Christmas is such a magical time and spirits are high in Cutler, While it's true that there have been changes, good and bad, over the last several years, everyone is moving forward. And now, an abandoned baby girl has been found at the library by Miranda's clairvoyant cat, Harry. Taylor Perryman, recent widow of Chief of Police Jake Perryman, finds her and wants her but babies don't fall under "finders keepers" so she will have to fight for the little girl. Acting Chief Gabe Downing has a surprise for Miranda Hathaway this Christmas but will it turn out the way he hopes? The spirit of Christmas is restored in Cutler and surprises abound. For certain, this is one Christmas no one will soon forget!
I love a good cozy mystery, especially one at Christmas time with all the goodies that come along with it. But of all surprises at Christmas, who would expect a baby girl to be dropped off on your doorstep or should I say local library?
The mystery is good, the familiar characters are all involved, and the spirit of Christmas will make an impact on the reader, even if one doesn't observe the holiday or that it's symbolic of Christ's birth. The heartwarming backdrop of the abandoned baby and how badly Miranda wants and fights for her is sure to tug at anyone's heartstrings.
I am SO disappointed...that I didn't save this fabulous read for the holidays! This is everything a reader would want in a holiday tale: a mystery that could have been tragic that becomes a Christmas miracle; friends banding together with good will; plenty of romance and new beginnings; and, openhearted sharing of the very best kind of present. The story is well-written, nicely organized, heartwarming, and thoroughly engaging; there's no way I was the only one in tears at the hospital, and again back at home, and at Marjorie's hug!
This book was an all around pleasure to read. Loved how the recurring characters had a pleasant adventure this go round. Hoping another adventure starts soon!
