Just a waste, even for a free book.

I don’t know where to begin with this book. I won’t summarize the plot, with no direction on who is speaking and when different characters begin to speak it’s almost impossible to enjoy what could be an entertaining read. Angst and the attempt to make something different, I think overruled what could have been a decent story.

What initially had me intrigued to read this book was was the plot, it sounded different enough and I was looking forward to reading the story. However I was put off completely by the author’s layout of the chapters and the dialogue, and poor attempt to build up the story. I really hope this is not her best work. This is a first and last read on my end.

Some might enjoy this, but I think the author would be better taking the time to go over her editing process for this book, and removing the story before to many others are put off. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that she may be a creative writer but the book/plot/dialogue reads like she did her own editing with no input or opinions.

*3 1/2 star rating*
The story was not bad. Some elements of the story were quite interesting, but I was struggling with some parts.
In all honesty, I am not a huge fan of Chad. The boy is so conflicted with his feelings and has no trouble stringing girls along. If Dyran wasn't single minded, I would root for him...or better yet, I would much rather root for the prom date!
Cara deserves better, but she is incredibly annoying! She talks about Chad as if he was always hers. She stakes claim to him as if she had every right to and anyone showing interest is only taking him from her. Yeah, that's a big no-no for me. It is as if she sees him as the best thing to ever walk on earth. Yeah, that's also a big fat no. Even Drew was a better fit. But there definitely were a lot of crazy and messed up relationships in this story.
Towards the end, the story got better--hence the 1/2 of a star it earned in my rating. But overall, it was a story I liked but not loved. Not sure if I am up to read parts 2 and 3.

Awful

This book was confusing. It went from character POV to character POV in the same chapter. And I mean multiple like Cara, Anna, and Chad. It was hard to read because we never really could tell what was truly happening. It's better went a book keeps to a character a chapter or mark when the new one begins. I was confused so much I only made it 36% and just couldn't read anymore. I got the other two books because they were free but because this book I'm not going to read them.

This one starts with Cara being a total brat to her mom and a total bitch to everyone else...so not a good start. And then everyone started talking and I decided this wasn't for me. I couldn't deal with high school students in California who used the following phrases...
"I would feel terribly out of place"
"aren't you a perfect gentleman" (because he introduced himself)
"then I shall come over and pick you up personally"
"it was weird to say the least"

If it was just the over the top proper dialogue I might have been able to deal with it but Cara's attitude was just the worst.

Not for me

This one just wasn't for me personally. I'm not big on leaving bad reviews, so I hope this doesn't come off as one. The plotline sounded amazing and interesting and I was super excited to begin reading it. Though, the moment I started the book I couldn't get into it. I wanted to, but couldn't. The writing could use a little more fine tuning, especially with dialogue. It just seems as if the author needs a better editor and more practice.

I guess shifter stories are one of my favorites.q

This is a different sort of story. A human girl discovers there are other species and falls in love with one of them. He takes her to meet his parents and in doing so starts a chain of events that are still ongoing at the end. The excerpt from the second book in the series explains a lot of the reasons for what is happening. I liked it.

The story did not engage me. And I skipped parts, but you could say I finished the book somewhat.
An over the top story with too many twists and turns, and I did not think the characters were believable or likeable.

Will not read the following books in this serie.

This is the first book by the author for me, so maybe another book would be more in my liking, even though I doubt it.

For a YA book it was exciting. From page one to the end it was hard to put down. Cara got more than she bargained for when she moved to LA. She became involved with were shifters, were beasts, Cloud aliens, and Chad, sweet Prince Chad. The pace moved quickly from scene to scene as it was tense and exciting in each chapter. Ends with a Cliffhanger. A very good read

This book started off a little bit slow but didn't take long to get me interested. I loved learning about the people of Akaloshia & Akaphoria. The author threw in some shifters on earth that added another group to the chaos. There is so much going on and poor Cara has no idea who to trust. I would love to read book 2 if finding a copy wasn't like finding a needle in a haystack.

Truly a green tale

Interesting story but one very young and geared towards the teen crowd.. some of those books are widely accepted and so good, they appeal to all ages but this one seems to be definitely a teen book. Not saying that's bad, just too kiddish for me.

I found the story interesting and good characters...the main characters Chad and Cara are high school kids and she goes through some scary stuff while Chad being the alien I'm not sure of his real age...just know this is a cliffhanger! (which I don't really like)

An intriguing take on a paranormal/alien mix. Lots of different situations leading up to the final chapter but sometimes a little confusing. I enjoyed the story.

Outstanding

This story takes so many twist and turns taking you deep into a YA paranormal story you don't want to stop reading! Exciting, adventurous, and romantic! I can't wait to read more!

Rambling in circles

I felt this story was not quite right. The author rambled on in some places and seemed to lead the story in circles. The flow of the story was not smooth almost juvenile.

This is probably meants for a younger audience

It's too detailed for me, their dialogue, where everything is explained and sometimes repeated. However, it kept me curious and I ended up finishing the book after a long whole.

The story didn't feel original; it was all over the place and very predictable. The characters were not interesting as well. Anyway, got it free from Amazon for what it's worth. Thanks.

Author Riley Moreno takes two of the most popular genre's to date, science fiction and paranormal and mixes them together into one novel, so what is not to like! You have your science fiction of another planet just above Earth and the paranormal of shape-shifters, werewolves to be exact. Mix that with high school and you have a novel that will keep you guessing until the end!

Cara and her mom have just moved across the country from NJ to LA and Cara is not happy about it. It's hard to move when you are a junior in high school and you have to leave your boyfriend and your best friend behind, of course it doesn't make it any better when you find out that said ex-boyfriend and best friend are now a couple in your absence.

High School is hard for Anna because she has a secret, she's a werewolf and she isn't happy about it, she just wants to be a normal teenage girl, but her pack is determined to increase their numbers and they have a terrible plan to spike the punch at a local party.

Chad is suppose to be the son of Hollywood parents, but he has a secret as well, at this point who doesn't in LA, he is not even from this planet, he is here to prevent a takeover plot from some coup participants from his planet, and in the process he gets involved with the werewolves and Cara.

This is a fun book that didn't take long to read. I didn't want to put it down because I wanted to find out what happened and I was pleasantly surprised. There are high school emotions, but even more there is the fate of two or three worlds and the people of a number of different populations. You have science fiction notes in the space travel, superior knowledge and other worlds and then you have paranormal in the werewolves and their whole agenda. All of this wrapped in real life high school.

This is the first book in a series, and although it ends well, it does leave some questions that lend themselves to another book easily. Looking forward to reading the next book as well.
