It was supposed to be a one-night stand.
Lex was a muscular bundle of rugged good looks in a crisp, tailored suit. His English accent set me on fire.
I had no idea who he really was.
And I couldn't care less.
It was just another round of the game...
One night in bed, and then we'd be done.
It was the greatest night of my life.
But then he saved me.
And one night turned into more..
Legions of fans chant his name everywhere he goes.
But I'm the one he wants to hear begging for more.
I just slept with a world-class player, and hardened skilled athletes don't like to lose the game...

PLAYED is a full standalone romance novel with a HEA and absolutely NO
CLIFFHANGER.

I'm so mad, I lost my review before I could hit publish. So this is going to be a condensed version.
I read this one because it was included in the apparently omnibus version of Running Game by Nikki Wild that I have... since my god there are at least 3 more books in this version, and every time I am finishing a book in this, I just happen to be on the bus and can't be bothered trying to figure out what to read next.

I didn't like Riley. Right off the bat, I didn't like here. "British guy in the bar? Oh I need to have some of that." Not even caring if he was single etc. Just that he was British. *eyeroll*
And when he flat out said "you could look me up to know my past", did she? No. So then she got alllll butt hurt because she didn't know that he was a manwhore.
She learned how to paint watching Bob Ross on PBS. Don't get me wrong, I love Bob Ross and all he did for us.... but since her style still matches that, there is no way her work would be in "several galleries and museums allllll over the country" as well as earning her enough money to support herself. Not without having someone like Gloria Van Lark in her life many many years before. Which didn't happen.

Lex.... was a manwhore, not a bad boy. He was practically a saint when it came down to it.
Also, where the hell does he live if he was in 3 hours of traffic coming from Heathrow? 3 hours would have gotten him to bloody Manchester, which if that were the case, he would have flown to Manchester, not Heathrow. Soo apparently the author thinks there is only one airport in all of the UK.

The villains were very one dimensional. All of them.

I didn't want to throw the book across the room, but it was definitely lacking.

3 Stars: Kindle Unlimited Read
It has many redeeming qualities. The characters were likable at best neutral at worst. The writing was much better than expected. I developed an interest that withstood to the end. The plot was nice, somewhat original or had its own unique flair. The writing was good, and the pretense wasn’t half bad, the romance was simmering with few exceptions. The male/female lead showed hints of abuse both verbal and/or physical or signs of spot-on or forced chemistry. It was a tiny bit predictable. Overall, liked it enough, entertaining.

What a great read plus bonus stories

I loved this story. The details, the characters, the events were so vivid. I am already wanting to go back and read it again. The story did include 3 bonus stories. Was a stand alone story.
Overview. Riley (girl) was a painter. She has been down on herself for not doing her best in her painting. The pictures all look great but she thinks the magic is missing. So her 2 friends tell her to go to the bar with them and check out the British guy who has been there all week drinking. Riley decides to go in hopes that a quick fling could spark her magic and bring her painting to life. Riley walks in to the bar and notices Lex (lightning Alexander Lambert) as a gorgeous guy, but not the rich and popular soccer player. Lex is impressed with Riley's demanding and fun personality. They it it off. Soon Lex was seeing a change in himself. But thing crash down when Riley finds out who he really is. Can Riley except him for who he really is? Can Lex make a decision between love and his career?

Its Nikki wild, nuff said

Any time you get a Nikki Wild romance you are getting a fun heartwarming story with plenty of hot action. But you also get something more. You get what Nikki puts into each book as a thank you to her readers. She adds extra stories, links to ARC giveaways, teasers to upcoming releases and more. Plus you can always count on her to share the spotlight. She often has a guest author include one or more stories and they are always quality! I never hesitate when I see a new Nikki Wild release because I never know what to expect. I just know that I'm gonna love it. // side note, I did not receive an ARC , this is my honest opinion, and I do not personally know Ms Wild or any of this books guest authors. I left this review on the author instead of the story because I felt that she is a much more driving force to check out the book than the singular synopsis of an individual story within said book. Played is an incredible story that I couldn't put down once I started reading.
Lex is a famous British football star , a man whore . I'll be honest, I didn't liked his arrogance much at first but he grew more and more on me. Once he went to America to lay low and met Riley ,a painter, he really did change and it was for the better. Their meeting is like destiny...the right guy for her and the right girl for him. The more time he got to know her, the more he fell for her and the sparks that fly between these two are electric .
The writing is incredible with a fantastic plot, twists and turns and lots of scorching smoking sex ,the characters were realistic and lovable so what more can you ask for?
Highly recommended because this is one of Nikki Wild's best books I read so far .

