Peyton Gloss is the world’s most famous and popular singer & songwriter, known for her chart-topping hits as well as her famous girl squad and July 4th events, inviting all of her famous friends to celebrate. This year, she did something even more extravagant than ever, and invited her friends to join her for a week-long adult summer camp experience.

Mackenzie Smyth was dared to audition for a TV show. Thinking she had no chance of getting the part, she went along with it. Five years later, she’s one of the most popular young actresses in Hollywood. She’s also socially awkward and struggles with getting to know new people and spending time with her peers.

Lennox Owen is Hollywood royalty and has been famous since birth. She’s remained in the business because she didn’t know what else, if anything, she could do, and because it was what was expected of her.

When Lennox and Kenzie meet, there’s electricity between them. And the camp is the perfect opportunity for them to explore what might be. But after the magic of their week away from the world dissipates, can they still find that spark and make their relationship work?

I'm at a loss of words. Okay, that's a lie because I'm typing a review.

I. EFFING. LOVE. THIS.

I must type faster before the post-reading-amazing-story melancholy descends upon me because once I finished this masterpiece, my extreme elation battled with the sense of finality.

Nicole Pyland, you have a new follower. And, in the most complimentary way possible, I could tell you used to be a (very skilled) fanfic writer. Why? Because you know how to service the reader. You've given even everything into their story into an epic story of a wonderful length. I could sing thank you and play it on a loop for you. That's my love song to you for this love story to me. Okay, I'm being sappy and weird.

Characters, plot, setting, drama (killed me!), sensuality, feel-good moments, laughs. It had it all. It's been a while where I felt so nervous that the fluffy moment would end too soon (happens a lot in lesfic), but no, she spoils us, truly. I can see how this kind of immersion into total romance/declaration of feelings would repel some readers. But, as a fic lover such as myself, it's something I crave in the published world. Sometimes, a girl just wants to wade in romantic feels. Thank you again for making the crossover!

Are the main characters, Lennox and Kenzie (awesome names), gorgeous, talented feminine actresses? Yes, but they're so much more than that. Little by little, we get more sides of their personalities and insecurities. We see it early for Kenzie, as she's on the autism spectrum, which is AMAZING. I haven't read enough of that in lesbian romances. Everyone doesn't have to be neurotypical for it to be astounding. And yes, it is.

The sparks fly early between the two mains. Though, it doesn't immediately end up in bed where we never revisit what they have in common. They have ups and downs, questions, and tons of conversation. Lennox's character may have blossomed into a wonderfully queer character, but we explore this without stamping her with a label. On that note, her character makes me swoon and I'd definitely would stan her if she were real. Hell, Kenzie, too. LenZie ftw!

The required drama made since and it still gave me major anxiety. I needed LenZie to be happy always. Falling head over heels for their relationship is the best. The ending put me six feet under because ROMANTIC. Love, love I'm in love.

Did I mention sex? THERE'S SEX. A very handsome amount. Mmm.

I am just drunk. And sadly, being book drunk isn't serving the most convincing review. And I don't really mind. This is actually more of me expressing myself than persuading others. Pyland deserves to have some super gushy posts like this. Please keep writing forever!

Five stars, if it's not obvious enough.

It's one of those books where u love it or hate it. I really liked it though but I can totally understand why people might not!
So if ur looking for something light, fun, steamy and romantic go for it! It's the kind of book that makes u have a smile on ur face all the time but yet you know you can't believe it as well because it's so far fetched! But then again who cares if you have that smile on ur face anyways :)
Pure entertainment!

After having read the first two books in the author's "Chicago" series and developing a bit of an author crush I decided to give this book a try while waiting for the release of Love Walked into The Lantern.

I'm glad I did because once again she did a great job writing this. I found myself really liking the main characters and a few of the many secondary characters. Luckily you won't need to remember all of them because there are about 20+ of them throughout the book!

The strange thing about this book is that it's insta-love and at the same time it doesn't feel that way. How do you get two people to fall in love after only 1 week of being together yet make it feel like the relationship has been going on far longer than that? Talented writing I guess. I really liked the interactions between Lennox and Kenzie, mainly because Kenzie experiences emotions slightly different than the average person does. It made for a very interesting read.

This book is a very nice mix of some really sweet moments but at the same time keeps you very aware of the attraction between Lennox and Kenzie. Even during what is possibly the worst softball game ever they still manage to somehow gravitate towards each other. Though I wouldn't call this book funny there are a few chuckle worthy moments within it.

