DeAndre is a bad boy with a chip on his shoulder. He’s been through a lot of pain dealing with a drug addicted mother and trying to get her out of the same streets that ruined her. He’s ruthless and doesn’t have a problem making his nine solve his problems... until he meets Oxy and suddenly she gives him a reason to live. Oxy’s father is evil, vindictive, abusive, and the hold he has over her will be her downfall if she doesn’t escape his chains. When DeAndre comes into her life, she doesn’t understand love and it’s hard processing the fact that a man can genuinely care about her. As DeAndre builds her up, it scares her to death. Unable let the demons of her past go, it almost ruins the best thing that ever happened to her. Camden is a local level hustler just making enough to survive. He’s been stuck in a dead end relationship with a woman that is too busy trying to keep up with the joneses to realize that she has a good man. However, after finally being fed up, he finds himself caught up in Kelsey, a beautiful suburban chick that forces him to level up. With pressure on one side to leave the game, and pressure on the other from his ex who feels entitled to his come-up, it’s a recipe for disaster. Dexter Avenue brought them together, but loyalty made them family and it's a rat race to stay above water. However, after a chance meeting with one of the underworld's most infamous queen pins, their lives starts to change for the better... or has it? Catapulted into a viciously rewarding life of sex, money and drugs, everything seems to be coming together. However, success breeds envy. Now, the fight is on and covering deep wounds with band aids proves to only be a temporary fix. What happens when the wound gets too deep? The game gets too risky? Will it cause them to lose everything?
I was trying to think of a super amazing story to share about my life, but as I sat here and thought, I realized that I didn’t have one. I ask myself “How am I going to outdo myself this time?”. My stories are meant to be realistic. I want for you to have a connection to the characters. If you haven’t read a Danielle Marcus book, you’re definitely missing out! My passion has lead me in to helping others fulfill their dreams. This AUTHOR creativity always grab my attention...This STORYLINE was good and entertaining...OXY was courageous and sweet but hard and damage i CAN'T wait to see what happens next OUT FREAKING
Man listen, Oxy pissed me off in the end because she doesn't follow directions well. She should've listened to both Rah and Dre instead of feeling as if she was untouchable. She made a simple mistake because she didn't take things serious enough. I really don't like Abe because he didn't understand the importance of staying low key. Yeah it was a big come up for everybody but at any given moment it could be taken away. I think my favorites so far are Dre and Cam. Although Dre was the craziest there was a side of him that he reserved for those he truly cared about. I can only imagine what it is he'll do after that ending. Cam seems to be a good dude and is determined not to become another statistic of his environment. He's taken into consideration his options and with the help of Kelsey wants better. Tiffany was annoying and should've been glad Cam was still willing to be part of her kids life instead of seeking more because his status changed. As for Kelsey, I hope Cam fixes things before it's too late. Yonni stays doing the most and I am a little curious to know more about Cherish. Overall, I loved this book and can't wait to find out how many bodies will drop and if Pops bitter ass played a role in it.
I loved how everything in this flowed. It told a lot about each character and their come up. Ox went through some things I’m sure none would have expected. Her father was something else. That man thought he was everything and the way he treated her made me mad. Dre was a good dude. He was a little crazy, but he definitely showed a different side at times. Cam met the perfect woman for him. Too bad the crazy chick he used to deal with and the streets may cause that to end. Hopefully they can work things out though. I couldn’t stand Tiff. That chick played a lot of roles. I personally felt like she was just using Cam as a baby sitter. Now she is just being a flat out gold digger. Abe is something else and everyone sees him as a problem besides him. So far everything about this book has been very interesting. It has definitely held my attention and ready for book two!
This book was just ok. I've read a lot of Danielle books, but this was different than any of her books.these characters made to many mistakes if you ask me. Like Ox really thought no one would try her all because of their street status. Abe reminds me of the d-boys who are straving for attention. Dre might be a little hot head but he was very real and protected his loved ones. I like Cam the best because he was the most genuine out of everyone. The only issue with him was tiff trying to cause problem after his come up. She was too bitter for me
This was a really good book. Its a mix between urban fiction with all the hood/drug feel & a hood love story. The characters definitely stand out & make you feel as if you know them & you "see" the plot unfolding. I love the relationship between Ox & Dre and I feel like Cherish is a very important person from Oxs' past. My least favorite people right now are definitely Oxs' dad & Abe. Waiting to see what their fate is. Hopefully part two will come out soon.
Representing Dexter Ave wasn't easy. The gang had the perfect come up w/ Cherish on their side. All those that was involved in Dre's Mom video gonna have to pay. Abe is accident waiting to happen, being flashy and not paying heed to Cherish about Diyonni. Dre and Oxy were Magic!! Kelsey was good for Camden. Tiff had me confused on why she thought Cam owed her something. That ending left me wanting more...Pops..they are coming for your head. Looking forward to next sequel!!
Man Dre is that dude, I want him n ox to be good but dey too much alike stubborn.. in my opinion big homie should been dead but ayy she love her daddy. For sum reason I think cherish is her momma n she jus being where she belong.. Abe swear he dat nigga til he met yonni lol he goin be da cause of dere fall
I just knew something was going to happen to Oxy but I didn't expect that. That's why they you never get too comfortable cause you don't know who lurking. I was so happy when Dre & Oxy finally stopped fooling each other. I hope that Abe doesn't cause their downfall cause they worked too hard to get where they are. Anxiously waiting on part 2!
This book was so good! It held my attention from the beginning to the end. I liked Ox and Dre’s relationship once she stopped fighting her feelings for him. There is no better relationship than being with your best friend. I hope Abe doesn’t cause a downfall for them. Ox dad has to go, how can you treat your own child like that.
This was a drama filled movie from beginning to end! I loved Oxy and Dre’s love story. I wish she would have opened up more to him. Her dad was a liability from the beginning and things just got worse. I cant wait to see what happens in part 2
Oxy 🤦🏾 whhhhy girl whyyyyyy????? This was my kind of story is was so hood but at the same time I wasn't. Attention grabber from start to finish!! Danielle NEVER disappoints me!!! I need book 2 NOOW!!!!
Straight out the door banging with dramedy. I love the friendship that Dre Cam Ox and Abe. I couldn't put this book down I just picked it up this morning had to finish it that's how good it was.
This book was everything you did an amazing job the flow of it was bomb the plot was lit, the way you write is different and I love it 😍 deandre is bae I can’t wait until book 2 because that ending rocked me lol
Dexter street seems like a city in itself. There is a whole lot of stuff going on. Big homie need to die ASAP. These characters were all crazy in their on way. I’m pray for Oxy cause she really needs it. Great job
This book started out a little slow but picked up fast by chapter 3. The Dexter Boyz were about their money and being loyal to the streets. They finally made a name for themselves but of course crap hits the fan. I can’t wait to see what happens next
The characters and story line flowed effortlessly. If you’re looking for a great read, this is the book to read! I’m never disappointed with anything Danielle Marcus touches.
This was a great story! Looking forward to finding out who has Ox? Will she step down out the game after this? Can't wait to find out what happens next!
Loved everything about this book. From the suspense to the thug love. Definitely recommend reading and sharing. The book made you feel like you’re apart of the story
