این هم از آن کتاب‌هایی بود که وسوسه شدم به خاطر کوتاه بودن‌شان یک ستاره کم کنم. تحلیل‌هایش درخشان بود. احساس می‌کنم تازه معنای پشت سه‌گانه‌ی کیشلوفسکی را فهمیدم.
این کتاب را هم ترجمه‌ی منتشرنشده‌اش را خواندم. امیدوارم زودتر چاپ بشود.

در مقدمه کتاب نویسنده اشاره کرده است که شیفتگی خاصی به کیشلوفسکی دارد و این شیفتگی در نوشتن این نقد نیز بی تاثیر نبوده است و بعد از مرگ کیشلوفسکی به یک باره تصمیم گرفته نقد و بررسی بر سه گانه آخر او بنویسد .

در بخش اول به برررسی کارنامه کارگردان پیش از ساخت سه گانه و مسیری و دلایلی که در نهایت او به ساخت این سه گانه رسید را شرح می‌دهد

در بخش دوم به بررسی جمع شدن تیم سازنده و بازیگران و.... فیلمها می پردازد

در سه بخش بعدی نقدی نخواهید دید و بیشتر شرح و خلاصه اتفاقات فیلم ها و.... را خواهید خواند

اما در بخش ( ارتباط فیلم ها ) رویدادها و اتفاقات فیلم ها و جهان بینی کیشلوفسکی و بازتاب آن در فیلم های دیگر او تا این سه گانه را خواهید خواند

( تاثیرات )؛ شرح تاثیر فیلم های دیگر کیشلوفسکی بخصوص ( ده فرمان ) و تاثیر آن در این فیلم است

( قطعه آخر ) : نویسنده نقد دیگر منتقدان و دلیل اهدا شدن / نشدن به این سه فیلم را بررسی کرده است

(در رثای کیشلوفسکی ): بخشی از مصاحبه ای است که نویسنده چند ماه بعد از ساخت سه گانه و پیش از مرگ کارگردان با او انجام داده است

در آخر ؛ کتاب خوبی است اما نه برای مخاطب حرفه ای و جدی سینما بخصوص سینمای اروپا، بیشتر به کار مخاطبین کمتر آشنا با سینما بخصوص سینمای اروپا می آید .‌

Geoff Andrew's BFI: The 'Three Colours' Trilogy (1998) is a good companion to Polish director Krysztof Kieslowski's towering achievement of three films based on the concepts of the French flag-liberty (Blue), equality (White), and fraternity (Red). It begins with an Introduction and then nine chapters. The first, "Before the Trilogy" gives a nice overview of Kieslowski's previous work before the trilogy. It is followed by "making the Trilogy" and three successive chapters on the the three films: Blue, White, Red. Then three chapters concerned with "The Trilogy"-"Connections," "Reflections," and "Coda." It finally ends with "Elegy: Remembering Kieslowski"-which includes the author's own interview with the director before his death in 1996.

"If something is your own, you're entitled to have a critical opinion of it, more so then of things that aren't yours. You can be very critical of your own wife, less so of your friend's wife. Of the people we love, we demand and expect more; it's the same with places. For me, England can be as it likes, but Poland I'd like to be different. It's never the way I'd like it to be, but I have the right to those expectations. It's awful, but it's mine! And I couldn't live anywhere else. I like Paris, and lived there a few years, but I couldn't live there forever."

nice overview of Kieslowski's career, especially pre-Decalogue. decent interview with Kieslowski at the end; the individual chapters draw some interesting specific links between the movies, but the discussion of overall themes doesn't cover much beyond what can be found on the DVD extras.

It's good there's a book devoted to these films, but there's so much more that could be said about the Three Colours trilogy than this one does. It's mostly just a detailed account of the plot of each film, with a bit of reflection on what they mean at the end of each. Very little of it stayed with me. The content of Kieślowski's films gradually turns away from politics towards personal life, yet the stories of personal life are explicitly themed around first moral precepts (Dekalog) and then political ideals (Three Colours). Clearly this invites a reading against Kieślowski's claim not to be particularly political. For instance, Three Colours Blue is about the impossibility of living without social attachments - that is, it can easily be read as a critique of the pure, atomised individual of neoliberal theory. But this meaning is smuggled into a film that accepts and works within - while critiquing - the political closure of the long 90s, 'end of history' moment in the West. Much like how Dekalog accepted and worked within the limits of what could be said in 1980s late-Communist Poland, but still smuggled in allegories about Communist rule: the critique of scientific socialism and state planning in Dekalog One, the critique of the regime's paranoia and distrust of the people in Dekalog Nine.
