Four months ago, a pretty young marathoner disappeared while training on the isolated trails of Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The police have few leads, no witnesses and no results. As a last resort, they call in private investigator Lacey Fitzpatrick and Navajo medium Sam Firecloud to pick up the rapidly cooling trail. Sam and Lacey, however, are on the outs. Their efforts to take their relationship to the next level failed miserably, and now they must redefine their working relationship, as well. Can they find the murdered girl and her killer, and still hang on to their partnership?

Sam and Lacey. I was really happy to find out that the couple took a step back in this book. Lacey has moved out and they are still figuring things out. And that's ok. They are back at work on a case involving a missing woman. I had no idea how or were the dragon from the title would come in but Melissa Bowersock does it and does it well. There is a lot of symbolism in this story and i enjoyed that very much. I liked this one a lot more than i did the previous and can't wait to find out what happens next in Demon Walk. Ohh! That's going to be fun. Thank you to Melissa Bowersock for the opportunity to listen and review this audio book.
After an attempt to bridge their business relationship to a personal one and failing, Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud aren’t doing much of anything together. Until the police have a missing persons case they haven’t been able to solve in four months. As a last resort they call in Lacey and Sam to see if Sam can sense the woman who the police are fairly certain is dead. Lacey gets on her part of the research and Sam does his walk, but things aren’t as easy as they once were. But there’s a girl out there that needs their special skills so they forge ahead to a satisfactory conclusion.
I’ll admit I’m bummed about the relationship failing, but I can’t say I’m surprised. Lacey has some serious baggage. I am glad they sucked it up and got straight to work on finding that poor missing girl. The writing is crisp and flows quickly. Before I knew it I was done. The mystery is great and I love the characters. The ending is satisfying. Two thumbs up.
Well, really. There I was, in full mourning mode, after reading what I thought was the last Lacey and Sam book, when up pops number five! Quite threw me off kilter…ah, but was I glad. It seems the Lacey and Sam fan club just would not let them rest after their fourth mystery, so thank goodness for an author who listens. Cue Book 5 which sees our spirit hunters trying to solve a case that’s dumbfounded the police.
A young marathon runner disappears suddenly on a regular morning run. All paths lead to either an ex-boyfriend or her current abusive one. It rests on Lacey and Sam to see if they can pick up any trails the police couldn’t.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t dying to find out how their relationship was panning out…we saw it get to a very satisfying level by the end of Book 4. So I really needed to find out if was all wine and roses. And the answer is: yes, I did find out.
This book is a good 100-150 pages shorter than its predecessors. But fans, never fear…Lacey and Sam are not lying low just yet. A sixth mystery is imminent. And that, is very good news.
Seriously, dragons? Madison McClure, a twenty-six year old female jogger, disappeared four months ago while jogging in Griffith Park. The police have no leads or clues to follow and the case is growing cold. Maddie’s desperate parents, Esther and Randall McClure, want to call in Sam Firecloud and Lacey Fitzpatrick. Luckily the chief of police agrees to contact them as long as their investigation remains off the record.
While interviewing Esther and Randall, Lacey and Sam learn that Esther is an artist. When Maddie was young Esther would often throw a blanket over the back of her easel to make a magical cave for Maddie to play in while she painted. When Maddie grew up she was fascinated with dragons and channeled her artistic abilities into making intricate jewelry incorporating dragons from silver and gold. She was also half owner in a boutique jewelry store named Dragon’s Den in Los Feliz with Vanessa Medina, another artist friend with similar interests.
With mixed signals at every turn and the vast area around Griffith Park, even Sam and Lacey are confused. After pinpointing a direction to focus their search, again things start looking dim. The twists and turns of the plot are captivating and enthralling. The ending will leave your jaw dragging the ground and the emotions will leave you overwhelmed. This is a tough one to wrap your head around. Well done, Ms. Bowersock.
I should also comment on Lacey and Sam’s relationship. Things are a little rocky at first, but they seem to be negotiating their situation with a lot of thought. The ball is in Lacey’s court and she decides to make her amends with Sam’s kids while she puts Sam on the back burner. He’s not going anywhere soon, their business partnership is too important to both of them. I want to thank everyone who pushed Ms. Bowersock to continue this series.
FYI: “Dragon Walk” is book five in A LACEY FITZPATRICK and SAM FIRECLOUD MYSTERY SERIES. Each of these mysteries can be read as a standalone if you choose. However, I am enjoying the relationship developing between Lacey and Sam, so I would recommend reading from the beginning to get the full benefit of their storyline. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** January 15, 2018 Format/Typo Issues: None to mention.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
This is the fifth book in the Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud mystery series. Each of the five books is a standalone book with no cliffhanger ending and can be read without having read any of the prior books in the series. Having said that [or written it], the two main characters, Lacey and Sam, have developed quite a bit since the first book in the series and so has their relationship with each other. These two main characters are very likeable and interesting so I have really enjoyed learning about them in an organic way. Additionally, I like the interesting way that Sam's talents come into play with each book and learning, along with Lacey, how these talents best fit into the investigation. So, I would highly recommend that you start with the first book in this series.
