“...life was finite, and none of us were replaceable, and death was capricious and sudden.”

Ride Dirty is the first Laura Kaye read for me and this is one read I could not put down. For a novella, Ride Dirty packs a powerful punch! Caine McKannon is a tortured alpha male who lives for his club and his brothers. One night he rescues Emma Kerry, a sweet Kindergarten teacher, from being attacked. Although these two couldn't be more opposite, a spark is ignited. Caine is a damaged soul who needs to experience unconditional love. Emma is the presence that changes his life forever.

description
“Half the time he felt entirely out of control. Half the time he threw up walls out of fear. And half the time he opted out of life before anyone had the chance to discard him. No matter that the math didn’t add up, it was just how he felt.”
Overall, Ride Dirty packs a powerful punch with romance, MC action, and plenty of smoking hot passion. This is one fantastic read and now that I have had a taste of the Raven Riders, I am hungry for more!

4 1/2 "Can I lay close to you?" Stars!!

I loved it! I loved Emm. She was smart, sweet, and a straight shooter. But I really loved Cain! I knew his story would be heartbreaking and tragic, but that made his fall for Emma that much sweeter. He deserved to be happy. He was so closed off, but a born protector. And with Emma, he was a complete sweetheart. He had me at the medicine. You'll see if you read it. 😉

Though LK tells a very complete story in this novella, I would have loved to have a full length novel with these two. They were fun to read... and HOT! 🔥 A fantastic addition to the Raven Riders world. Now, fans let's petition LK for more! Jagger and Phoenix both need their HEA! Two more novellas would be great! Happy reading!

“I’m not a hero, Emma. You need to remember that.”

RIDE DIRTY was a 5 STAR READ all the way! It is quite possibly one of my FAVORITES of the series! Big bad biker, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Raven Riders collides with a beautiful and sweet kindergarten teacher…now that is the making of a damn good romance, don’t you think? Tortured hero, sweet soul…the coupling and the contrast between Caine and Emma was beautiful, emotional, and just necessary, I think. This was a bit of a slow burn romance because of the way these two crossed paths at first, but it blossomed into something endearing, addictive, and SEXY. I was addicted from very start and it just got better and better. Caine and Emma’s love story was full of so much heart and it warmed my soul, inside and out. Leave it to Laura Kaye to bring her A-GAME with this series!

Just a side note - RIDE DIRTY is part of the Raven Riders Series but it CAN be read as a standalone romance. If you’re a fan of the series, you are in for a real treat when we dive deeper into the sexy and brooding Caine McKannon. If you are a newbie, you’re ALSO in for a treat because you’re about to become deliciously addicted to this series. It’s a win-win, either way. Happy reading, and welcome to the sexy, suspenseful, and emotional world of the Raven Riders!

If you are a fan of the broken damaged tortured alpha hero who gets healed and finds love in a sweet and innocent heroine, then Ride Dirty by Laura Kaye is the book for you. This novella is part of Raven Riders series and can most definitely be read as a standalone as this novella focuses on biker, Caine McKannon.

#RideDirty_lauraKaye

Caine is the Raven Riders’ Sergeant-at-Arms, whose job is to protect his brothers and club. He is a man of few words and who has always kept his distance. There isn’t much revealed about Caine since he keeps his past locked up tight and so when he rescues Emma Kerry from a mugger, he suddenly finds himself drawn to her and wanting to protect her when it seems there is someone wanting to do harm to Emma. So what happens when Emma begins to show affection for Caine? Will she be able to break down his walls and show him that he is worthy of love? Or will he push her away?

Ride Dirty is a fast paced love story but had an intricate layer of raw emotions to keep readers intrigued with Caine’s past. So if you are looking for a story that was a fantastic mix of sexy and sweet then this novella is for you.

