nikki blaire is a regular Black girl intent on telling it like it is and that includes Black romance. Now based in the DMV, but a Southern girl at heart, nikki blaire began writing fanfiction stories at 14. Ten years later, she has finally come full circle as a published author. She is a public policy professional by day, but spends her nights dreaming up love stories that are real, and focused on showing the many facets of Black love.
Those around Ayda thought she was fortunate because of who she was and what she had; she knew differently. Tremaine and Sasha came into her life and made everything better. I really enjoyed this journey and I am looking forward to more. I cannot wait to see what happens with Ms Claudette because you can see that she is clearly not happy.
I must say for this to be a new author, she did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed this story. I laughed. I got mad. I got excited for the couple when they fixed their miscommunication problem. Great read! Can't wait for the second book.
Wait is this Nikki’s debut novel? 😱 OMG! She did a great job with this book, I was so into the story I finished in a couple of hours. Ayda & Tremaine ☺️😊 book baes, this book showed that we all come with baggage it just takes the right person to unpack it with. When Ayda stopped Isabella I felt the sisterly love right there 😓. I’ll be waiting on the rest of the siblings
This was my first read by the author Nikki Blaire and it won't be my last. The characters are clearly developed. The story is relatable to real life. But most of all, I 💘 that's it's set in my hometown of Washington, DC where politics, power & personal lives always blend. This was Tremaine Henley & Ayda Forde's story which i highly recommend.
On to Fortress (Forde Family Series Book 2) which is big brother Marcus' relationship drama.
For this to be the first book by this author it was amazing!!! Loved the chemistry between Ayda and Tremaine and absolutely loved Sasha. Definitely will be adding future books to my TBR list and can’t wait for the next book in the series. Good job!!!
I enjoyed this book for the most part. The blow up/break up scene was annoyingly over the top; but I appreciate that the issues didn’t last long. I loved Sasha and Tremaine’s family. All of the characters were well-written with interesting backstories. But I don’t think these characters will stick with me as other characters have in the past. Also, a quick note on the writing. I enjoyed it for the most part, but there were two metaphors that I highlighted because I felt it was awkward/unappealing. The first was the “smirk placed poignantly on his ‘(Tremaine’s)’ lips” and when “he collected both of her lips with his”.
I discovered this author on Girl, have you read. The book is great, characters are fun and relatable. I see Marcus, Sr. Is next not so sure if I want to connect to him, but we shall see.
I really enjoyed Nikki Blaire's debut novel. It was well written with minimal grammatical errors which is a biggie for me. I liked Ayda and Tremaine and I can't forget about little miss Sasha. Ayda and Tremaine both had their issues and I'm glad they were able to work through them.
Looking forward to the next book in the series. Curious to see what's going on with Ayda's parents.
I truly enjoyed this Story. The writer had a way of developing each character in such away that I could actually visualize each one. The story line was perfect I smiled at the very beginning the way Tremaine who watched Ayda Forde from a distance and fantasied about what it would be like. Little did he know that a little misstep by his four year old daughter would cause him to be put on the road for all of his Dreams to come true. I only had on one problem with the story ...I couldn’t figur out how to pronounce Ayda’s brother Dewele’s Name 😂😂😂 other than that the book was perfect
This was a sweet book. I love the message that money doesn’t equate to being happy and that there’s more to being “fortunate” than just having a great career and money. I would have liked to see how Trinity and Ayda reacted around each other and if they would become cordial or friends or would there be animosity since Tremaine being a single dad is a huge part of the story... Did Trinity move back permanently or leave ? That’s another thing that could have affected Ayda’s relationship.
This was a good and enjoyable read. The book was well written and had a thoughtful approach. I did struggle with the redundancy of some things while there was a glaring lack of development with others. Ayda also seemed much older than her purported 30 year old given age. She could have easily been 35 or 40 with her hang ups and lack of youthfulness. Tremaine was cool but not always realistic, Sasha was adorable and added humor and lightheartedness to the story. A good debut from an author that shows great promise.