One of the things that I didn't like and that kept nagging in the back of my mind was the whole summer camp for adults idea. I mean so many celebrities together for a whole week without any work allowed? In what universe is that feasible? The other thing regarding this set up was even though Lennox is 31 and Kenzie is 26, they felt a lot younger. In fact the whole book had a NA feel to it, which is not a bad thing but to me their actions don't line up with their supposed age very well.

I enjoyed this book a lot except for possibly the last 1/4 because that's when drama, angst and terrible communication comes in to play but it's not like I wasn't expecting that to occur. Overall ends with a 3,75* rating.

3.5 stars. An easygoing celebrity romance novel. This was the first book by Pyland that I read and I enjoyed the writing style, but there were some story choices that took away some of the grading.

As this was the first Pyland novel I read I did not know any of the characters (I also did not notice this was the second book in a series until I was already well underway). I understood that many of the characters are described in other books, so I guess people who know all the books could get more out of this than I did. The book is set at an adult summer camp organized by Peyton Gloss (starring in book 1). Peyton invited all her celebrity friends for a week of holiday fun and no work allowed. Clearly, you should not think too hard about this as it seems silly and unbelievable to me, to have all these celebrities taking the same week off and not working at all. Furthermore, Peyton was a bit of a drill master with scheduled entertainment (something I would find horrifying, not holiday fun), but apparently this is part of her personality and everybody went along with this. At the summer camp actresses Lennox (presumed straight, even by herself) and Kenzie (closeted) meet, and Kenzie has had a lifetime celebrity crush on Lennox.

First of all, yes, a couple that communicates! And that while one of the two (Kenzie) has borderline Asperger’s syndrome, which generally complicates communication. I don’t know much about Asperger’s so I have no idea as to how accurate the description is, but I found it interesting to read about this. While being discussed, I still wondered how this works in combination with being an actress, this combination seems so unnatural, but as I said, I have no knowledge here.

There is a bit of insta-love between Lennox and Kenzie, but it doesn’t really feel that way, as they decide to take things slow and I enjoyed their growing relationship. The relationship was thriving on their excellent communication, but then…. somewhere at the 80% mark, there had to be a classic drama moment, which is not bad in itself, but they completely stopped communicating, which felt very out of character and was frustrating to me.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book and can recommend it as a relatively light and sweet romance and I will be reading more by this author.

I tried guys, I tried so hard to get into it, but at 50% it was just too tedious and I gave up. For one, the adult summer camp is basically my worst nightmare, so it started off on the wrong foot. All the lovey-dovey "let's talk about every one of our feelings in this rowboat/cabana/cabin/patch of grass for the upteenth time" just isn't realistic. It reads like a YA, and if the characters were 17 then great, but they are 27 and 31. I was hoping they'd get out of the godawful camp before I gave up but no. Mega editing was needed.

I have read others by this author that were decent but unfortunately this one just didn't work.

I would like to thank Sprinkles for her terrific review of this and recommendation. I would have most likely gotten to this one eventually, but with her review, I just had to push it up the pile.

This is my second Pyland novel and really her writing is phenomenal. I cannot think of an another author who can develop and build characters like she can. They are just so real and human, you cannot help but love them and route for their happy ending.

The first half of this book was a solid 5 stars. It was just so swoony and deliciously romantic. And the sex...omg the sex! The first sex scene was literally 15 pages. I'm not shitting you people! 15 PAGES!

The 2nd half of the book was 3 stars, for me anyway. It was way angsty. Though not unbelievable angst, thankfully. And I was glad for the happy ending(of course a happy ending! This is romantic lesfic after all).

Btw, one thing I'm noticing with Pyland is that her cast of characters are all leggy, beautiful women in a height range between 5'9" to 6'1". Being a very statuesque 5'3", I would like to know where I can find all these tall, lesbian beauties!!

DNF. Too bad really because one of the MC's was particularly unique in that she was borderline autistic. And I've not ever seen that before. Too much bad feels and drama, started page flipping in the 80% range and just gave up.

This is second in a series, though it was published first. I recommend reading the other first because a lot of the background with Dani and Peyton is more interesting knowing their actual story.