"Ride Dirty" was the first book I've read in the Raven Riders series. I've read other books by Laura Kaye and her writing style is on point and easy to follow even with flashbacks scenes throughout the story. The special angle of what the Raven Riders MC did in the community was refreshing because as Caine stated: “Provided protection, investigating threats, and installing security, this is what I do. I know you don’t know a lot about us, but we have a whole mission around defending people who can’t defend themselves."

Intimidating hero, Caine McKannon was an observant character that really pulled at my heartstrings due to him not feeling worthy of heroine, kindergarten teacher, Emma Kerry although he held the highly-regarded position of Sergeant-in-Arms of Raven Riders MC. He did his job well but if anything bad went down he was the hardest on himself and caring heroine, Emma noticed it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Caine and Emma's memorable journey because Emma applied her pedagogy skills to deal with Caine's personality... a lot. Yes, teacher tend to do that... alot! lol!!!!!!

“Kindergarten teachers are like…paragons of innocence and sweetness.” - Caine

She could see Caine like no one ever had and that blew his mind sometimes... As they grew to know more about one another, their relationship blossomed to one that was built upon physical attraction, acceptance, unconditional love, respect and Caine's redemption.

Secondary characters were plentiful with President Dare, his fiancee, Haven, Dutch owner of the restaurant, and MC members, Jagger and Phoenix and they were all great extensions to the story ... so I really want to read their stories!! Oh and I can't about Emma, Tzu Shu, Chewie who even grew to love Caine in the story!

“Then let me tell you again. I love you. Every bit of you. Your past and your present and your mistakes and your strengths. I love you, Caine. Nothing else matters to me. And trust me, I’ve considered it all.” - Emma

I gave this story a 4.5 stars because two issues was never resolved in this story: The minister of the 'big church' and also if he started the fire at the home of the protectees, Ana Garcia who charged him with sexual assault!

- Thanks for the recommendation Michelle!

Caine McKannon is the Sergeant-At-Arms for the Raven Riders and feels responsible for the well being of the club and those under their protection. He wears a tough biker and enforcer persona as armor. He is a loner and anti-social. He is intense, tortured, has self worth issues, and does not let anyone get close enough to engage his heart.

Emma Kerry is a kindergarten teacher who lives a quiet life alone with her dog. But one night Caine happens to be in the right place at the right time to save her from an attack. But due to some unresolved issues with the situation, he just could not stop himself from going into protector mode and keeping tabs on her. Emma is funny, sweet, honest, and actually seems to see the real Caine. But she is also vulnerable not only from the person who seems to be targeting her, but also to a broken heart from Caine since he is not used to connecting with anyone.

She embodies what he has most secretly wanted, but is also what he has most feared...a true connection, feelings, and potential to be a mate. She brings the potential of light to his darkness. Caine is a very complex man with layers upon layers of pain, rejection, and guilt that make him feel unworthy of love. He is an expert at pushing people away, but Emma is smart and tenacious. They are mixed up in a dangerous situation and Caine is determined not to let anything happen to her, but is also afraid of failing.

This one focuses more on Caine and Emma away from the club, but there are some cameos from Raven Riders and Haven. This is really Caine's journey towards trust, self worth, hope, and unconditional love and acceptance. His vulnerable, broken soul touched me. He was so protective, quietly noble, guilt ridden, and the smallest things could make him happy or appreciative. But he was so guarded and scared of being hurt, failing, or hurting someone else. Emma's perceptiveness, understanding, ability to see past his guards, and big heart was the perfect foil to his hardened heart. Their chemistry was intense, hot, and a bit dirty. I really loved these two together.

This is a longer novella and she was able to pack in a slow burn romance, complicated back stories, suspense, danger, sexy times, and emotional situations. It can be read as a stand-alone or a series companion. And I know this is supposed to be the last in this series, but I would still love to revisit Jagger and Phoenix.

I was gifted a copy.

Ride Dirty was the fourth book in the Raven Riders MC series by Laura Kaye. It was also a novella within the 1001 Dark Knights series.