Riley Ricketts is an up and coming artist. Lex Lambert is a famous British soccer star. Lex is in New Orleans to get away from the tabloids, and stay out of trouble. Riley, who has a thing for Englishmen, meets Lex in a bar. One thing leads to another and the two are soon engaged in a hot steamy affair. Lex ends up returning to England broken hearted when Riley discovers how much of a player he is in Europe. Riley receives the offer of a lifetime, but finds out the cost is more than she is willing to pay. Wow, sizzling hot and sexy with characters that will have ups and downs, but find love and happiness in the end.

I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book was quick and intriguing from the start. Lex is a sports god and a man whore. Lex wants a prized sports contract but his playboy reputation puts his dream in jeopardy. Riley is an accomplished artist just waiting to explode in the art community. When their paths cross it is instantaneous fireworks neither were expecting. Their relationship is hot from the beginning. Lex is hot sexy foreign man meat. As the story evolves, Nikki Wild gives the characters depth. Both have baggage. Both have loyal friends. This story has depth. She is able to encompass secondary characters and make this book so much more. If you want a feel good bad boy romance, this is it.

I received this as an arc for my honest review: I absolutely loved this book it was absolutely amazing. I loved the characters. I liked knowing that Riley didn't know who Alexander "Lex" Lambert was at first because it brings those two characters together without the whole I'm a billionaire I get what I want when I want thing. They had to get to know each other. They were learning things about one another through out most of the book. I liked it because there wasn't this whole dominant thing which I'm used to reading and it's nice to read something different every once in awhile.

I really enjoyed this book, started first thing in the morning and a couple of hours later I had finished, just couldn't put down. The chemistry between lex and Riley made the story flow from start to finish, just couldn't wait to see what would happen between the two.

I didn't finish this book. I myself am an anglophile and love everything British. Lived in Manchester for almost 2 years and visit London multiple times since moving back to the States. I did not find Lex very British. I normally can't put a book down when it has something to do with a British guy but this book I just kept asking myself if it was over yet. I couldn't do it anymore and had to give up. Sorry, bad book for me.

This book Played gets a 3 only because of the story itself. A few of the romance scenes were cut off from finishing & that's one thing I HATE the most. But I LOVED the story so much it got an additional star. I loved how Riley finally got justice for being placed in foster care when there really wasn't a reason to be there. All she really wanted was to be loved for who she was, flaws & genius talent in all.

Meh... The book seemed rushed to me. Too much sex and not enough substance. I didn't really feel that the characters were fully developed. They were just there and I didn't really like any of them. I did, however, kind of like the storyline with the curator. That too was rushed. The ideas are good, but the organization and execution need work.

While I did enjoy this story, I would not consider the Lex to be a "bad boy" just a manwhore. Compared to other "bad boy" romance novels I have read, Lex looks more like a saint than anything. The story read quickly, not really allowing for the read to grow attached to the characters to feel for them.

I love both Lex and Riley. He's the playboy turned straight. But he never seen her coming. Such a charming story this was. Morally enjoyed reading it from the beginning to end. I love a story like this. Starts out rough keeps you wondering what direction it's going to go. And as your reading it you build up so many emotions to go along other than story. Glad I got to read it

3 1/2 stars

This was a solid story with developed characters. Lex was cocky but he wasn't over the top and his good outweighed his bad. He was used to getting what he wanted, but Riley was a firecracker and put him in his place. The romance was believable and both characters made sacrifices to be with each other which made me enjoy this story even more.

Not bad

I don't usually read rocker books because it's always the same with them being cheaters. But this one was not the case. I thought it e good book. A girl with partial memory and a rocker.

I received an ARC for an honest review. Lex wanted to go incognito in America to tone down his world renowned manwhore antics. He did not anticipate meeting in New Orleans a girl who loved all things Brit! Let the fun begin!

"4 out of 5 stars! Lex (Alexander) is a world-class football (soccer) player who’s taking a break in New Orleans so he can “overcome” his playboy reputation in hopes of landing a multi-million dollar corporate sponsorship. What Lex finds instead is, Riley, a woman who pushes all his buttons while revving him up at the same time. She is possibly the one woman for him that is if he can prove himself to her, that staying together is the right thing to do.

I truly liked this novella. It has substance, a great plotline, and meaningful characters. I enjoyed..."
