Dr. Nandita Shah claims that with a vegan diet made from organic produce, it is possible to get rid of not only diabetes but also lifestyle diseases like high cholesterol and avoid kidney, liver diseases. That is the key idea of this book.
While I already avoid processed food, have cut down on sugar and caffeine a lot, and follow the rule of early and sufficient sleep and regular exercise, as a (vegetarian) foodie I will not be switching over to veganism as of now. For me, the recent focus on consulting with a dietician has been to make sure each meal has sufficient proteins and a little amount of fat as well. And I will be sticking to that for now.
But, for me the key takeaway from this book is to minimise cooking oil, and switch to organic products as much as possible.
P.S.:- If you are interested in the idea, the author has provided recipes and a lot of tools to help you with a smooth transition.