Caine McKannon was the MC’s Sargent-At-Arms. He was perfect for the job; known for being quiet, anti-social, detached and deadly. We knew he was quiet, serious, rarely showed emotion and harbored demons from previous books but we didn’t know the why behind the what. In Ride Dirty we got it all.

Emma Kerry was a kindergarten teacher that was in the process of being mugged one night when Caine happened upon her. He saved her and helped her get through the night; which started what was seemingly an odd friendship.

I loved both Caine and Emma. And I loved the storyline. As a novella, it was quick, but it was endearing as well as suspenseful. It was well written, well developed, and had me hooked from the onset. Emma was the fun sass to Caine’s brooding intimidation. I love the Raven Riders and can’t wait for more!

Wow, did I love this. I rarely, if ever, give a novella a 5 star rating. I think the last and only time I did was for Father Mine which I read ages ago. So this was well deserved. I can't say enough how much I enjoy Laura Kaye's writing. She's so fearless. The fact that the hero is a bisexual and didn't hesitate at labeling himself that because of his past history just blew me away. I seriously wasn't expecting that and I didn't even know he was bi before reading this. Major kudos to Kaye for that. Caine always intrigued me from the start, the quiet stoic mystery Ravin Rider Sargent at arms. It was so great to see what makes him click in here and finally get his POV. While I really wish he got a full length book this was quite a satisfactory story. Caine McKannon was such a wonderful and intriguing mix of alpha and beta hero, so devoted and hardheaded about protecting everyone around him but such a complete vulnerable insecure softy. I didn't think it was possible for us to get to know this character's whole complicated heartbreaking backstory and show him overcoming that but I feel Kaye handled it in a convincing smart way. The fact that the story covers a month also helped paced things out nicely and not make it seem rushed in a short page count. Not only is Kaye fearless in her writing she thinks things through, she's a meticulous writer which I really appreciate. Every character has some vice or gut wrenching story of some kind but it's not used for shock factor. You can tell she does her research and has a reason for everything, she plays all her character beats really well. The in here is a shining example of that. I thought him and Emma made a wonderful couple. So many sweet, adorable touching moments in here. Sexy too. Lawd, Laura Kaye really knows how to bring on the heat. Good lord. 😓😳🔥

Great read! Really bummed this series was so short but definitely going to try other Laura Kaye offerings.

Ride Dirty is part of author Laura Kaye's Raven Riders series and is the fourth novella in the 2018 1,001 Dark Nights line-up.  For many years now I have looked forward to anything Laura Kaye puts out and this was no exception.  I couldn't wait for Caine and Emma's story and, oh my, it was just as amazing as I knew it would be.

Here's the thing about Laura Kaye and broken heroes...holy hell can she write them!  Caine is such the perfect example of that.  He's had a horrible past. Truly heartbreaking and it had my chest physically aching as I was reading him and just how far he's come and how he's still trying to overcome things today.  I just loved him and wanted nothing more for him to have his happy ending.  Enter Emma...

If ever there was a gal perfect for Caine, it was Emma.  She's the sunshine in his darkness and I loved them together. The connection they share is emotional and intense and it's deliciously steamy and BEYOND sexy.  These two burned up the pages and I was so sad to have read them as fast as I did!  It's stories like these that make me hate reading as fast as I do!

And now this is where I go into how sad I am to see this series come to an end.  I have loved these guys and gals from the very beginning and while I will miss them, I know Ms. Kaye has other amazing stories in store for us!

Whether you're already a fan of Ms. Kaye or this is your first taste, I know you will love Ride Dirty as much as I did!

When I was contacted with an offer to read this for free in exchange for a honest review...I was more than excited but also feeling a bit sad too since this is the last book of the series (although maybe Laura Kaye will add some more novella's down the road---maybe Jagger and Phonexix...*crossing fingers*) I have had such a blast with this series and don't want to say goodbye to the Raven Riders but I couldn't wait to pick up Caine's book.

