I want to love these but this arc has been so slow with so little story. They finally shoe-horned some of Silver's backstory and motivation into this volume at the very end...but it's rather silly. Where Red's arc at least loosely followed the story of the games this chunk seems off the rails. While there are some ties to the games, like the old couple in GoldenRod, there isn't any true story other than Gold chasing Silver. Team Rocket made the briefest of appearances but they had a central part in the game's story and don't seem to matter overall here. Plus the plot of the computer systems being down, PLUS training for the new gym leaders. It's so many plots and nothing truly dedicated to developing any of the storylines. Meh. Not enjoying this second arc much.
✔️Battles are intense and full of thrills. You can clash in them and the challenge is there. You have to learn to trap your opponent and gain the upper hand. Without these elements, there would be no fun to the battle.
✔️Pokemon trainers even if they get defeated or win they still practice to keep on growing stronger. A good trainer will never give up and keeps on going. They stay determined.
✔️Pokemon is always so fun and it expands upon the knowledge that we already seem to know. This is why it’s so popular. This is why I love it. The dynamics are always so interesting. Pokémon surprises you when you least expect it.
And this book....
Meets all those guidelines.
There are also signs of some characters from the previous adventures that we all know of....
The full blooming rivalry between Gold and Silver is just too sweet. And when they clashed with all their Pokémon, just when Silver gains the upper hand Gold manages to surprise him.

With the exception of the rushed revolution into Politoed, this volume flows well and the links between narrative threads made sense. Some of the battle artwork around the Lake of Rage was unclear, but the Red's battle looked great. Whilst it would have been nice to see the evolutions for returning characters' team, I think they make enough logical sense to be taken in stride.
I'm really enjoying the Gold and Silver saga of Pokémon Adventures! Gold and Silver are great characters and I loved seeing a bit of Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. Can't wait to see how they tie into it.
I liked this book. It was, out of ten, one being the worst, and ten being the best, a seven and a half out of ten. The reason why I liked this book so much is because of the adventure, I liked the descriptive language, and I liked the deception of true identity. It was a fun book to read, do not get me wrong, but something I did not like about this book was that it was not long enough of a read. Another thing that I did not like about this book was that it jumped from one point of the book to another so fast that it was like how you would snap your fingers, or how you would blink your eyes. This book was good because, the author was good with the overall setting of the book.It had a good mystery point of view. It had a variety of settings, a variety of people, and a variety of personality inside people. I do not know why I keep saying bad things about this book, because I really liked this book, so I should get back to the good things about this book! What else I liked about this book was that I got a good laugh out of some parts, but I thought there was too much seriousness in the story line. I liked that there was a good-ish pace of the story. I did not like the fact that some of the characters almost died! It happend a lot in the book… maybe too much! The size of the book was a little too small, but who am I to judge! Seriously though it could have been a lot bigger. Not to brag or anything, but I have read all of the books related to this series! On the criticism side of things I think that they could do better with the drawings in the book. Another point of criticism is that there was too much yelling in the book. Now that I think about it I would give this book, from one to ten, one being the worst, and ten being the best, I would give this book an eight and three fourths out of ten. I hope you liked this report, because this is THE END!!!!!
It’s amazing what adding an actual arc and sense of progress does to a story! If I’m perfectly honest, this is probably actually a 3/5 for me, but I find myself rating on a curve for this series that I generally enjoy less than I want to.
This is one of the better Pokemon Adventures volumes, though. Gold’s beginning to take things more seriously, Silver gets a (strange) backstory, and we get to see the old cast again a year later. The flow of the story is still all over the place (did the King Stone payoff *really* have to happen so quickly?) and some of the battles are still borderline nonsensical, but I actually had a good time reading this volume, so that’s not nothing.
Nine volumes in! Five more to go in my quest to read all of the Pokemon manga that correlate with my love of the franchise as a child. I will stop after the Gold/Silver/Crystal (Gen. 2) editions.
I like this series, I feel like Gold and Silver are both interesting characters and provide a new avenue to direct the plot in the new region of Johto. I feel like the art style is a bit lacking, but still good enough. Additionally, the new Pokemon add to the story (I would assume at this point in the present day that there are so many it doesn’t matter).
I love how these books correspond so well with the games and add unique plot points. It’s like a trip down memory lane.
Silver is becoming more and more interesting with each passing volume. Seeing a peak into his past has got me excited to learn more. And can we talk about mask guy for a second? This series has consistently managed to make bada** villains in every arc. Koga, Sabrina, Surge, Giovanni, Lance and the Elite Four. Every time I see an antagonist in Pokemon Adventures they're always the coolest characters. Definitely the character I'm most interested in going into the next volumes.
Second volume in the Gold and Silver adventures. At the end we get a bit of Silver backstory. Also Gold is giving an egg who hatched into a Togepi but with Gold in charge the little one, Togepi turn into a juvenile delinquent. Togepi and gamblimg, thats a funny combo. I like the battle at Lake of Rage. We also get some news of Red and Blue. Just didn't really get why Red is leaving Pika behind with Yellow...
Finalmente puedo continuar con esta serie. Y me viene gustando.
This was really good but the one thing that wasn't clear was Jasmine... There was an earthquake at Ecruteak City and when it struck, Jasmine appeared to be in the middle of the city and fell through the ground... But then when it jumped back to her later on, she somehow was on one of the top floors of the Tower... Aside from that, I enjoyed it... Red's character development is outstanding... Blue's too for that matter... I like that we finally got more insight into Silver's past...
I do like that they are putting their own twist on Silver who was one of the few rivals in pokemon that while we never knew much about him but he was still pretty unique. Also liked the new character the Masked Woman and the connection they seem to be building with Silver. Also liked that they also show what happened to many of the characters from the Red and Blue arc.
Another volume, and more enjoyable adventures. Gold still a bit precocious for me, but get to see a bit more of Silver, and some good laugh out loud moments in this book especially with race with Whitney. We get to see a bit more of older characters as well, making it more enjoyable.
The ending of this one brought back some characters from the first arc. I may try and get a hold of the third book in the Gold and Silver arc just to see what they do. But I still really don't like these.
Gold is a lot more charming here rather than obnoxious, Silver gets a bit more characterisation, the teams are starting to get more properly built out, and it’s great to be able to see Mato drawing some of the original Dex Holders before Yamamoto takes over.
Druhej díl Gold/Silver ságy je lepší. Děj se víc drží her a hezky vyplňuje nějaká bílá místa (Redova cesta na Mt. Silver). 2,5*
This continues the story laid out in the previous chapter, and developing both of the previously brash characters. Overall it's a solid extension. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues evolving.
That was awesome! I was hooked by the action caused by Team Rocket and the mysterious masked man. Also, Gold is slowly starting to become less annoying compared to the last volume. Really enjoying this part of the series a lot!
