From the best-selling Wee Sing series comes a harmoniously fun way to learn about colors! Children learn colors on the farm through music and charming illustrations. A colorful farm shows off its pink pigs, brown horse, black hen, orange pumpkins, red wagon and more. In a simple yet very inviting way, this book teaches children to learn colors by looking at one object of a color, then finding more objects of the same color. The final spread shows the entire farm, encouraging children to find all the colors they have just learned. Each page includes a song about each color---kids will love to sing along!
Pamela Conn Beall was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, with two sisters and a brother. Music was a large part of her childhood, not only within the family, but as she studied voice, piano, and guitar, and sang in numerous select choirs. She graduated from Oregon State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a minor in education. After college she became an elementary school music teacher in the Portland area, taught guitar at the community college, and sang with the Norman Leyden Singers and Portland Symphonic Choir. Pam lives with her husband, Ron, in Lake Oswego, Oregon. They have four adult children.
This book contains all of the basic colors for children to learn/know. Each page is dedicated to one color. Each color gives an example and asks readers to find other objects in the picture with that same color. This book is a farm theme, and in the end it asks the readers to identify all the colors in the farm.
This book is for simple readers, and I love the concept of children pointing out other objects with a certain color. I enjoy the vibrant pictures and farm theme throughout the book. I like at the very end it shows what happens when certain colors mix and what color you'll get.
I would read this book to younger students. I would read the story and see if they point out colors of objects on the page. I would also make sure children know the spelling of the basic colors in the book. I love colors so I would want students to explore those colors and try mixing colors to see that result.