Caine is the sergeant at arms for the club, and he keeps himself distanced socially. He doesn't like being around people very much. Caine has a painful past and doesn't like to get emotionaly involved. But when he rescues a woman getting attacked he starts to realize that Emma is the one person that may get too close.

Emma is a kindergarten teacher, who lives alone with just her dog for company. She doesn't have any family to speak of, and finds herself envious at times of Caine's adopted family of the "Raven Riders". But when she starts to find Caine around more, and with signs of someone stalking her, she is relieved to have Caine by her side.

I truly had a blast with this novella...Caine and Emma made such a darling couple that you find yourself drawn to and man they had a great connection. I have always been intrigued by Caine through the series, he is so closed off so I was really loving seeing the hidden depths to him and seeing him find his happy ever after and Emma was such a sweet and kind heroine. She is playful and fun and she has the right personality for Caine.  I adored the way that these two come together...their relationship is sexy and poignant. Highly recommend if you are a fan of the series.

Reread 2019-Caine is such a quiet guy that I tend to forget how deep he can be.

An emotionally damaged hero paired with an optimistically forgiving heroine adds up to a very intriguing read! Dimensional characters, gripping emotion, a bit of edgy suspense...I really need to catch up with the rest of the series!

I haven't read any of the Raven Riders books but I sure will in the future.
This is the second novella of Laura Kaye I've read and I liked both of them pretty much (and that means something because I don't like novellas a lot, usually).

Looking for a good novella? Read this one or you can also pick "Hearts in Darkness", the other great one.

I've been SO curious about Caine so I loved finally getting his story. And his heroine, Emma, is perfect for him. They are such a great balance to each other. Loved this story. And am hoping for more Raven Riders soon because I'm eager to hear the stories of other members!!

Caine is the Sergeant at Arms of the Raven Riders so we've seen him in the background in the previous stories but as he tends to keep himself at a distance from the others we don't know a great deal about him. He's a loyal member of the crew who will do whatever is needed to keep his brothers safe but he's still a loner who avoids club functions where possible. Emma is a kindergarten teacher who has never had any dealings with the Raven Riders before but when Caine rescues her from an attempted mugging he goes out of his way to make sure she is safe and she is drawn to his protective streak. When further instances occur around her home and place of work it quickly becomes clear that the original attack may have been more than a random mugging Caine is determined to get to the bottom of things before Emma is seriously hurt.

I've really enjoyed all of the stories in this world so I'll always jump at any chance to spend time with the Raven Riders. This story is a little different as none of it is set at the clubhouse but because Caine is a bit of a loner the setting worked well and we do still get to see a few familiar characters. Caine's backstory is pretty heartbreaking and it's easy to understand why he's afraid to let people get close to him but Emma is the perfect person to break through his barriers. Her life hasn't been anywhere near as hard as Caine's but she's had her own difficulties and her experiences working with traumatised children let her see his attempts to push her away as the self defence mechanisms they are. These two are absolutely adorable together and their relationship was one of the sweetest in the series, don't get me wrong they also had fantastic chemistry and they both have quite a dirty streak but we also got some really cute moments with them just spending time together talking.

I believe that Ride Dirty is the final book in the Raven Riders series which I have to admit is a little disappointing. Not because we've been left with loose ends but because I enjoy these characters and there are still more of the riders that I'd have liked a chance to get to know better. I'm hoping Laura Kaye will change her mind and decide to revisit this group in the future but I'm always excited to see what other stories she comes up with so she definitely remains on my auto-buy list.

A chance meeting under less than stellar conditions has kindergarten teacher Emma Kerry wondering all about biker Caine McKannon and the Raven Riders he claims are the only family he knows. Laura Kaye allows the Raven Riders to ride into the sunset with their heads held high in the last book in this series, Ride Dirty.

