allie came through wonderfully. His little sub Kat on the other hand was quite fiesty and they became an item whilst training. The love story is very special and they encounter some turbulance along the way. The sex as you would expect is something else!! A very engrossing read and truly enjoyable. Another great book from Lilah. I have already got Unorthodox Therapy and am glad I have read this book first. Highly recommended read.

A slightly different sub-dom romance...

This novella is one of the best BDSM stories I’ve read.

There’s a lot to like about it.

Two interesting and engaging characters, who have plausibly-real lives and problems.

An insecure and hesitant guy learning to be the Dom he can be and wants to be.

A sub who’s totally confident and secure in her choice, who knows both what she wants and how to manipulate him while he’s learning.

A romantic relationship.

He’s there for her when she needs a rescuer, and in helping her get back on her feet, he realises who and what he truly is.

And I think it’s a great example of book 1 in a series, as this a complete story, but there’s clearly scope for more stories for both characters, and a hint was dropped a hint about what might come in book 2.

A Different View of Domination

ByRose Howse on November 20, 2017

This was unusual in that our Dom is being trained to dominate submissives. I loved that Thomas is a bit shy and reserved but needs to learn how to be more confidant and his friend Allie, a Domme arranges to train him.
Kat is the submissive that Allie chose for Thomas' training, Kat is a professional submissive and a true masochist.
The path Thomas is lead thru to become a dominant even though he has been a nerdy, shy and lacking in confidence is great!
I can't wait to read the next story!

As unorthodox as its title, but utterly wonderful

This is a special book. The author writes authoritatively from the male perspective, letting the reader feel the narrator's fears, struggles and growth. His development as a Dom is both smoking hot and heart-warming,
Kat is an engaging character and I hope she gets her own story, and a Dom who can give her everything she needs.
The story ends a a good point, which left me wanting more, but felt satisfying in that Thomas and Kat's story was done.
Looking forward to the next book!

An interesting story of a Dom in training who falls for his first sub. It was nice to see the uncertainties of a new Dom during his first scene. However, his journey really isn't described very much beyond that. I am not sure which category this book falls into since I didn't find it to be a romance, BDSM or erotica. Since it is the first chapter in a series, perhaps the purpose was just to set up the rest of the story.

Thomas was hired in as Lina's PA. After proving himself within the IT company, Lina has offered to transfer him to the Development Department and pay for his schooling. Bless his heart, he's the typical IT geek with glasses and low self esteem. To make things worse, he has a HUGE thing for his boss, unfortunately, he becomes a stammering stuttering doofus every time he tries to casually talk to the opposite sex. All except his best friend Sheila, who happens to be a Domme in the BDSM community. Thomas has talked to her many times about his proclivities for wanting to inflict spankings or pain but he's having a tough time wrapping his mind around the difference between this urges and abuse. He doesn't want his partner to fear or hate him after all. That's when Sheila introduces Thomas her friend and co-worker whos is also a professional sub and masochist so she can train him to become a Dom without inadvertently hurting someone with a lower pain tolerance.
This was such a down to earth storyline with an unrequited love, insecurities, flaws, friendship, love, and BDSM. The main and sub characters in the book are so down to earth relatable the entire book just flows while reading it. The scenes themselves are quite intriguing. This was a great book and what looks like the beginning of what could be a terrific series. I can't wait to see where these characters lead us.

This is the first story that I have read by the author. Thomas comes off as an average guy who adheres to his routine of going to work and school with a girlfriend who he does not really mesh well with. However, all is not as it seems as underneath it all, he has a kinky side that his best friend Allie is determined to unleash. Allie is a professional dominatrix and is going to start training Thomas. She brings in Purr (aka Kat) to be the first sub for Thomas as she has an affinity for being spanked and more. Thomas and Kat both have their issues. Is Thomas enough of a dom to help Kat? How does the lust that Thomas feels for his boss fit in to this new dynamic? You have to read the book to find out.
I volunteered to read an arc for a review.

I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy. Ms. Noir write a story about two broken people, who discover some strengths and weaknesses about themselves, work on acceptance of who they are.
The story is of Thomas now training to be a Dom with his best friend Allie.
Allie, a dominatrix, will sets him up with a professional sub Purr (AKA Kat). Kat is a masochist who loves to be spanked and more...Kat is also a broken beautiful lady.
For a while he manages to refocus on Kat, but his ex-girlfriend Lina, who's unwittingly tempts his demons, leaving Thomas feel dirty as if he had emotionally cheated on Kat. Suddenly Thomas discovers just how broken Kat is.
Can't wait to read to next one :)

This was my first book by Lilah Noir and I am excited to try some more of this series. I liked that Thomas was a Dom in training so he wasn't instantly the strongest personality. I loved that Purr/Kat, the sub that Allie found for Thomas training sessions, is submissive but also fiesty and will manipulate him into doing what she wants. Allie is a friend of Thomas that happens to be a Domme. Doesn't take but a few weeks of training sessions and Thomas asks Kat out on a date. The book is about how Kat and Thomas learn to have a relationship that isn't just D/s.