Love the many was being fortunate was reference in this read. Ayda struggled with past relationship mess but Tremaine and Sasha bump in her life. Kinda made her family issues with her brother wasn't resolved cus they still don't kno... But happy her stuck up mama and her could talk. It's some mess goin on in the Forde family. Love how Tramine was firm with Trinity no 50/50 him. Renee the bestie we all need.
This was a great love story that invites you to complete it in one sitting! Tremaine and Sasha are a package deal. In walks the fantasy women Ayda. She has had a hard time with meaningful relationships, but finds something special in the package. Once both overcome past issues, the find a way to each other. Although it's not technically a cliffhanger, I'm praying for conclusion in part 2 for Marc...
Fortunate by Nikki Blaire has an amazing storyline and awesome characters. I love the Fordes and Henleys they are real. They have flaws and are multidimensional but relatable. Tremaine and Ayda's past relationship left a negative impression of finding love. .Trust issues. The strength and persistence of the H/h was beautiful. Chemistry was off the chain!! Check it out😍😍😍
I dug the overall concept; I just wished it didn't take quite so long to get into things. It dragged a teeny bit for me after the first couple chapters and I found myself trying to read faster. Ayda was cool but seemed a little immature to me. Tremaine was cool too (nothing like a devoted hot single dad) but I was confused by his actions at times, too. But it was a cool first read from this author.
Solid read and good character development. Ayda and Tremaine were smart, funny, and had great chemistry together. I love that we saw the ebbs and flows of their relationship, and little miss Sasha was the most adorable little four-year-old.
This was nikki blaire's debut novel, and I will definitely keep an eye out for her future books.
This book was so good! Definitely worth paying for. Great plot, great writing. I just loved everything about it. I read a LOT of books, and a lot of them are awful, so I'm always l always excited to find a new author that I actually like. Can't wait for the next story in this series!
FORTUNATE to have read this book. I could not put it down. I felt like I knew the characters and couldn't wait to come home to them and learn about their day. This isn't your average love story. It's a real story about flawed individuals we can all relate to. It's a story of hope and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
This was my first read from this author. It was a recommendation from a friend and I must say, I really enjoyed the writing style of the author. The story flowed well, the storyline and character development was on point. Very good read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
The story of Ayda and Tremaine was perfect in every way. Tremaine was bae, OMG was he bae! Ayda was a smart, drivin and successful woman without anyone to love her. Tremaine was stuck in a rut career wise trying to hold it down as a single father. These two shined together! 😍
I wish authors would free themselves from the shackles of making their characters grown ass adults who act like teens. Ayda had the emotional maturity of a teenager which was annoying as hell. Also the buildup for them to get together took to long. Eventually I mentally tapped out of this story because of boredom. 3.5/5.
Loved it. Story was well written. Contained just enough of everything. Like how it touched on domestic violence in relationships. First read by this author but definitely not my last.
I really enjoyed this story. It started off very slow to me. I actually put down the book for a couple of days (which i never do), BUT the synopsis kept drawing me back. I am so glad I came back to it. Good story!
This book was really good. Ayada and Tremaine looks good together. They both had issues relating to being in relationship. I am happy they both are trying together. Can't wait for Marc, Dwele , Julissa. Renee and Quentin stories.
Family dynamics, friends, work issue, charming and humorous characters all wrapped together with sexiness that makes for and enjoyable read. You won’t be disappointed.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed Ayda and Tremaine story so much! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between the couple! This was my first time reading this author and it won't be my last! Fantastic book!
I always love stumbling upon a good author. A really good tale, with likable characters set in Washington DC. I definitely plan on purchasing more of her works.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Ayda and Termaine. It was good to see a mature couple where neither was being disrespected and the love was reciprocated between both individuals. I recommend this book but be aware it is long.
I really enjoyed the growing relationship along with its struggles and misunderstanding between Ayda and Tremaine not to mention of the supporting family, coworkers and friends. Love wins over wealth and prestige.
