Such a different story. It took sometime to grasp the way of language use by the writer. Soo different and once I got the hint I found it soo beautiful. By the end the I started feeling the beauty of malayalam.... Think a lot of readers may have heard about the novel but haven't gone through it. Those who love malayalam go for it and u won't regret

ഇംഗ്ലീഷും ഫ്രഞ്ചും ഉൾപ്പെടെ എട്ടു ഭാഷകളിൽ പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയ നോവലാണിത്. 2010 ൽ ഈ നോവലിനെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി ഒരു ചലച്ചിത്രം കൂടി ഇറങ്ങുകയുണ്ടായി. മാമൂട്ടി എന്ന മുസ്ലിം യുവാവും കാർത്തി എന്ന ഹിന്ദു യുവതിയും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രണയവും വിവാഹവും ആണ് പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ഇതിവൃത്തം. മതം മാറിയെങ്കിലും കാർത്തിക്ക് അവളുടെ പൈതൃകമായി കിട്ടിയ മതത്തെയും ആചാരങ്ങളെയും മുഴുവനായി ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. മതപരമായ വികാരങ്ങളെയും ബന്ധങ്ങളെയും പറ്റി ശക്തമായി ഇതിൽ പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പഴയ വാക്കുകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ഒരു പഴമയുടെ ഗന്ധം ആസ്വദിക്കാൻ വായനക്കാർക്ക് ആവുന്നു.

Karthi, a Hindu girl, who will fall in love with a Muslim and will leave her home to be with her lover. This sets a chain of events that will lead to the birth of a myth.
The story, taken alone, is not impressive. But when you consider the poetic prose, narration and intention, it becomes beautiful. The author urges us to look beyond the walls of religion and remind us of our common ancestry. The culture, whose deep roots and colours are often ignored, rears its head at the most unlikely times and results in a pattern that is often confused as myths. The book is an interesting read.

ബിരുദ പഠനസമയത്ത് വായിച്ച പുസ്തകം. പഠനവിഷയമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ കൂടുതൽ ആഴത്തിൽ വായിക്കാനും ആസ്വദിക്കാനുമായി. പക്ഷേ സിനിമയാക്കിയപ്പോൾ അത്രകണ്ട് നന്നായില്ല എന്നും തോന്നി. ചില സന്ദർഭങ്ങൾ മനസുകളിൽ അല്ലാതെ പുനർ സൃഷ്ടിക്കാൻ വലിയ പാടാണ്.

നോവൽ എന്നതിലുപരിയായി, മിത്തുകളും കെട്ടുകഥകളും ഇഴപിരിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്ന ഐതിഹ്യമാലയിലെ ഒരു ഐതിഹ്യത്തിന്റെ ചാരുതയുള്ള ഒരു നീണ്ട കഥയാണ് കെ.പി രാമനുണ്ണിയുടെ സൂഫി പറഞ്ഞ കഥ.

ആരും പറയാത്ത (ഞാൻ വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത) ഒരു കഥാതന്തു.. അതു് വളരെ വ്യത്യസ്തമായ, എന്നാൽ വളരെ പെട്ടെന്ന് പരിചിതമാവുന്ന ഒരു ഭാഷയിൽ നരേറ്റ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.. ഒന്നൂടെ വായിക്കണം.