Caine will do anything for his MC brothers except allow them to get too close, a loner after years of neglect, abuse, and living life on the edge, Caine is patrolling the neighborhood of one of the club’s protectees when a woman’s scream sends him into action. While he is able to keep the attacker from harming the woman, she loses her keys and wallet and Caine loses a bit of his heart. Emma Kerry has been on her own since the grandmother who raised her died three years ago and while she is capable of fending for herself when she is mugged by her home, Emma is shaken but the big, burly biker that rescued her makes her feel safe and cherished.

As this was a novella (although a long novella), the relationship moved at a rapid pace but given the conditions under which they met and the fact it was the Christmas season I didn’t question it too much. I actually loved these two together, I felt that Emma soothed Caine’s rough edges and made him see his worth to others and I liked that Emma surprised Caine since he pretty much decided she was too innocent and pure to enjoy a man like him. As far as the relationship aspect of this book goes, I really enjoyed watching them grow closer each and every day, what felt a bit off to me is the “suspense” angle mainly because there didn’t seem to be any motive.

A very good addition to the Raven Riders, series Ride Dirty was emotional, sexy, and entertaining.

Holy wow this story packed a punch! What an excellent addition to the Raven Riders series. I loved getting to know the gruff and quiet Caine. He and Emma had a fantastic story. Loved it!

I thought Emma and Caine were awesome characters. I loved them meeting and getting to know one another and the tentativeness between the two in the beginning. There connection is sweet and fun. I've been curious about Caine since he was first introduced in the series so seeing the man behind the skull cap was eye opening. There were so many intense moments of emotion and raw vulnerability and I could feel his pain. Learning his history was hard but I soaked in those details. I felt really drawn to his story. I loved Emma as well and how she was just so perceptive and open to him and how she was willing to put herself out there and take a chance. She was just incredibly compassionate and sincere.

I loved the fast paced build to Caine and Emma’s relationship, they had such a great connection so it totally worked for me. I thought these two had a great attraction and loved watching their walls come down and them open up as they come together. It was balanced out well with some lighter, more playful moments and those scenes had me smiling big time. As far as heat goes, their chemistry is simmering and together they were on fire (it’s not lacking in the sexy times at all)!!!

There's an excellent amount of drama happening as well. I liked that added element keeping me on the edge of my seat. This is a novella so it's at a faster pace but it's not missing any details. I thought there was a great build to the sweetness and the suspense keeping on my toes and craving my HEA.

I absolutely enjoyed this and loved the ending. This had it all! Excellent read!

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....

More often then not I will find one book or more in a series that I like better then the others. This also works for one that wasn't as great too. Usually for me it's not a novella, instead I often fall for a full length novel.

I think that has to do with the fact that you feel like you get more out of a novel over novella. That's not always true, but it does seem to happen for me.

Well...

That's right, this time for this series it's a novella that I'm totally blown away with. I have so many thoughts moving around my head that I can't seem to focus on one. That's how much I really enjoyed this story.

Don't get me wrong I'm not sure there has been a Laura Kaye book that I haven't yet enjoyed. She's just one of those authors that seems to always writes a story I enjoyed. Yes, some more then others, but I don't often not enjoy them. All pluses in my book.

For some reason I just loved, Ride Dirty more then any of her other books. I think it was Caine. His character just shouted out for someone to get him, to understand what he was and who he has become. You want to both hug him and cheer him on.

Caine's road wasn't always easy and I think it took him awhile to truly understand what it means to love another person and I'm not talking only about male, female love. I mean to love those who are the most informant to us. Friends, loved ones and even our furry family members. This was something important that he need to figure out and I believe by the end of the book he did just that. Without even knowing he was learning it. Sigh...the best way of learning it. Naturally.

Yes I thought for me that Caine really made this book but without Emma he wouldn't have been able to open himself up enough to learn what he needed to learn. She stood by him even knowing his past and present. Easy to say you'd do so, hard to really do it.

Together I think they are a perfect match. They just work. Each gives the other what they really need in life. I can honestly say that I was very sad when I was done with this book and that was it. I could have read many more pages of their story.

I love when that happens.

