Jimmy Lee Swaggart was an American Pentecostal televangelist, pastor, media mogul, author and gospel music artist. Swaggart was ordained as a pastor by the Assemblies of God. He went on to become one of the most well-known televangelists in America. During the 1980s, his crusades were a major part of his ministry—drawing large crowds and receiving significant media attention. Swaggart founded Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, which owns and operates the SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN). He also founded the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College. Swaggart was the senior pastor of the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Swaggart was known for scandals involving prostitutes and revolutionary groups accused of war crimes in southern Africa. One prostitution scandal gave rise to a televised February 21, 1988, speech by Swaggart known as his "I have sinned" speech. After Swaggart was defrocked by the Assemblies of God due to sexual immorality, he moved on to become a non-denominational minister. Swaggart wrote about 50 Christian books offered through his ministry. He sold over 15 million records worldwide as a gospel artist and he also received one Grammy Awards nomination.
I actually have the 2008 counselor’s edition of this book And it prompted me to obtain the full Expositor’s Study Bible. At first the red letter threw me off, yet it’s understandable why it’s done that way, most red letter edition bibles are Jesus’ words. But this particular book is slightly modified King James Version, it’s better Translated than a New King James. It explains every verse, if you wanted to use it for reading and having an explanation immediately there if you choose to look at the red, I read mine about everyday, it’s showing wear, my New Testament was actually gifted to me by JSM. When I was incarcerated awaiting trial. And I assumed at first it was just a bible, and was disappointed it was a New Testament and not a full bible. But I got over that, it was appreciated none the less and I use it a lot more than I expected to originally. And very thankful for JSM for the awesome gift. It’s made with Cromwell Italian leather, gold gilded pages. It’s Smyth Sewn. It’s of great quality. And the full Bible I obtained of the same is even better. It’s beautifully crafted. As far as bibles are made. This New Testament is definitely worth having. Regardless of denomination. The 2003 Expositor’s New Testament version was the prototype for the other expositor‘s versions From JSM. The Expositor’s study bible Made with The genuine Italian Cromwell Leather versions are out of print. Last I researched. I think they are all bonded leather now if you can find them. I constantly study and use my other bibles as well. But these are uniquely made. And I am not Pentecostal, but I appreciate Jimmy Swaggart’s work on this extremely well made bible. They are built to last. The New Testament, is very well done and I would urge any reader or believer to give this version a try. If you like it, then go seek out the Expositor’s Study Bible. You will see just how beautiful and well crafted theses bibles are from JSM. Even if you find a nice used one of the out of print versions. They hold up and are built for several years of use. The New Testament is slightly different quality than the study bible. But nonetheless the facts are they are great books, and you can even use them for sermons directly from the book and add from the Expositor’s notes to explain scripture to whom you are preaching. They are great works, very well done from the translation, The narrations, the printing, and the assembly, the binding and gilding. Beautiful simply Beautiful.
All Bibles are great in their own way regardless of if they are KJV, NKV, NISV, or any other. However, this particular one is not the best style for me. It does not have the words that Jesus spoke in red, and due to it having a lot of extra additional words in it to help a person understand certain parts, actually makes it more confusing to me. However, me being a preacher's daughter obviously you would expect a person who grew up around the Bible to understand more of it. But, like anyone else I am most certainly not perfect. There are many people out there that I am sure this Bible would be perfect for. It is just not so for me. But definitely, check it out and give it a shot to see if it is the right Bible for you.