This is similar to the first in that it includes a strong insta-love foundation, though only one of the main characters starts off straight this time. It's also stronger characterization with Lennox being so much more outgoing than Kenzie. I liked that Lennox had her own insecurities, though, and that Kenzie had her own strengths as well. I'm not sure I buy Kenzie as being on the autism spectrum, though she says it's only mildly. It didn't quite ring true to me. That said, it didn't matter so much the cause of her idiosyncrasies because I found her interesting both as a character and as a romantic interest. I particularly liked how well an introvert worked as an actress and how she knew and acknowledged that she had a bigger need for alone time than her co-workers often did and her struggles with how that singles her out.

Anyway, the wish-fulfillment elements of this were ramped to eleven and the insta-love makes that a double helping so it's not going to be for everybody. It also has not one, but two whole dark moments and that consternated me a bit. Neither one were the abusive, relationship-betrayal that normally constitutes a dark moment so at least there's that. And while I didn't like the communication break-down, it all held together and made sense as these two found their way to a stronger foundation. I think some of the instigating antagonism was a bit magnified (I've never been a famous person who came out as gay, but I have to think that there's at least some support among the bigoted vilification), but if I translate that in my head as how they perceive it (as the bigots would stand out, I'm thinking) it worked fine. Probably.

Anyway, this comes out at 4½ stars that I'm rounding down for the double-whammy. Did they both have to do pretty much the same withdrawal? Maybe, but it pushed me out of the story some.

A note about Steamy: There are four or five explicit sex scenes in the story edging this into the higher side of my steam tolerance. It doesn't help that some of it was completely gratuitous that I skipped entirely. That said, the first one or two were very well-done and very well-integrated into the characters and their emotional/intimate arc.

I love a good celeb trope and was looking forward to this one. And for the most part, it delivered.
This was my first read of a Nicole Pyland book and while I found that she tells a good story, it could have used some better editing. At the end of sentences of dialogue, it would end with "...Peyton delivered." Or "...Kenzie returned" (both meaning "replied.") This happened so often that it became distracting, which is sad because all she needed was to say, "Kenzie said" and it would have been much improved.
But let's talk about what she did very right. The romance. Wow. She REALLY captured beautifully the feeling of when two souls reconnect - which is how I saw both of these main characters in Mackenzie Smyth and Lennox Owen. The minute they locked eyes they were drawn to one another like an unstoppable force. I loved how they got to know one another over their week-long friends summer camp and how wonderfully supportive Lennox was with Kenzie when she learned more about her. Both are terrific characters that you can't help but root for. And their chemistry is off the charts!
It's kind of the ultimate fantasy in that two A-List stars meet and fall in love, and yet Pyland also highlights the downside to fame and the toll it takes on them. Although there were some frustrating moments with both of them about how they handled it, there weren't really any easy answers so you had to cut them some slack.
Without giving anything away, I also really appreciated Pyland's description of Kenzie's social awkwardness, where that came from and how she dealt with it.
Melissa Moran narrated the audiobook and I was familiar with her work. She did well but every time she said the name Peyton (which was a lot) she never pronounced the "t" and it was almost as though there was a mini pause in the middle of the name. If that happened once or twice, it would have been something else, but Peyton was a significant secondary character so that was also a distraction.
In general I liked it a lot, though I felt it could have been tighter. If not for some of the aforementioned issues, I likely would have given the audiobook 4.5 stars. I'm certainly up for exploring more of Pyland's work!

I was surprised by this book, a look at celebrity romance, as I enjoyed reading about the beginning of the relationship in detail and conversations which are typically summed up for the reader or made brief when there is a rich reward for words which lead to more words and really describe what each character is thinking and feeling. There is an attempt by the author to offer a really comprehensive look at two actresses of considerable fame attempting something which should be private but is unfortunately is made all too public.

Ms Pyland mostly succeeds but does succumb to some repetition and and has serious problems with editing. I can ignore the occasional mistake but I frequently didn't know who was speaking easily enough and there were many homonyms which would not be caught by a spell check.

But. I truly liked the main characters at the same time I felt I was reading a book in a series with all of the mentions of other fabulously good-looking successful friends. No. no. Get back to the fact I enjoyed this.

Loved this book. It had the right combo of romance and angst. Wonderful chemistry and steamy sex.

Note of caution however....for those of you who can't stand grammatical errors and things of that sort...you may want to stay clear. It is riddled with those. I generally don't like that and usually deduct stars for it. However, annoying is it was sometimes, I couldn't let it bother me enough with this story. Plus the fact it was on Kindle Unlimited....

