Carth won the last round, but the game is only beginning.
When the Collector escapes from the prison on Keyall, Carth prepares a daring plan to recapture her, but knows the Collector has already planned for any move she might make.
Discovering what she’s truly after will require an uneasy alliance and leads to a discovery that sends Carth looking into her past to learn how to survive the present.
Summary: Entertaining read, plenty of action and plenty of confusion to keep the reader guessing, but the plot moves on quite rapidly. An interesting premise, I suspect more would have been explained in the predecessor series that I have not read. The heroine is just too perfect for my taste. Book 3 carries on the general theme but shows us that their are new levels to climb presumably in follow on series. I enjoyed the collector series and recommend it.
Plotline: One of those simple but very complex stories as we learn more but can't make much sense of what we learn. Even at the end when all is revealed not all is revealed.
Premise: Interesting premise, it sort of works, I suspect even more to learn
Writing: Simple descriptive, the reader is right their in the action
Ending: Good completion of this series but the door is wide open for a follow on series.
I enjoyed Shadow Trapped. The first 2 books I actually liked better as I was a little frustrated with Carth’s self doubt and indecision, which didn’t fit with who she was in the other books ... but I also understand from the conclusion why that was necessary. Carth is an interesting character and she’s always learning about her powers. I don’t want to give anything away about the story itself.. it’s a good read. If you are majorly irritated by poor editing be warned this book has a lot. It wasn’t a problem for me in understanding the story but that’s just me.
The author leads us further into this world of shadow power and fire power. We discover that life for Carth really is Tsatsun. Only it's not the two player game for life that she expected. Instead she discovers that it is a multi-player game - cast over her life and that of her friends. Really a very good story, but the author spent some much time in her mind trying to unravel all the clues that it lost some of the impact.
I have enjoyed this second series featuring Carthenne Rel. One of the books had quite a lot of errors, but I pushed through, as I was interested in the story. I'm glad that I kept going, as the last book did not have as many errors. Hoping to read more about this heroine's adventures. I liked that this series was not full of romance, etc.
Good series that keeps you wanting to know what’s going to happen next. Only problem I have of this series and the series of before this one with the same main character is that, there are no resolution to them. First series ended with temporary solutions and more problems to come and this series also ended with temporary victory with more problems to come. Am I missing something and does the story continues in different series that I’m not aware of.
This is not a sappy romance...not a romance at all!! ..It is good versus evil and a hero doing her best to protect the helpless and oppressed. D K Holmberg has written another wonderful series. You should give his books a try!
I enjoyed this the most of the 3 books but again it felt unfinished. Both the Shadow Accords and the Collector Chronicles , while good, made me feel like some of the story was missing or unfinished. There is definitely more needed to finish the storyline. Still a good read
I thoroughly enjoyed this series as I have enjoyed everything I have read by D.K. Holmberg. I encourage everyone to find a series and get started. You won't be disappointed.