If you haven't yet read this series I've got to ask, why not? Believe me when I say that you would really enjoy it. I would read it in order to really get a feel for what these men are about. Heck, go back and start with her Hard Ink series and work your way to this one. They tie in together and all are very good.

Laura Kaye can do no wrong!

Let's be honest - I love everything Laura Kaye writes! So it's no surprise that this one is getting 5 stars.

Ride Dirty features Caine, the most private and taciturn of the Raven Riders motorcycle club. We knew there had to be something heavy in his past, and was there ever!

I loved Caine and Emma together. Caine had so much baggage from his horrific past that he was convinced he was worthless. He tried, he really tried, to convince Emma that he wasn't made for anything more than a quick hook up. But there was so much more to Emma than anyone would expect, and she saw through all of Caine's attitude, not to mention all the tats and piercings, to the man he really was.

All in all, I found Ride Dirty to be a wonderful and emotionally satisfying story. And the epilogue? Perfect! And so sweet!

By the way, I should mention that although Ride Dirty is part of a series, it stands very well on its own, so jump in and enjoy!

The 1001 Dark Nights titles are favorites of mine. Based, loosely, on Scheherazade and the tales of the Arabian Nights, each story is short but tells a full and compelling story... which if you know the legend, that's the whole point.

Caine is security for an MC club.

Emma is a kindergarten teacher.

A match made in heaven, right? No issues and smooth sailing.

Oddly, it absolutely is. Yes, there are relationship hurdles, but these people just work together.

In Emma, Caine finds acceptance and a willingness to trust. She understands him, she gets who he is and why he does the things he does.

In Caine, Emma finds the connection with another human being that's been lacking in her life since her grandmother's death.

This is a shorter novella, so the characters aren't as fully developed as they might be in a longer title, but I felt I got a full story. With a resolution in a relationship I could believe in, and that made this a fun read.

That and the crazy hot sex. That was fun too.

I recommend this title.

I was so so sooo excited to read Caine's story and at the same time, it saddened me, knowing it'd be the last story in the Raven Riders series. I fell hard for Laura's writing when I read the Hard Ink series, which was my first Laura Kaye series I've read. And when I started reading the spin-off, Raven Riders first book, I got even more hooked to this authors writing. I've been there right from the start when book 1, Ride Hard, released and it ends now with 'Ride dirty, #3.5. I was one of the lucky readers/reviewers who received an e-arc in exchange for an honest review . Here we go..

First off: This book can be read if you haven't read the prior books in the series, so that's important to know I think. But: If you've read the prior books in this series you've probably been really curious about Caine for a while now - he is, after all, the character we voted for in Laura's reader's group to get his own book right? - and from what Laura told us beforehand about Caine, it promised to be a very emotional read.

Did it live up to the high expectations I had beforehand? YES, IT DID!

I don't think Laura has the ability to disappoint me, ever. Seriously. Whether she writes novella's/short stories or full-length novels; she makes everything work and she makes me fall IN LOVE with her stories, every single time. She creates interesting story-lines - to say the least-, amaaaazing characters and the romance/sexy times is just to die for in combination with her writing skills! And sure, I have a weak spot for biker romance, but all her other books so far have been nothing short of amazing. So let's get back to it; Caine's story.

It was everything I'd hoped it'd be and more and that makes me sooo incredibly happy! The angst-ridden, slow burning-plot was a joy to read and very well written and developed I think. Because of that slow-burn plot, the romance was incredibly well developed, even though this isn't a complete full-length novel and Laura had lesser pages to fill. These two main characters are nothing short of amazing, whether they're apart or together. But together; THEY BURN AND CREATE MAGIC.

My heart goes out to Caine especially, regarding his upbringing/past. It broke my heart, reading about his insecurities and at the same time, I felt so overwhelmed and joyful by the fact that he also turned out to be as great as he is. Yes, he suffers because of his past and it left demons behind that he needs to fight, but it didn't turn him evil - which happens so often when one has a past like he does - and I just really couldn't love him more for that.