Two very famous actors meet in an adult summer camp for celebs hosted by a mutual friend. Insta attraction occurs. McKenzie is gay but in the closet, Lennox is straight but both women had a secret crush on each other for the longest time. Kenzie has Asperger’s and as a result of that she’s very sensitive and awkward in social scenarios. Lennox recognizes this because she has a younger sister who is the same. Lennox gets Kenzie. She feels all kinds of feelings she’s never felt for a woman before and it freaks her out a bit. They grow close during their week at camp and take it to the next level. Kaboom!!

Then Lennox gets a job offer she can’t refuse. It will take her to the other side of the world for at least 8 months of the year for 4 years straight. But Lennox holds off on a decision because she isn't sure where she wants to take her career next. But she doesn't tell Kenzie and Kenzie assumes... aaaand Kenzie freaks out and runs away to London where she is shooting her series. Lennox is devastated when Kenzie is not returning her calls. So after three weeks she travels to London, finds Kenzie and whilst clubbing they accidentally out themselves to the world. Chaos ensues.

My thoughts while reading this book

It’s not that bad really, I am just feeling a bit jaded at the moment. Romance novels follow a certain formula and maybe I am reading too many that use the insert drama at 80% mark at the moment. The drama is just wearing me down sometimes.

f/f explicit

Best sentence of the book: “She is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I wouldn’t ever risk not having what we have because of her gender.”

Another wlw celebrity romance. Another romance between a straight and not straight ladies - do we really need such labels? Well I don’t and what matters is that you love who you love.... A really sweet, fluffy, with some really steamy (and hot) scenes book that ‘stole’ 2 days from me... Yes, it’s bordering on insta-love, insta-lust. But I just loved it and was happy to be lost in Lennox & Kenzie’s world and love.

I really liked this story but must admit that the first 50% of the book got a bit too long for me. It wasnt until Len and Kenzie left their bubble did things start to get better. What can I say, well written heartache and drama keeps me vested in books. This was worth the read with a very nice HEA and two characters that you do end up liking but wanting to slap and then pull into hug.

This was a loaded romance story. Starts with intense, swings towards turmoil and draws to harmony. Despite my 5 star rating, my criticisms are more towards their turmoil...it felt immature on representations by the characters

I loved Lennox in book 1 of the series, and love her even more in this one. I also adore Kenzie because she is so relatable, and her relationship with Lennox is so beautiful it hurts.

Pyland always writes about wonderful characters who have their own lives in addition to the romance and I appreciated Lennox’s character arc. Also, this book is own-voices for autism and sapphic love.

Though this one was probably written earlier than No After You, I think there is added layer to Peyton’s character. Her, Dani, and the “celebrity gang” friendship make me tear up multiple times. The support system they have is amazing. I cannot wait for Maddox’s love story in Midnight Tradition.

P.S. I have no idea if there would be a more complete review, but these are my initial thoughts.

I'm definitely a fan of this author. She has an interesting way with words. The main characters Kenzie & Lennox are both actresses who seemingly have girl crushes on each other with only 1 being straight (Lennox). They meet at a squad getaway for a fictional Taylor swift character named Peyton. During this holiday getaway they become close & an immediate infatuation slowly turns to a complicated love story, with the backdrop drama of fame, stardom, paparazzi, autism, and all the trappings that come with it. Slightly predictable but definitely a quick read, bonus it's free on KU!

I loved the story but the setting of the of the book, at least the beginning at the camp site, was a no-no to me. I guess that’s my reflection on how I’m not an outdoorsy person.

One of the main characters is autistic. This was so refreshing, inclusive, positive, and so on. Honestly, I don’t know if it was covered in the most pristine way but still it gave me an outlook so new to me that I enjoyed it so much.

This book has a real story, Charlotte discovers something from herself that’s life changing, actually she realizes two things, one about her job and the other about her sexuality; and Kenzie pushes herself out of her comfort zone. Charlotte has experience with people on the spectrum so the way she understands, and comforts Kenzie was so sweet and tender but maybe it's just the way Charlotte is.

Even they fall for each other pretty fast it felt real opposite of how I felt with the previous book about Dani and Peyton’s relationship.

At the beginning of the book, I found many characters, from the previous book of this series, being rude and that was so untasteful, Peyton and the Maddox, it threw me over.

There was a lot of PDA and maybe I cringed a lot but hey.. not my business.

Really enjoyed the epilogue, takes place several months later.

31 March 2020 started the audio book
The audio is as good as the ebook/paperback. Melissa Moran was a new narrator for me, but she did a great job.

