The Heart That Breaks

Rate this book
They come from completely different lives. . .Ann-Elizabeth Casteel grew up knowing her limitations and that her Nashville dreams are very likely way bigger than her ability to ever make them come true. But at seventeen, she loves her imperfect mother and her dog Henry with a heart that sees the best in both of them. Ann-Elizabeth is perfectly happy with their less than affluent life until her mom's new boyfriend Lance moves in and threatens to destroy it all. Determined to hold onto what she holds most dear, Ann-Elizabeth struggles to keep it all together until she can graduate from high school and head to Nashville to make a life of her own. But when up and coming songwriter Nathan Hanson strikes up a conversation with her in their senior Lit class one afternoon, Ann-Elizabeth knows full well the foolishness of adding something else to her life that she will never be able to keep. But Nathan will show her it's only the heart that breaks that can fully know the absolute necessity of love. And that it is only love that makes life worth fighting for. ***★★★★★ Straight to the heart. Every book has deep meaning. Pulls you in and takes you to places that it straight to the heart. Inglath Cooper

Virginia author Inglath Cooper fell in love with reading as a little girl, devouring most of the books in her elementary school library. At some point, she decided she wanted to pursue a writing career, creating romance fiction that did for others what her favorite books have done for her. “I love character-driven books that leave me feeling as if I’ve really known these people and make me wish I didn’t have to turn the last page.”

“Romance fiction has always appealed to me because it deals with so many of the relationships in a woman’s life. Not only the love of her life, but often her relationship with her mother, sister or best friend. Romance authors have so much room to explore many of the meaningful moments and transitions in women’s lives. And who doesn’t love a good love story?”

Inglath most often writes stories about love and life that are set in small Virginia towns like the one where she grew up. “I like to think the flavor of my hometown shows up in my books both in their setting and through the characters who people it.”

When aspiring writers ask her how to be an author, she says, “Everything I know about writing books I learned from reading books.”

Inglath has been chosen as a RITA® Award winner for best long contemporary romance novel given out each year by Romance Writers of America. Her books are available through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, itunes.com, and Kobobooks.com.

Outside of writing, Inglath is actively involved in dog rescue, working with The Franklin County Humane Society to place dogs and cats in need of rehoming. She volunteers her time in every capacity possible: serving on the Board of Directors, fundraising, photographing dogs and cats available for adoption and serving as a foster home. “Helping an abused or neglected dog go on to have a wonderful life with a family who loves them is more rewarding than I can possibly say.”

Amazing start....

I really loved the this start to something that could be great!!
I need the next book like yesterday.....hopefully not a long wait. My only wish is that it would of been a longer book and read. Inglath reels you in and then you have to wait is my only disappointment.

Teen romance

This story would have benefited from more substance around the young girl's potential as a singer. That would have made it more believable towards the end when she and her Mom were welcomed into a superstar's home. And, more hopeful to young readers left thinking that her young boyfriend was her sole saviour.

This is a set story showing the worth I approve whether they are it or not. Prejudice nd abuse have no place in our society but they exist. A story of hope and tnhe human heart

Great Simple read. I love books that are not too long but also keep you very involved and interested until the end. This was one of those books. I really loved it. I’m curious if there is another book in the series or if this is just a standalone. But regardless I highly recommend it.

Enjoyable quick read story!

OK It took me a couple of chapters to remember I was reading about a high school romance. And then it took me another couple of chapters to realize I was crying!! All in all a good book for the soul. ENJOY!!

A Real Life Heart Warmer!

This book was an easy read, but with a lot of substance. Could be a true story about wife and step child being abused by a drunk live-in that the Mother finally decides her child is more important than love.

Young Love from Unexpected Boy

Incredibly well done with a story about finding love for a young woman who thinks she’s worthless. It reminds me of my first love and how it feels to find someone who loves you.

This book is so so good!

My ONLY criticism of this book is that it was way to short! I want the rest of the story! I couldn’t believe it was over - She must write a sequel!

This writer is so good! I hope there is a sequel to this. I would like to see how their band works out and what happens to them. Love it when I read a good book!

Ok

This book started off great but the ending fell flat. A little disappointed. I normally like the authors books but this wasn’t the best.

A story of strength

It's a great story of young love that you hope can and will endure the test of time. There is also the strength and weakness of parents along with the struggle s of life.

I really liked this book. I hope there is more to Ann Elizabeth's story and hope the author writes a sequel.

I love her writing style and her characters. Most of her books center around a music theme and even though country is one of my least favorite music genres, her stories always suck me in.