I loooove how Emma is just what he needs and that he doesn't need long to see that, despite him being scared to love someone. Emma really is such a wonderfully written character, whom I loved right from the start. You can't just not love her, you really can't. She's that person that you want as a best friend, who's so sweet and always there for anyone and so understanding. But really, Caine and Emma are so beautiful together and made my heart combust several times for very different reasons hehe.. This romance is so incredibly sweet and SO FREAKING HOTTTT at the same time. One moment I was swooning, the next I was in need of a cool-down because I was burning so HOT, lol.

I'm sooo soooo sad that this is the last of the Raven Riders. I could've easily read at least 4 more books in this series. All of the characters are just so amazing and it's going to be so hard, coping with the fact that this was the last. But my god.. did Laura write an amazing last story for us. You are going to LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE Caine. You're going to fall in love so hard and you can't do anything other then read this book in one-sitting! ENJOY! I know I DID!!

My first reaction after just finishing this book - that I left in the Facebook readers group - really says it all:

Caine is adhbgdhkbgfdbgfbr *fangirl squeal*. This was such a heart wrenching and beautiful story. Thank you Laura Kaye <3 I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms because I don't want to say goodbye to the Raven Riders! What a magnificent last story you wrote for this series with Caine, sigh <3

I loved this story so much! I hate that this is the final book in this series. I feel there are so many more stories to be told! Phoenix! Jagger! Maybe one day she'll be able to circle back to them.

Caine McKannon is the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. He's all about rules, and he NEVER lets anyone close to him. Safer that way for everyone. He had a traumatic childhood, and he's never had anyone he could really count on until he met his brothers in the club. They all rely on him to do his job, but he never really relies on them. He never wants to burden them, so he remains quite the loner. Then one night, while running his circuit through town, checking on all the people that are under the Raven's protection, he stumbles upon a mugging in progress, and he rescues the victim, Emma. He helps her and waits with her for the locksmith to get her back into her house. There's an attraction there, but he thinks from the start that she's too good for him. Neither of them are prepared for what the future holds for them.

Emma Kerry is a kindergarten teacher, and she is great with kids and animals. She has a tiny dog named Chewy, and she lives alone, near the school. She pretty much walks everywhere in town, including to work, so she is stunned when she gets mugged. She's even more stunned when her hero ends up being a huge, tattooed, intimidating biker. But something about Caine draws her in, and she wants to know more about him. Emma has no family left, and she lives a pretty solitary life. Her two best friends are fellow teachers, but both are married, and one has a child, so they are only available to hang out every so often. When other vandalism and things start happening around her, they realize maybe this wasn't just your typical mugging after all, and she needs protection. Caine is just the man for the job.

Caine and Emma had a slow burn chemistry that really came to life the more time they spent together. I loved watching them get to know each other, and become more comfortable with each other. Caine made Emma feel safe, but she wasn't sure she could trust him with her heart. Caine felt Emma deserved better than him, and he was scared to let her too close. When they finally opened up to each other, it was beautiful.

The suspense plot was not super intricate, but I wouldn't expect it to be in a novella this size. It was still exciting watching them figure out who was after Emma, and why. Caine had a lot of pain and secrets in his past, and watching him finally deal with his demons was painful. Especially the way in which he decided to reveal them to Emma. But I appreciated the realness it brought to Caine's character and his struggles.

I loved getting glimpses of Dare & Haven and many of the other Ravens from the prior books. I'm really going to miss this awesome world the author has created, and all the amazing characters in it. I highly recommend this novella, and it made a great capper to the series.

