Very entertaining set of books. Jason Pinter has a good sense of plot, and uses that to keep the reader continually tensed to see how our hero will escape the current threat. The five books essentially read as if they were a separate volume of one book. Although I did not start with the first book, I found that the continuity of the stories are best read in the order Mr. Pinter intended.
Kept me reading for several days, sometimes reading into the night to finish a particular volume. Good plots, well written.
I read though all 5 of these books after reading Pinter’s Rachel Marin series. These books do not disappoint. There were some moments of unevenness but the over all ride was good. I gave him 5 stars mainly because the last book, in which everything culminates, was really good. I couldn’t put it down. I left the books with that feeling of “wow, that was fun”. You can read them independently but I recommend you read them in order.
Henry Parker is not my first choice in heroes or protagonists, but he is the guy that has luck and grit. He is believable, and if you start reading, you will have to continue, just to see how the neck he survived his penchant to follow 'the story' where ever it takes him. Enjoy! I did.
Author gives reader insight into the role of journalism and the mind of a killer
Enjoyed the insight into how newspapers work and their responsibility to their readers. Also thrown into the mix was a psychotic killer. However, as good as the novel was, I couldn’t finish it as the novel seemed to just drag on and on and on. Would have preferred a shorter more concise novel.
Outstanding piece of journalistic prose. It was riveting, realistic and tight on target!
The characters, including the main characters, were realistic, believable, and fit the story line well. The story was not only timely, but showed how characters could be led off track easily based on individual circumstance.
Jason Pinter creates with words. He creates conspiracies, and friendships, and loves, and evil, and monstrous people who put Henry Parker in his created dilemmas from which he creates escapes that leave one breathless. Onward to the next thrilling series!!!
Very good set of books! Loved all the characters even the bad guys! I read all of the Henry Parker books over a week's worth of time. I had to hold myself back from reading instead of working.
I love a little mystery, a little thriller, interesting characters. These books were all of that. I read straight thru, since I’m stuck at home during the COVID -19 pandemic, self isolating.
There were a couple of slower times in a couple of the middle books but all in all its starts with a bang and ends with a BANG! I highly recommend this book for not just great thrilling reading but clean too!
A well edited exciting exploration of a coming of age story and a thriller investigation into a government run drug ring. Plus, it is pro reporting when reporters have been so maligned. We need a free press.
Good character development, somewhat unbelievable storylines.
I liked the main characters. I was seriously disappointed in the glaring grammatical errors -seriously distracting & egregious enough to dislodge the reader from the flow of the story.
The Henry Parker books were thrilling to read. I would have never imagined that such exciting books could be based on a newspaper reporter. The stories and characters kept me completely engrossed in them from book 1 to the end of book 5.
This is a5 stories book. The epic of Henry Parker a new York reporter who remembers the ideals of journalism. Is a high energy story with lots of cheesy lines. I enjoyed it about
Finally, a series that is not over the top with ridiculous plots, and virtually no typos. Some of it dragged out more than necessary, but overall a great read.
I really like this series. I usually don't read all books in a series at the same time but this story and its characters was worth keeping up til the end.
I first read Henry Parker (The Chase?) book as a paperback around 2014? I’d borrowed it from a library I think and I loved it! So when a few years later I saw that there were no 5 in the series and were available as a box set on kindle I jumped at it. But didn’t get around to reading them I recently (a week or two ago) finished all 5 and I have to say I absolutely loved them! Henry Parker is a brilliant character, likeable but has flaws like any human. It was an odd format as one book counted as a “chapter” on my kindle so it was a bit annoying not knowing when I was coming close to the end of an actual chapter as apposed to “time left in book” which meant all 5 books. Thrilling read all 5 books are 5* finished them in under a week as I could not put it down!