This well written book [#5] is a very quick read. The focus of the mystery is the disappearance of a runner who has led a somewhat tragic life making each one of her relations a suspect. In addition, Sam and Lacey have hit a bit of a speed bump in their relationship, which seemed very realistic and authentic. Although I figured out the culprit early on, I still enjoyed the investigation and the reveal.
The narrator, Laura Wilson, is perfect for this series.
I thought this story was really heart breaking, Corey really loved Maddie, as shown by the dragon he made for her. I was really glad that the people in his lives took care of his mum so well. I was really sad to read that Sam and Lacey were taking a break, I'm a complete romantic and always want things to work out with my favourite characters. Life is never easy and there will always be problems in a relationship, but we can hope that with the right person, everything is easier. I really hope they get everything worked out.
Really enjoying this series and already have the next one - am aiming to read them all by the end of June. Well it is still lockdown! Would love to meet Sam and Lacey in real life - believable characters make the books fascinating and would call them to help me any time. Can't wait to see what happens next.
A marathon runner dissapears and Sam and Lacey are called in hopes of finding her.Another great book with this team!Laura Wilson was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
"Dragon Walk" sees Lacey Fitzpatrick recovering after being shot in the arm. She's moved in with Sam Firecloud but his attentive care has driven her up the walls, and she's gone back to her own apartment. There is something of a rift between them as a result. I quite like the slow burn approach to romance in the series - it's quite nice not to be sure what will happen next. Sam is certain that he wants Lacey in his life, but she, wounded by a previous relationship, is reluctant to trust. But their investigative work continues as they try to find out what happened to a young woman who went missing while jogging in Griffith Park some months earlier. She vanished without a trace, leaving no evidence and no clues. The mystery is solved through a combination of their abilities but, outside of the rather forced discovery of the body in a strange location, it didn't really interest me all that much. The Author, Melissa Bowersock, seems incapable of writing a bad book and I have been binge reading the series - seven books in two days. 4 Stars.
Well! I was not pleased that Sam and Lacey are taking a break. I loved how Lacey explained their situation to the kids. A separation between two people, for whatever reason, is always difficult for children. I was glad to read that Sam and Lacey were able to solve a case together and find some kind of compromise as to where their relationship may be headed. This story did not have much ghost involvement but it was still a great read.
This booky felt choppy & a bit forced at times. Issues with Sam & Lacy are not really explained & there was a big jump between books in their relationship. Lacy's actions & words seem a bit chaotic at times in regards to this. Some of the characters seemed extreme or unrealistic. The mystery was ok but pretty predictable. The way it was resolved was interesting though. Probably try reading the next one and see if the writing improves there.
This is Book 5 in the Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud series. I like that the books are all mysteries, but the stories are different. This book picks up about a month after the previous one, and it progresses the story of Lacey and Sam and their efforts as investigators. I am enjoying the series, they’re quick, easy reads, and I like the characters. I am looking forward to reading more books in the series, and I highly recommend them.
I have skipped this through 8. Why? Because I hate the will they won’t they crap! After reading reviews it looks like they break up then get back together in book 8. I am an adult I do not need the extra drama. I believe I can pick up this series in book 8, because they move back in together and then book 9 are married. That’s my pacing. If you love someone in book 4, then book 5 yall go back to your own places, not for me. Hopefully this time they will stay together!!

As I finished Dragon Walk I realized how much I am enjoying these books. Kudos to the author for creating such interesting characters and storylines. I look forward to the next book in the series, hope I peaked your interest and you dive in for marvelous adventures.
Just a fun book to read little heavy, but not too heavy actually it’s pretty light. I like the continuing stories and I like it that I get it on Kindle unlimited so that way I can read all the books if I had to buy each one of these books. I probably would not be buying each one of these series, but because I’m getting it in the unlimited, I will read all of them.
Really enjoyed this new murder Sam and Lacey are called upon to solve. Glad they are getting recognition from their community on helping solve cases. Enjoy the interaction of all the characters and the intriguing plot.
The last book of the series I read was in 2019, so I was a little lost on the relationship aspect of the MCs. I forgot about the moving out drama. Anyway, it wasn't hard to start back into the series. Interesting story.👍🏻Moving on to the next one...
This story was nothing like I thought it would be, it was so much better. It is not just about the mystery but about human emotions and the choices that are sometimes made because of them. It is about how point of views can sometimes fall in gray areas.
A missing woman, the police are at a standstill. Lacey and Sam are hired to try to locate the missing woman. I am enjoying this series and looking forward to the next book.