Laura Kaye is an author that knows how to write exciting books but I must also bow to her ability of writing novellas. I am one of the hardest critics of short stories because I usually find them lacking and incomplete but Ride Dirty surprised me with its depth and intensity.
I have been intrigued by the mysterious Caine from the previous books but this man will captivate you with his story and his past. If you haven't read this series , Caine is the sergeant of arms of a motorcycle club, the Ravens. Although, they are his only family, he keeps his feelings stocked away and himself isolated. When he saves a lovely woman from a robbery he suddenly feels the need to protect her but he doesn't count that she will be the one to save him.
Emma is a kindergarten teacher with her only companion her dog. Mysterious things happen to her that make her feel threatened but the silent rider offers her peace and so much more.
Their attraction between them cannot be denied but Caine has to open up and trust Emma for them to work. Emma is such a sweet woman. She is kind and caring but she also has this strength inside her. She is not afraid to ask of what she wants and she is ready to face her man's demons. Caine is nothing I expected. He might be tough but his heart is vulnerable. He has put up walls so he won't be hurt again but Emma gives him hope and freedom.
Their relationship is honest, sexy and sweet. They really respect each other and although Caine has many ghosts from his past, I loved that they had fun together and they bonded like family.
Laura Kaye wrote a deeply emotional but also thrilling novella and my only wish was to read more about them!

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I have to say that the Raven Riders series have been a bit of an uphill battle for me, but they've improved with every book. With this being the final book in the series, I was eager to see how things would go for the finale. I have to say that I was rather disappointed with this installment, particularly the ending, even though I did enjoy the book overall.

I felt that a lot of Caine's backstory was glossed over for most of the book, then when it finally did come out, it wasn't explored that much! For it to have an emotional impact for me, I needed a lot more details about his feelings than what I got! I also felt that it was hard to believe in his connection to Emma, because he felt so closed off to me. Likewise, we also didn't get much about Emma's background, which made her harder to connect to.

My biggest problem with this story was the ending. The stalker angle was too convenient and came out of left field to me. It also felt glossed over and wrapped up too neatly to be believable. The Happily Ever After also felt glossed over and rushed to me. It wasn't a satisfying ending to the series like Hard Ink had previously had.

If I put all of that aside, I actually enjoyed the book. It kept me engaged and entertained throughout it. But the nitpicker in me was left wanting more.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, there is nothing like a Laura Kaye book and the latest novella Ride Dirty just cemented my adoration for this author even more. The way she writes just sucks you in almost immediately and she knows how to write hot and sexy. Ride Dirty needed to come with a you may need a wardrobe change warning in it. I know there are other biker and teacher romances out there but I really loved this one. While it may be considered a novella, this is not lacking in development, characters or depth.

Caine has a past that no one should ever have, abuse, neglect and a deep-rooted pain that keeps him for anyone getting too close and with his background, you can completely understand why that is. He may have protected Emma, but she saves him. I don’t want to reveal too much because I could accidentally spoil it if I did and that is the last thing I ever want to do. Just prepare yourself for one dirty ride; ha see what I did there, when you read Ride Dirty.

Honestly now I want to go back and read the series again after reading Ride Dirty. If you are looking for another amazing read from Laura Kaye, then please check out not only Ride Dirty but the entire Raven Riders series because I think I can say you won’t be disappointed.

According to the author, this is it for our beloved do-gooding bad boy bikers. This novella is part of the Raven Riders series. We have met Caine in some of the previous books but don't know a lot about him. If you like your heroes tortured, brooding and very protective--you will love Caine!

Caine meets Emma as he rushes to her aide when she is being attacked. That event sets in motion a yearning, a needing to know that neither Caine or Emma was expecting. Caine doesn't do people and Emma is a total helper person. She wants to make things right. Seems like oil and water, right? Ah, but those walls come tumbling down.

All it takes is love. If you can't do anything at all, be kind. Despite the attraction. Despite the mind blowing orgasms. Emma is simply kind. She shows affection where none has been given and for once in his life, Caine feels he may be worthy.

Nice bit of suspense throughout the story. Some break your heart open moments but mixed in is a bit of humor. The dog adds a bit of comic relief on his own. Great to see the rest of the MC out in support of Caine.

Loved it all! Sad to not visit with this bunch anymore.