I liked that the author used characters that felt real. They weren't so wealthy and beautiful as to be unimaginable. The author did a good job of developing the characters. Quick, easy read. I recommend.

A Dom in Training. Absolutely love this authors books her writing flows so perfectly with comprehensive details about each character. Unorthodox Dom is the story of how Thomas began his training taught by the Domme his best friend Allie. He learns fast with Kat (aka Purr) as there is a lot of sexual tension between them and realises his sub is really and truly the one in charge. As Kats’ life in there relationship spirals out of control he now asserts his unorthodox therapy. Thomas still has unrequited lust for Lani his CEO boss. This fantastic book I highly recommend. This is my honest review of an ARC I received.

This is quiet a different story than i have read before and i quiet liked it. Usually we get stories from the sub missives side but this story is about Thomas.
Thomas works as a developer and has a crush on his boss, but what he really wants and is to be a dom. And who better to train him than his best friend Allie. Allie is a dominatrix , she introduces him to Kat, who is a beautiful young lady, who loves pain and who is also the best person for Thomas to train with.

Thomas learns how to be a dom, not only using the whip and other tools but also the caring of a submissive. A very well written story and if your not into reading bdsm then this is not for you.

Thomas is just getting started as a Dom

This is the second book in the Unorthodox trilogy, but it's a flashback of sorts, taking place four years before the series begins. You don't need to read any of the other books to understand what’s going on, though. Since it's introducing characters and setting up storylines, there's going to be a lot of development and changes in people--like with Thomas.

Like the warning says, the book has explicit sex. This is a BDSM romance, so keep that in mind and know what to expect--a good book with scorching hot sex scenes and some boundary pushing.

Unorthodox Dom I found to be a breath of fresh air. This story follows Henry who has low self esteem and is insecure, anxious man who becomes a blubbering mess around women. His bestfriend Allie is a Domme who has agreed to help him accomplish his dream of becoming a Dom.
Allie has a friend and professional sub named Purr that is a masochist that has agreed to be his training partner. Together they help each other work out their problems, insecurities and flaws. Their story was so personal ,down to earth about real life struggles, friendships, relationships, love, life and BDSM.
I can't wait to see what journey these characters lives take us.

Thomas is insecure with himself and his relationships, he's smitten with his boss but gets tongue-tied whenever she is around. His best friend Allie is in the scene and introduces him to Kat, a professional sub. Through Allie and Kat, they teach him to become a Dom. Kat is strongwilled but the perfect sub to break Thomas out of his bubble and help him find what he desires from a relationship, the two compliment each other beautifully. Unorthodox Dom is beautifully written. It was a fast read and a great prequel to the series, though can be read on its own.

I really enjoyed this book having read Unorthodox Therapy first this gave some of the background of Thomas's journey to being a Dom. Allie started him on the journey, but it was Kat who gave him the courage and confidence to be the unorthodox dom and remarkable person he becomes. Their love story was sweet even though it was not happily every after. Thomas's abilities as a Dom, albeit unorthodox , put Kat on the right road as a successful student and woman. Kat's submissive strength and insight allowed her to let Thomas go and pursue the love of his life. A really satisfying read.

Ms. Noir wrote a beautiful story about two people who because of their unusual relationship discover some strengths and weaknesses about themselves and then in a safe place work on acceptance of who they are. The characters of Kat and Thomas were so well written and actualized to the degree that the ending was perfect.
The storyline was well paced and flowed beautifully from chapter to chapter and kept me engaged throughout.
I highly recommend this book for your reading pleasure. Enjoy!

The evolution of Thomas. This is a great story of finding one’s self and being true to your own needs. I am really enjoying getting to know Thomas and all the other characters. There is an authenticity to each one of them. They all have their own unique voices and mannerisms that seems to be missing in so many books these days.
This could be read as a standalone but I think one would get more out of it by reading them in order. It doesn’t end in a cliffhanger but I defiantly want to know what is nest for these people.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC.

I absolutely loved how this book played out. I never would have guessed that Kat and Thomas would become a force of love, life, and happiness. They showed what life is like in that type of relationship. It was so romantic yet down right sexy. It gives us all something to strive for. I hope that this book isn't the end of either of their stories. I honestly hope that everyone gets a chance to read this story. So worth it. I give this 5 stars.