11 March 2019 This book is just.....wow!! more than 5 stars. I loved evrything about it. Cried with The characters, laughed, was angry... From page 1 till the end it took hold of me. And the sex...holly mother F... One of the best books I ever read. Number 8 in my top 10 books.

When Mackenzie and Lennox meet, sparks are immediately here despite Lennox identifying as straight. They bond really quickly and Lennox is just a gem and it's hard not to love her. Not once she is panicking over her feelings and just goes for it, she is so thoughtful and protective toward Kenzie. The fact that Kenzie was on the spectrum makes them communicate a lot about their needs in general and their talk about sex was almost more intimate than sex itself. I really appreciated that aspect of their relationship. A big part of the book takes place in a few days during the adult summer camp party Peyton has organized. They basically coupled up after two days and swear life long love after four. I admit it's not my favorite trope but it made it pretty intense. Then ta-da drama comes and they pretty much screw up in turn, even act in a really stupid way at some point, but it shows how complicated how impactful their status has on their lives and it add the perfect amount of angst. Overall I enjoyed listening to this book : the narration was good and the story very sweet and made me feel invested

Another of Pyland's books that landed on the "slightly dislike" pile. This one closer to "dislike" than its predecessor.
I just couldn't bring myself to like the MCs. Either I didn't care or they did something that grated on my nerves.
The writing also felt weirdly repetitive. Sometimes I read a sentence and felt like I've already read this thrice in this chapter alone. And when I actually went looking for the previous two cases I've found them within a few pages.
They argued, one of them shut each other out, they both sulked, big pseudo-romantic gesture and then sex, rinse and repeat.
Pyland has definitely written significantly better books

I decided to reread this last week and saw I hadn't reviewed it...

This was my first Nicole Pyland novel when I first read it. I read this when it was a bit of a standalone (inasmuch as Pyland novels can be standalones). I remember that I didn't want to put it down when I first read and have liked it enough to reread it. And I still like the novel. But let's be clear here. All the Love Songs feels at the same level as a soap aimed at teenagers (a la Dawson's Creek or One Tree Hill). You're going to be drawn into the drama and the feelings of it all and, let's be honest, the sex, too. But you know you're basically watching/reading nothing of substance, however entertaining it is. There's a place for that, certainly, and I'm not knocking Pyland, but it is what it is.

I liked the inclusion of a main character on the ASD spectrum, but it does feel a bit dated and mired in some stereotypes. And I'm not sure how true it is to the ASD experience (which is hard since ASD isn't any one thing).

I do think it's the strongest of the series, which makes sense since it was written first. And I know I gave No After You an entire star rating higher, but that's more to do with personal, sentimental reasons than quality.

I think the little me, in my 14/15 years old would LOVE IT. But now?
I swear I tried to finish this book in 3 different moments of my life. But this book IS SO boring, that I stopped in the half of it.
And me, as a stubborn person, I know that I don´t like to begin a book and not finish it. But, sometimes, the force of the boriness captivated me and I HAVE to stop reading.
And, surprise: This book is one of them.

As a fan of f/f stories, when I saw this book, with a star rate so high and with A LOT os reviews telling me that "this-is-the-best-book-ever-oh-my-how-good-is-this", I knew in that moment that I needed to read it. Silly me.

I know that this is an YA book, and maybe because of it, I couldn't stand the silliness, the characters, the writting, the plot.... but...

.... I´m really sorry for every one who love it, I can understand why... but for me? No, this is not a good book. Not at all.

Beautiful

What can I say other than Beautiful! I have a grandniece who is on the Spectrum and through hard work is fully functioning. I hope that my beautiful girl can find love as enduring like the MCs Kenz and Lennox found in this book. The story evolved with the right kind of pace. The two main characters were very real, heartfelt, and lovingly sweet. Well done.

Loved the book. It is very well written. The characters are so lovely, especially Lennox. Kenzie is on the spectrum and I think that is portrayed really nicely. There is good tension between them and also lovely touchy moments.

I tried so hard to like this more than I did. Unfortunately, its execution did not live up to its promise. It desperately needed an editor, both for basic grammar (spelling issues, comma issues, extra words inserted into sentences that should have been deleted) and to improve the writing (the sentence structure was clunky and amateurish, the plot points got repetitive). The two main characters each ended up displaying deep self confidence issues, which became frustrating. There’s only so many times you can read character 1 tell character 2 that character 1 isn’t good enough for them before you shout at character 2 to just believe her already and leave. This book exceeded that limit. I think many people will enjoy this, and I understand why they will. It just wasn’t for me.
