Rate this book
Brianne and Alayna have been lied to their entire lives.

Stripped of their memories, separated, and hidden in the human realm, the faeling sisters have no idea who they really are.

That is, until an unexpected visit by a strange little man sets them on a road to discovery. According to an ancient prophecy, Brianne and Alayna, beloved princesses of the Seelie Court, are the keys to saving the faerie realm from the Unseelie Court. Summoned by their grandmother, Queen Mab, to fulfill their destiny, they must first unite to find a stolen treasure that protects their kingdom -- The Dagda’s Cauldron.

As they battle their way through the faerie realm, Brianne and Alayna uncover their past and get a glimpse of their future. But learning the truth comes with a price that just might cost them their lives. And if they don't find the cauldron in time, and the realm falls into the hands of the Unseelie Court, their lives won't be the worst thing they lose.

Filled with trolls, nymphs, and all manner of fae, The Dagda’s Cauldron is a fantastical journey navigating family relationships and self-discovery.

Wow. This book is wonderfully written, and really connects the audience with the characters. I absolutely love fantasy and science fiction, and fae stories are some of my favourites!
This story follows Brianne, a 17 year old who lives alone with her Mum, following the tragic death of her sister, Livvie.
One day, Brianne is feeling *rebellious* and sneaks out to a concert with her best friends, and has heaps of fun! She even caught the attention of her favourite member of the band, but was then interrupted by a fire on stage. Brianne is a bit confused, but brushes it off, it was a cool ending to a cool night. Or so she thought.
When she returns home to find a two weirdly small men, one of which is talking with her mother, and one claiming to be her best friend, the adventure begins!
I honestly love the ‘missing pieces’ type stories, and this one has two! (Two seperate sets of missing pieces - confusing? - I’ll explain) Brianne, while on a quest set by her magical queen grandmother to find a stolen protected of the Seelie court, (missing piece 1) finds that there will be a war in the near future, and she has to find all of her 5 sisters, to combine all their powers to create a unstoppable force!! (Missing piece 2)

I know I rambled A LOT in this review, and it probably doesn’t make much sense unless you read it, (which you should) but I just want to say thank you so much to the author because this book was amazing! Ugh, I wish I knew a stronger word than amazing to describe this book, but it’s all I got! Thanks!

This is a well written book that keeps you engaged throughout the story. M.C. Cairns opens book 1 with a pleasant plot leaving lots of room for expansion in future novels. I would suggest this book to readers new to fantasy and younger readers as it portrays a light reflection into a world we all love to fall into.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was really cute! The story starts with Brianne, a young girl whose sister has recently died and her mom and dad have split up. She finds out that she’s actually adopted and her birth mother happens to be a fairy. Not just any fairy though, she’s royalty. There’s a prophecy about Brianne and her 5 sisters and the first book is the beginning of the journey towards that prophecy. In this book, Brianne meets one of her sisters, Alayna, and another fairy, Mack, who knows more about Brianne’s history than Brianne. I can’t wait for book 2 to find out what happens next!!!

A lot of times I get asked recommendations for good fantasy reads for not old enough readers and this is my new go to. Great for readers starting to delve into the series and if you worry about the long daunting novels like some series (game of thrones you are great but so meaty!) you won’t worry about it with this plus I love a book that sets you up to be pumped about future ones! Can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment!!
